The Plano restaurant is located on the East side of the North Dallas Tollway between the Park and Parker exit and features an exciting exhibition kitchen and beautiful bar that hosts a happening Aloha Hour six days a week. In the kitchen, Chef Scott Nakachi brings his imagination and artistry to the plate every night. Having cooked with Roy for eight years, Scott has learned the art of balancing flavors and cutting edge cooking techniques. Seating: we sat in front of the kitchen door. my back was facing kitchen. I got bumped constantly. Valet: totally unacceptable. We pulled up, the valet stepped forward as if to open my door. But he didn't, he was texting. He looked up startled & went around to driver side; phone in hand. He pulled our truck up still texting. When we left he was sitting in his car parked in the front spot w our keys."

  • "Another great visit to Roy's. The best place in Dallas for a little Hiwaiian ambience. I always start with Mai Tais, and they did not disappoint. Along with the drinks, I had barbecue smoked pork ribs. Again, great! For the entree I tried Lobster Pot Pie. A large pot pie, with crispy vegetables and lots of lobster in a not overly rich broth. The waiter described the top crust as flaky, but I thought is was somewhat gooey. I'm supposed to be going light on carbs, so I wouldn't have eaten much of it either way. For dessert we shared chocolate soufflé and pineapple upside down cake, both excellent."

  • ""Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine" translates into "there is at least one ingredient you won't recognize" (check out their menu). Half the fun is experimenting so go for it although I would strongly recommend the fish over the meat entrees. Butterfish was excellent, cooked to perfection but the sauce, for me, was a little on the sweet side (that Hawaiian effect) but not overwhelming. Service was great although the waitperson was not that knowledgeable about the ingredients, or the fish. We asked for and got a fairly quiet table in the side room as the main section is really noisy and it was Saturday. I would recommend Roy's because the menu is really, really different and the food is very good."

  • "We had a nice time overall. My only complaint was that after encouraging us to start with a Hawaiian Martini one of them was barely half full. At north of ten dollars each we were disappointed to begin the evening. They tasted good, but neither the bartender nor the waiter should have served a half full drink. We selected two expensive wines by the glass to go with our meals and again the pours were barely adequate I'd not measly. The food was very good, the portions were just right, and the edamame to start the meal was a very nice complimentary feature. We will return but they are skimping on the drink serving sizes despite charging a premium for alcohol."

  • "This is a lovely restaurant and is very popular. Service is excellent and attentive. However, for $200 for the two of us, I expected pretty near perfection. Both of our sides were either cold or way over salted. My husband's fish was over cooked. We were seated at a table near the front that was right in the middle of foot traffic and it was distracting. There are too many other options in this area to try them again."

  • "The staff was very courteous and attentive. The food was good but much better can be had for the price. Maybe we just need some guidance. I started with a caesar salad which came out with an imperceptible amount of dressing. I don't care to use much dressing in salad but there was so little I don't know why they bothered. I had Filet and Lobster but was surprised by how little flavor the filet delivered. The lobster was better but still left me wanting. We had lobster dumplings as an appetizer which I didn't care for that much but my wife enjoyed. She had a ribeye and allowed me to sample it which was really very good, definitely the best food of the night. For dessert we had macadamia nut bread pudding, which was a delight! Excellent!"

My 20 minute dessert took 35 minutes to make and although it was a Hawaiian Treat the portion size was small and not worth the expensive price tag. Between the wait time and small portion the desserts are over prices."

Actually, everything - my lamb chops and my wife's fish dish - was so over-salted it was impossible to sense or evaluate any other nuances or flavors of the dishes. The wine list, though limited, was broad enough to fit the bill, and the ending cup of coffee may have been the highlight of the evening."

  • "We have been to several Roy's restaurants. The food has always been excellent. At this location the choices were by far the most extensive we have ever see,and partaken. So the choices were excellent the service nice,but near the end a little slow,and the food a cut above the already Roy's excellence. Our only complaint was the decor. Not very bright or vibrant . There were two walls completely bare which could accommodate one of the lively bright Hawaiian prints like we see in Arizona.This one was exactly like the one we visited in Florida,also walls a little dull. In addition the manager made numerous rounds to ask how meals were going and twice he neglected our table. .?? We are often in Plano,our son lives a few blocks away."
