last evening we went to Roy's on a lucky whim. I had a shrimp salad and a Thai inspired lobster bisque..both were so divine, we cancelled another reservation and tried Roy's again for later in the week...no such luck. My husband felt the same about his salad and ribs. We each had an amazing Hawaiian martini,...our server/bartender Jerome was a pleasure. We hate to wait, but will risk returning another night without a reservation, and crossing our fingers.

I have been to different Roys before, this experience was not as good. The fish was a little tough. However, the service was good although the main server was trying to push more expensive drinks on to my teenagers. She tried more than once. Didn't like that.

This was our first time at Roy's & we would not go back. Must say, some of the food was indeed excellent, really top notch (butterfish entrée, Maui wowie salad, friend rice), but some was only average (tempura sea bass, white rice, Cesar salad). Whatever ambiance the place might have had was sadly blotted out by the noise level. In it's extreme efforts to be outstanding, the service was instead overly attentive & pretentious. It felt scripted, mechanical & super efficient rather than comfortable or friendly. We were quite disappointed.

Have dined at several Roy's restaurants in the US and this one did not fail to impress. Although the restaurant was busy, I had requested a quiet table (due to hearing problems we asked to be away from the kitchen) and although it was difficult to do, the hostess acknowledged our request and did the very best to accommodate. We were called by name by the wait staff and he was very helpful and friendly. The food was outstanding (as usual) and our evening with friends was a complete success.

We were in Palm Springs with my sister and her husband celebrating our Anniversaries. Both couples had Roy's gift cards from Christmas and decided to use them there as a special treat. The Spring Rolls were burned and tasteless. The sauce was supposed to be sweet and sour. All we tasted was sour. The Sushi roll on the other hand was fabulous. For dinner my sister ordered Salmon, but specified "No Sauce". The meal came in a pool of sauce. When we pointed it out, the server called the manager over who apologized and took the plate back to the kitchen. Within 3 minutes the same plate was presented with the same pier of fish. When they brought a new meal we had all finished our. WRONG!

We love eating at Roy's for birthdays and special occasions. And thought what a great place to spend our 28th Anniversary. We started by ordering an appetizer that didn't come out as described? It stated fresh salmon, hamachi and another dish but came out as a roll deep fried with sesame. I'm allergic to sesame but it didn't say anywhere on the description that it was in it? I should of told the waiter but he seemed to busy and spent very little time with us and I forgot to tell him. The rest of our dinner was ok. My steak was over cooked and chewy. My husbands trio was ok but nothing special. I'll chalk it off as an off night for them. We will be back hoping for the best.

Explanations of menu options and wine choices were provided at our request, and the staff showed the utmost in care for the patrons. Our meal was unbelievably great, prepared perfectly to our request. Did I mention the service was excellent? The prepared to order desserts are exceptional and should not be missed if you're not a regular. I can't imagine there is a more fulfilling dining experience anywhere in the Palm Springs valley.

The food is still well prepared, with fresh ingredients, and very tasty. The butterfish is a signature dish, and we ordered it in lettuce cups as an appetizer (my companion's main.) There were three cups, with small but decent sized filets of butterfish. We also ordered the sampler platter, which was a good supplement to the butterfish. I ordered the rib eye on the bone. Roy's does it well by trimming the steak, making it a true rib "eye" and allowing for a thicker steak for the weight. The result is a nice char on the medium rare ribeye. The pasta and cheeses (very rich mac and cheese) uses cavatappi pasta, which is great for the cheesy sauce. Be aware it thickens as time goes bye, but it is still tasty. No room, so no desserts.

Our dining experience was wonderful! Our server was very courteous and helpful. From our appetizers to our main course, everything was truly amazing. Roy's menu has something for everyone. If seafood is not your favorite, try one of their mouth watering steaks like my son did. He loved it. Of course, their ultimate decadent dessert of their Chocolate Soufflé is the kind of dessert us chocolate lovers live for. And, it is flourless, but you would never know that.

Ambiance & service were very good. Wait person gave great service in the beginning but then we didn't see him that much after more patrons arrived. The manager, however, was very attentive & thoughtful! Appetizers were well below Roy's standards: Calamari tasted like the frozen super market type and the Lobster potstickers had no lobster taste at all. The Peking Ribs on the other hand were the BEST I ever had from any restaurant! Entrees: The Misoyaki Butter Fish was delicious and was well portioned. The Spicy Seafood Hotpot was way too skimpy, 3 medium size shrimp, 1/2 slipper size lobster & 8-10 very small mussels over some noodles in a medium bowl for $38 was way over-priced!

In general, Roy's Restaurants have been, for us, a place where we know we can have a good experience--food that is well-prepared and unique, attentive service, and a friendly staff. Roy's at Rancho Mirage meets that expectation. The bar staff were friendly even while coping with a busy Saturday night crowd; wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable and remembered us from our last visit. And the food preparation was perfect. Chef Pfally's signature appetizer roll was wonderful and inventive, and the two fish dishes ordered by my wife and I were both as advertised. This location will continue to be a spot we will always dine whenever we visit the Palm Springs area.

We had a very large party next to us that had a child to parent ratio of 4/1 it was difficult to control the excitement and it spilled out away from their table. Which ever parent made the reservation should have been taken aside and casually mentioned the issue might be disturbing the other guests. Perhaps a more secluded section of the restaurant would have been better suited.

We have been to Roy's several times. Usually because someone wants to go there, or in this case to use a gift card. We have always thought that Roy's was extremely noisy. If you are trying to carry on an casual conversation you will find it difficult to do so. Food is very good but not any better than several other restaurants that are a better value. If you can get seated in the smaller room in the front it is not as noisy there. It is very easy to soundproof a restaurant but I don't know why they don't do something. The wait staff was good. We didn't need anything that we didn't get promptly. The valet staff almost carried you into the restaurant. We brought wine, shared a desert, no salads and bill was over $200.

This restaurant is one of the best in the desert. The food is exceptional (although a bit pricey) and the service superb. We had a group of 6 and the downsize of that is it was VERY noisy and difficult to communicate during dinner. We were seated at 5:00 so we did have about a half hour or so where is was really wonderful. I know its just the design of the place and no ones fault, but we all agreed that its not a "date" restaurant. Our food was exceptional, although a bit pricey but we now have a place to go for those "once in awhile" celebrations. I am looking forward to trying happy hour out...

Roy's consistently offers great food and great service. If you make a reservation, the staff refer to you by name which is a very classy touch! The food is Pan-Asian/Hawaiian and is outstanding. Drinks are generous and there are several speciality cocktails that reflect Roy's Hawaiian roots. The seafood is fresh and cooked to perfection. The chocolate souffle is positively sinful, but I would recommend sharing this dessert as it is very rich. We are already planning a return visit!

We ordered 2 desserts, and they presented it on a large platter, and wrote Happy Anniversary in chocolate. Also, they took our picture with the platter, and by the time we were done with dessert, they printed the picture and put it in a frame for us. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.
