  • "Roy's is my favorite place to eat. It is consistently good. It's where I always go to celebrate any special occasion. They know how to make a special occasion memorable with the food, the service and the special surprises. I wish that the many male guests would leave their jeans, shorts, t-shirts and flip flops for the appropriate occasion and show respect for the restaurant, staff and other guests who know how to dress appropriately. Google "Business Casual". Perhaps they could all be seated in another room and leave the main dining room for those of us that know better."

  • "There were 6 of us girls with 2 birthdays being celebrated and one of the diners was my 9 year old granddaughter. They made it very special for both birthday girls and kept the little one entertained and fed! Food was great, service was great and come here every time I'm in the area."

  • "Having just returned from Hawai'i, I was still in the mood for some good fish and so Roy's was the choice. I started with the Ahi Poke and was quite satisfied with the freshness and blend of flavors. My favorite fish on the menu, which I chose this time as well, is their Butterfish with a soy glaze. Crispy on the edges yet moist and sweet, this is a sure bet. Dessert was also my favorite, their Pineapple upside down cake - so delicious. And they make great Mai Tais also! Have to add that the service is splendid, from the hostess to the busser to the waitress/waiter. Even had a visit from the shift manager. Helped keep my Hawai'i buzz keep going! Mahalo. Roy's no ka oi (Hawai'ian for it's the best)!"

  • "My partner and I were celebrating our second year anniversary and decided to go to Roy's to celebrate. Raymond the server and Santos his assistant provided amazing service that made us both feel very special. The food was superb. They provided us a beautiful desert tray with a special greeting on it and provided custom inserts in our menus to thank us for celebrating at Roy's. What a special time we had."

  • "My son and I celebrated his birthday at Roy's. He is a genuine "foodie" and I try to take him to places I know will meet with his approval. This dinner was as perfect as it could be. He knows Roy's in Los Angeles and Honolulu his way around the menu well. I always like a different opener and stay with one favorite entree that is always just right - Butterfish."

  • "Service was attentive and professional, ambience was nice. The food unfortunately was just okay. I had the Roy's trio. Skip it and go for the butter fish. The other two fish were just okay. My daughter had the schezuan ribs which were tender and delicious. We had a large party and no one complained, but no one raved either."

  • "The food was great. Waitress did a good job in the service area and seemed very sweet. We weren't crazy about her using the "we or us". What ruined it for us was when we received the bill and she failed to bring us the correct change. We tip very well and have no problem rewarding great service. It surprised me when we didn't get the "coin" change and I asked her why. She snapped back so fast and took 50 cents out of her pocket and said "here let me get that for you and I'll pay for it". It was a legitimate question, as it's illegal NOT to return all your change. Just a question, but what a snot. Unexpected/"

  • "Not my favorite Roy's. Had a steak and lobster special....asked for steak Medium rare more on the Rae side. It was cooked a little too long for my taste. Everyone at the table of six felt that way about their their meal. On the other hand, the server, Adrian, was great."

  • "Warm welcome. Seated immediately. Server was efficient but brusque. I ordered my favorite dish, macadamia crusted halibut. The lobster sauce was diluted with water from the boiled potatoes underneath the fish. The edamame served was overcooked and soft. We had a couple of ok appetizers. This restaurant has lost its sizzle. "

  • "Promptly greeted, which is very important to me. Remainder of service was outstanding. Water glass was always full, never had to wait long for anything, did not feel rushed. Food was fresh and very good. This was my first visit to a Roy's and it was during restaurant week. Wife did not care too much for her Roy's label cabernet wine, but other than that, it was a perfect dining experience."

  • "The lettuce wedge salad was the best we ever have had, John our server was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful from the moment we arrived to the minutes we departed...Short Ribs, Macadamia Crusted Mahi, Mahi and Pineapple Upside Down Cake amongst the balance of our meal earned our compliments to the chef!!! John also mentioned upcoming special occasions we will come back for."

  • "We had Ashley as our waitress and were underwhelmed with the customer service or professionalism. Luckily, the manager on duty, Delfina, made up for Ashley's lack of service. Ashley did not know what sides came with various dishes and we had to prod her to go ask the kitchen rather than just stick with her "I don't know" response. She was not able to make any vegetarian option substitutions on the Restaurant Week menu, even though we had been to Roy's in the past with no issues on this. Really made the dining experience not enjoyable. Roy's is great, but their service quality seems to be going downhill."

She said they even cure their own bacon, (pork belly) for their wedge salads. The bus boy was very attentive. Even the valet opened the door for us to enter.   • "We have eaten in this restaurant many times since it was open. The service is usually less that great but this was the worst ever. 40 minutes to get served between the appitizer and main course. Manager took no interest even though he was told of problems by server. May now be off the radar for dinner until we hear serevice has improved. Food was cold and so was the dining room."

  • "We decided to stay an extra night in Palm Springs to avoid traffic going home on Memorial Day and my wife insisted we go to one of her favorite places, Roy's. She, as usual, got the butterfish and I got the macadamia-crusted mahi-mahi. Both were good, but mine could have used a few more veggies on the plate. I literally got about 2/3 of one small potato and a few asparagus tips. As these (especially the potato) cost so little, the plate felt a bit empty, though all was prepared very well."

  • "We usually love Roys. Friends and family often give us gift cards to go there. This was for a birthday. The food was good, as always, but when it came time for the dessert, the server just brought us the check. No birthday dessert as they usually do. I had my birthday there last fall and they went all out, this time, they did nothing but say happy birthday at the beginning. We asked to see the manager and she was like a robot, kept saying the same thing over and over, but never really apologizing or even offering to bring us something. She was arrogant, had her (obviously) rehearsed corporate speech down on what to say to dissatisfied patrons. Offered us a $20 coupon for next time, but there wont be a next time. "

  • "Roy’s Rancho Mirage always seems to impress. Whenever I believe they can’t outdo themselves they surprise. Everyone from the Managing Partners to the Servers and even the bus staff are great. I have never had a bad experience at the restaurant. Even when our usual server, Jerome, is out and other servers are there they come by and say “Hello” to us remembering our faces. The Managers, Kamryn and Eddie are the BEST. They always make us feel welcome and like we are very special VIP’s. Now that they have added Executive Chef Adam to the team it has brought the taste of the food over the top. Thank you to all of you… It is well worth the drive into the desert for this experience."

  • "We love Roy's, been to several locations, mostly Hawaii, San Francisco. Always have a great time and Asian Fusion food is awesome. This Roy's: appeared to want us in and out in 1 hour. Was Southwest meets Asian, every thing seemed to have this chef's special southwest pepper blend, applied with a heavy hand. I couldn't each my prawns & noodles, though I have enjoyed it at other Roy's. Even the chocolate souffle was tinier than usual. I would visit Roy's again tomorrow, but not the Roy's at Rancho Mirage. So disappointing, I was looking forward to it as a highlight of our trip. Roy's fans and Hawaiian lovers should avoid."

  • "We had requested a QUIET booth by the wall. When we arrived, those booths were taken and we were seated in the back of the restaurant. It was so noisy that we could not hear each other speak. The food was good, but It was the WORST restaurant I had even been in for noise. When we sat down, we had waiters and other attendants taking our orders and making sure we had drinks and appetizers. Once the food arrived they disappeared and we had to wait for 20 minutes for someone to appear to ask for our bill - he brought it - then left for another 20 minutes. We were so tired by then! We spoke with hostess and she couldn't seem to hear my complaint as I was leaving. She told me to use word SPRING for next reservation and I would get $20 off!"

  • "Food was pricey but good. "Butterfish' entrees were the distinctive highlight - would recommend the "Classic Combo". Service adequate. From previous Roy's experiences elsewhere, we were surprised by lack of ambience - less of the distinctive "resort classy casual hawaiian fusion" vibe than remembered. This had a noisy, casual, dining room, corporate chain feel that keep it from feeling like a special occasion place. Surprised by the number of kids/grandkids. Overall, we were disappointed by this perceived shift because we saw little differentiating Roy's from myriad other nice dinner options. "
