  • "Overall this was a wonderful experience! 1st time in Jax Bch & 1st time at Roy's for me. Husband had eaten at others. 1st table offered was in back of restaurant next to exit door, asked for something better and was given a beautiful half round booth but next to front foyer. Waiter was fantastic, made great suggestions for both wines and entrees. Took advantage of their special meal menu where you choose salads, main dish and dessert. Great price. However, Hanger steak was under cooked and very hard to cut-had a great flavor though! Shrimp and chicken was the way to go. Waiter took our photo and handed us a picture in frame before leaving. Restaurant was close to our hotel so it all worked out well."

  • "Our server was awesome, she brought out appetizers to try because it was the first time we decided to dine at Roy's. I ordered her recommendation of a fish that I had never heard of before and was not impressed at all. She offered to bring me out the swordfish instead and then some one else, I'm guessing a manager , came over to us to tell me they were out. He told me that he put in an order for another fish and when it came out I was not pleased at all. Not only was my guest already done with her whole meal but the plate was very bland. Overall it is a beautiful restaurant but I was not impressed by the menu."

Our waiter had a nice personality and was very attentive . We did have to wait about 10min. for our reservation and the noise level was high. The chocolate cake was a wonderful way to end our meal. Will return."

  • "Everything was great until I pulled a hair out of my mouth from the calamari appetizer I had been eating and the server was at our table just in time to see me do it. While there were apologies all around, the only thing they did was remove the cost of the appetizer from our bill. I would have thought that an upscale restaurant like Roy's would have done something more. And, while I understand that these things happen despite the hair nets worn in the kitchen, it does not make me want to go back any time soon."

  • "Anything that was requested by my elderly and eccentric mother-in-law was fulfilled with respect and kindness. The next day she was still talking about the treatment she received. Our party had either the butterfish or the salmon. Everyone enjoyed their meal immensely and every plate was clean except for the bok choy cores. A really enjoyable dinner."

While i was not expecting heat in any of the dishes I ordered, it still showed up like Serendipity: the fortunate finding of something unknown before. The service was excellent and our server (Kyle) worked with our small special requests to leave things out (like onions). I am looking forward to returning to Roy's to try more of the menu."

  • "I was really looking forward to ordering Roy's Trio. I had it before and it was Delicious! This time, it was overcooked and tasted nothing like the last time:( The other 3 people enjoyed their dinners but did not rave. Nothing special. Given the pricing, the food needs to be special. We also ordered Roy's Lava Cake for dessert. What happened to it? It is much smaller than it used to be! It IS tasty but too small. Again, a disappointment. The waitress graciously removed the charge for my dinner and the other couple had a $25. Off coupon. The cost per couple was about $110. That is a lot to pay for food that is just good:( The chairs in the back dining room (which is quieter than the main dining room) are very uncomfortable."

  • "We treated our parents to dinner on Fathers Day and they enjoyed it immensely. Everything was delicious, especially my husbands andouille encrusted fish dish--I have NEVER tried okra that tasted that good! The fried rice and mac & cheese sides were a bit of a disappointment but nonetheless good. The pineapple upside down cake for dessert was a winner, as always. My only irritation was the server's immediate push to what was far and away the most expensive wine on the list in the category we were interested in and I knew it would be before I even opened the list to look and it was suggested before really spending any time questioning us about what we like, drink, etc. Came off as very "trained"."

This is listed on Opentable at $$ when it should be 3 or maybe 4 ( like Capital Grill), so we incurred sticker shock ( $12 appetizers, several entrees priced over $30, wine by the glass is on the high side also). I would recommend the restaurant but check the menu online before going. These prices are on the side for Jax and Jax Beach fine dining restaurants. And Opentable should change it to at least 3 $$$."

  • "Our most recent visit to Roy's was to share an intimate dinner with a close friend on leave from Afghanistan. I requested that we I requested that we be seated in the Wine Room. a quiet, private function room in the back of the main dining area. I was informed that that it is usually closed weeknights. I explained the nature of our visit and was told they would see what they could do. When we arrived the hostess explained that they had opened the Wine Room just for us. That proved to just be the beginning of a wonderful evening. As usual, the food, beverages and service were superb. This was just the latest in a long and memorable list of great dining experiences at Roy's."

  • "We had not been to Roy's in a while, and previously only for dinner. Our prior experiences were good, and food (especially fish) was always excellent. The prices have always been high, but felt to be worth it. We went this time to splurge on Easter brunch, expecting the same. It included a tiny appetizer and a very small entrée, both just ok. This was $34. Any beverage such as coffee and juice was additional; a single mimosa was $9. Dessert was also a hefty additonal cost. Although the service was excellent, we did not feel the limited food experience justified such a high price. We do not plan to go back for brunch again."
