Service was slow slow slow. People that arrive at that same time we did were leaving before we even received our main course. The food was good but not notable or worth the price.

We were seated promptly at a great table overlooking the restaurant. Service was great. May have ordered the wrong thing, didn't really enjoy my dinner. I like, not love asian fusion. Wanted light fare and wasn't to much to choose from on appetizer menu. My husband had the chef special and said it was really good.

We dined during restaurant week and I guess my only "complaint" isn't really a complaint at all. It was so much food. We each had to pack some up to take home and we were still uncomfortably full when we left. Everything tasted fantastic. I have to say, the leftovers the next day tasted almost as good as when it was brought to our table.

We drive over to Roy's for special occasions and wished we lived closer. It is truly an unintimidating former dining experience. There is nothing ordinary about the menu or incredible flavors, yet the food is not something you receive on your plate and think, "what is THAT?" Amazing. Been a Roy's fan since 2003.

  • Dinner at Roy's

The only thing I requested on line was a Romantic Table. We were sat at was the most un-romantic tables in the restaurant. It was a table in the back "wall" of the restaurant where one of us has zero view. We did not complain, but really, this is the table they chose for us as "Romantic"? Within 20 minutes, 2 "Romantic" booths opened, why not call us and ask us to move our redo for 20 min later to achieve our request? Mai Tai was the best we have ever tasted! Butter Poached Lobster and Filet. She likes her meat cooked through, but it was shoe leather and burnt. Server said the lobster would be removed from shell, butter poached and placed back in. It was never butter poached, it was overcooked in an oven and tough. Pink Snapper - fabulous!

We dine at Roy's for special occasions (budget doesn't allow this to be a more frequent choice) and are always satisfied. The service is excellent and the food is wonderful. You must try the Misoyaki Butterfish, Braised Short Ribs, and Szechuan Pork Ribs (appetizer that could easily be a meal with a nice side dish added). There is also a Trio dish with the above butterfish plus the salmon and mahi mahi in smaller portions, a perfect fish sampler entree! The molten chocolate cake is also divine if your stomach can handle that at the end!

I took my husband out as a special treat to him. While I'm apprehensive to seafood restaurants, I knew he'd love it. So I bit the bullet. Both he and our waiter, Tyler helped me find something new besides my "go to" meat item, which they had a good selection. I've got to say I really enjoyed myself to the new taste. While he was in heaven. The staff was friendly and attentive. We definitely come back. I'd love to try the Lobster Pot Pie!

The food was good, but the service from our waiter was disappointing. He just seemed completely put out. And I'm note sure why he made some judgement from the start towards us. We noticed that he behaved much politer and friendlier to the table next to us. This is an example of how service from your waiter can pretty much ruin the night. Food was good, bartender was very nice during our pre dinner drinks.

We love going to Roy's. The drinks, like Roy's Mai tai and Hawaiian martini, are always better than average. On our last visit, we had Monchong and Opakapaka and both fishes were delicious. We also had their tuna poke which was great though a little salty. The decadent Lobster Mac and Cheese is a must order. Bok Choy was freshly made and delicious as well. The dessert, the famous chocolate cake, is worth the visit. Our waiter aimed to please and was polite, friendly and attentive. Could not ask for a better time.

I was disappointed in the food. Price wise this restaurant can be compared to other high end restaurants, and the ambiance was nice. But the food was hit and miss. Lobster potstickers were pretty good; lobster pot pie was disappointing...not much flavor. Chilean sea bass was ok. Vegetable tempura was heavy on the breading, not real light; and cold. Dessert was wonderful....chocolate souffle. Since it was our anniversary, they had a small display on the table wishing us HA. Very nice touch. We'd give it another chance because of the service. Taylor was our waiter, but the other staff was also excellent.

Roy's is my go-to special occasion restaurant. The seafood is always the best in Dallas, the wines are excellent, and the service is always the best. I had the Dynamite Baked Hawaiian Moonchong (fish) for the first time, and was blown away. It was one of the best seafood dishes I've ever eaten. The tempura bok choy was unusual, mostly because I'm not a big bok choy fan, and it was pretty good, too. I DEFINITELY recommend the Maui Wowie Shrimp Salad - that's another one I'll be having again and again. I would place Roy's as one of the five best restaurants in Dallas.

I didn't enjoy the food at all. The lobster mac and, cheese, was bland, with no distinctive taste, could even taste the lovster. I did love the opakapaka, it was worth it, but butterfly and salmon, we're just ok. Dinner was 240$ for 2 people. I wouldn't eat there again, not worth the value of the, cost.

Never heard of Roy's before, much less of Hawaiian Fusion; however, this was a wonderful find thanks to Open Table. The appetizers were wonderful, the drinks creative (the Jalapeño Margarita is a must for the brave of heart!), and the entres amazing. Service is fantastic, constant without being intrusive and quite accommodating to our special requests. Will definitely go back to Roy's Plano next time I am in the Dallas neighborhood.

Such a versatile restaurant...the bar is vibrant, the restaurant is social or romantic. We ate at the kitchen and opted for a more social atmosphere. We were promptly seated and knew what we wanted to order as we had studied the online menu. Everything we ordered was perfectly timed, the perfect temperature, the perfect doneness, and tasted excellent! Lobster potstickers came first and were perfectly presented and cooked. Highly recommend the apple walnut salad. It comes with feta, but I opted for bleu cheese, which added a great taste. Of course, the petite filet and butter poached lobster was heavenly, but barely beat out by the chocolate soufflé and espresso! Enjoy...we will be going back soon!

Small group of 7 went on a Monday night. Not too busy when we arrived, but very active by the time we left. Service was just about perfect...not overbearing, not absent for too long a time. Food was, well it was what I've come to expect from Roy's: Exceptional all around. From the appetizers to the main courses (we elected to go "family style" all around, and that worked out really well for us) to the desserts, it was a really really great experience. Not sure I'd take a large group on a late-week or weekend night, but it worked well for our business discussions. I will not hesitate going again, large group or for a date.

Love the atmosphere at Roy's and the drink menu is creative and fun. Started with the calamari which was excellent. Trio of Roy's fish entrees (miso salmon, nut-encrusted mahi mahi, and butterfish) was a great entree that lets you sample some of Roy's favorites. Coming back to try the lobster pot pie. My side was truffled bacon mac and cheese which was wonderful. Of course we had the chocolate souffle for dessert, a perfect finish. Service was extremely friendly and attentive.

Have been to several Roy's. This one, as well as others, has delicious food. Lobster dumplings were very good, altho only 1 of the 5 actually tasted like lobster. Walnut apple salad was phenominal. They easily accommodated my requests to change fish dish & veggie. Opakapaka with crushed macadamias instead of almonds; so yummy! Preodering the pineapple upsidedown cake was suggested by server Ted & SO WORTH IT! He was very helpful with menu and very friendly. Mgr stopped by twice to make sure we were happy. We go to Roy's on special occasions. The service is always fantastic. The food was delicious as usual, though we were a little surprised at how some of the portion sizes for the fish have gone down significantly. This is a sign of the times, I'm sure, but still a bit of a surprise given the pricing. Overall, we were still very glad that we went.
