I have frequented this restaurant several times with my wife. I have even held a 20 party birthday party here. I love the ambiance and decorum, but after this visit on the ride home, my wife and I were thinking the same thing. We were searching for the taste and experience that we had on our first visit two years ago. On 3 separate occasions we have had to have steaks re-cooked which lead to one of us waiting on the others meal. The rib appetizer seems to keep getting fattier and fattier. Management does address the issues but I don’t like to seem like a needy customer each visit. Still searching for that initial high and excitement about Roy’s.

My family and I like to go to Roy's whenever we're missing Hawaii. The seafood is fresh and always well prepared and the menu has a great diverse selection. It really does replicate the cuisine from Hawaii well. The staff is also always friendly and very accomodating when we bring the kiddos.

Roy's never fails to deliver. It was our 23rd anniversary. They had a Happy Anniversary sign at the table. The food at Roy's is consistently great. I really enjoy the 'butterfish' and my wife had the ribeye. Both very flavorable. We usually go for the chocolate souffle for desert but this time we opted for the pineapple upside down cake with coconut ice cream. As our kids would say...OMG! It was fabulous. Thanks to Roy's for an enjoyable evening.

This was our first time at Roy's after wanting to eat there for a long time. It was worth the experience. We were greeted by the host and immediately seated. Our waiter gave a good overview of the menu, gave us complimentary appetizer as first timers. The canoe appetizer we ordered was very good. The seared ahi was excellent. The mahi was a bit over done but was still good. Overall, the experience was very good. James (waiter) was helpful and attentive but not over powering. He understood the menu well and offered advice though not pushing what he felt best. We will go back.

The service was very good as were the salads and sauces the entrees came with. But there were too many negatives for us to return. It started with the complimentary edamame which was way over cooked and cold. Then I ordered the Ahi cooked medium. It came seared on the outside and raw on the inside - not what I wanted. But the overall negative was the portion sizes - they were tiny. We both ordered fish entrees and with both, the pieces were very small. In addition the side vegetables were mere slivers of their former selves - literally. Perhaps the most telling thing was the waiter kept bringing up dessert (when we sat down, when we ordered our entrees, after the entrees and brought the menu regardless).

I've done Roy's on multiple occasions and they are consistently at the top of their game. The menu may change regularly but the quality of service and the dishes prepared remains impeccable… even if I usually cop out and order the bone-in ribeye every time I eat here. The service is attentive without being overwhelming and each member of the staff makes you feel as welcome as if they have known you for years. The best advice I could give is don't go overboard with appetizers (ribs or lobster potstickers are both exceptional starters) and save room for that pineapple cake dessert. That thing is so tempting that I am convinced it's illegal in at least 48 states. No matter what you order, food or drink, Roy's has your requests covered.

We were seated promptly at a great table overlooking the restaurant. Service was great. May have ordered the wrong thing, didn't really enjoy my dinner. I like, not love asian fusion. Wanted light fare and wasn't to much to choose from on appetizer menu. My husband had the chef special and said it was really good.

We dined during restaurant week and I guess my only "complaint" isn't really a complaint at all. It was so much food. We each had to pack some up to take home and we were still uncomfortably full when we left. Everything tasted fantastic. I have to say, the leftovers the next day tasted almost as good as when it was brought to our table.

We drive over to Roy's for special occasions and wished we lived closer. It is truly an unintimidating former dining experience. There is nothing ordinary about the menu or incredible flavors, yet the food is not something you receive on your plate and think, "what is THAT?" Amazing. Been a Roy's fan since 2003.

The only thing I requested on line was a Romantic Table. We were sat at was the most un-romantic tables in the restaurant. It was a table in the back "wall" of the restaurant where one of us has zero view. We did not complain, but really, this is the table they chose for us as "Romantic"? Within 20 minutes, 2 "Romantic" booths opened, why not call us and ask us to move our redo for 20 min later to achieve our request? Mai Tai was the best we have ever tasted! Butter Poached Lobster and Filet. She likes her meat cooked through, but it was shoe leather and burnt. Server said the lobster would be removed from shell, butter poached and placed back in. It was never butter poached, it was overcooked in an oven and tough. Pink Snapper - fabulous!

We dine at Roy's for special occasions (budget doesn't allow this to be a more frequent choice) and are always satisfied. The service is excellent and the food is wonderful. You must try the Misoyaki Butterfish, Braised Short Ribs, and Szechuan Pork Ribs (appetizer that could easily be a meal with a nice side dish added). There is also a Trio dish with the above butterfish plus the salmon and mahi mahi in smaller portions, a perfect fish sampler entree! The molten chocolate cake is also divine if your stomach can handle that at the end!

I took my husband out as a special treat to him. While I'm apprehensive to seafood restaurants, I knew he'd love it. So I bit the bullet. Both he and our waiter, Tyler helped me find something new besides my "go to" meat item, which they had a good selection. I've got to say I really enjoyed myself to the new taste. While he was in heaven. The staff was friendly and attentive. We definitely come back. I'd love to try the Lobster Pot Pie!

The food was good, but the service from our waiter was disappointing. He just seemed completely put out. And I'm note sure why he made some judgement from the start towards us. We noticed that he behaved much politer and friendlier to the table next to us. This is an example of how service from your waiter can pretty much ruin the night. Food was good, bartender was very nice during our pre dinner drinks.

We love going to Roy's. The drinks, like Roy's Mai tai and Hawaiian martini, are always better than average. On our last visit, we had Monchong and Opakapaka and both fishes were delicious. We also had their tuna poke which was great though a little salty. The decadent Lobster Mac and Cheese is a must order. Bok Choy was freshly made and delicious as well. The dessert, the famous chocolate cake, is worth the visit. Our waiter aimed to please and was polite, friendly and attentive. Could not ask for a better time.

I was disappointed in the food. Price wise this restaurant can be compared to other high end restaurants, and the ambiance was nice. But the food was hit and miss. Lobster potstickers were pretty good; lobster pot pie was disappointing...not much flavor. Chilean sea bass was ok. Vegetable tempura was heavy on the breading, not real light; and cold. Dessert was wonderful....chocolate souffle. Since it was our anniversary, they had a small display on the table wishing us HA. Very nice touch. We'd give it another chance because of the service. Taylor was our waiter, but the other staff was also excellent.

Roy's is my go-to special occasion restaurant. The seafood is always the best in Dallas, the wines are excellent, and the service is always the best. I had the Dynamite Baked Hawaiian Moonchong (fish) for the first time, and was blown away. It was one of the best seafood dishes I've ever eaten. The tempura bok choy was unusual, mostly because I'm not a big bok choy fan, and it was pretty good, too. I DEFINITELY recommend the Maui Wowie Shrimp Salad - that's another one I'll be having again and again. I would place Roy's as one of the five best restaurants in Dallas.
