We were celebrating a birthday and they made sure everyone knew! Complete with a personalized birthday platter for dessert. The food was good but there may be a small mismatch between food and price. We are used to splurging on amazing restaurants now and then but for the price we weren't that impressed. It was a good meal but not something we would try again. Our service was amazing and everyone was incredibly attentive and friendly.

My wife and I introduced another couple to Roy's Desert Ridge which is located in the JW Marriott. As usual the food and service were great. My wife an I had the special lobster pot stickers, filet and lobster tail. The filet was as tender as any steakhouse and the lobster tail melted in your mouth. My filet actually had a piece of grizzle in it and Samantha (our server) immediately took the filet back to the kitchen and informed the manager. They brought me a new entrée even though I had eaten half of my lobster tail. The manager also insisted on buying us a dessert but we only ordered one and shared it with the table. Our friends had the shrimp entrée and butterfish, which was outstanding. FYI get you valet ticket validated to save $5.

We have been to Roy's in Chicago, Hawaii and another location in the Valley. This was our first time at the Desert Ridge location. The service was excellent, the food was good (but not outstanding) and the ambiance was fine. We dined indoors, but the outdoor area at the resort where this restaurant is located is great and I would recommend sitting outside to other diners.

We split the lobster dumpling appetizer and three-course meal. The lobster was great, salad had no dressing and was bitter (waiter brought some extra and that helped); the three shrimp on the entrée were grilled nicely, but the small pieces of chicken had no flavor, and only a minute amt of veggie sides--we left hungry. The little amt of food compared to how expensive everything is (spent over $55 on food) was disappointing.

The noise level was beyond energetic due to a large party adjacent to our table. This plus children racing around and lying on the floor while adults shouted and flashed cameras in our eyes made the dining experience terrible and our rapid exit after finishing the entree necessary In addition, the charge for parking in addition to the tip adds unnecessary cost to the experience. Glad to be home

i was expecting more a more sushi type menu and discovered a distinct Hawaiian theme to the offerings. the swordfish with forbidden black rice was excellent. the veggie side of tempura was not very edible...raw sweet potato, ick. the broccoli and mushrooms were good but everything else was not edible! i wished i had tried the lobster potstickers. they sounded wonderful. really nice waiter. wine list was broad enough in varietals and prices to please almost everyone.

Hawaiian Fusion.Lots of fish with interesting reductions. However, be very careful with what you choose. Our lobster roll and shrimp salad appetizers were quite good. The feta and capers in the latter were so overwhelming, however, that the shrimp and salad part needed a ton of water to reduce the salt on the palette.Butterfish excellent.Lobster pot pie just atrocious.Gummy pastry, tasteless lobster (huh, how is that possible), overwhelming onions, no English peas, gluey sauce.Just screamed of pre-assembled in the casserole, refrigerated for days and popped in the oven to order.White chocolate cheesecake dessert excellent.Overall a good dining experience.BTW, your car is held hostage for $5 for the hotel...plus valet. Self-park may be more.

Christopher the Manager was very attentive. the waitress asked how the calamari was and we said OK. She must have told the Manager as he approached the table and wanted to know what was wrong. It was chewy. He told us of all our options which were more than we needed. After this - the Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi and the Ahi were "phenomenal". We had been there about a year ago and the quality of food had really deteriorated. BUT Roy's is back !! Definitely will be going back , because of the food and Christopher.

I love going to Roy's! We have been to several locations throughout the country. This location continues the tradition of excellent food. The staff is kind and helpful with the menu and choosing wines. Our waiter even had a little time to talk to us about the area. I had the butterfish which is my favorite. It was fixed to perfection. My husband had the grouper and said it melted in his mouth. It was a wonderful evening to have great conversation. We did not have the lava cake but it is my favorite also. I highly recommend Roy's.

The server was great! We ordered the shrimp & pork potsticker appetizer and it was very good, the sauce had a nice kick to it. The calamari was a bit chewy. The breading didn't stick to it well, but the basil dipping sauce was delicious. However, I wouldn't get it again. The fish trio was excellent! And the filet & lobster was great too, a little over done, but still had great flavor & tenderness. We also tried the truffle mac which was very good! I'd recommend coming here, just skip on the calamari.

We were looking forward to a fabulous dinner as we were staying at the JW Marriott in Phoenix for a Staycation over July 4th week-end. We have eaten at Roys and recommended to some friends who drove up to meet us. Our drinks and appetizers were very good but the main course, a fish entree (Ono) was not cooked properly and we had to send it back twice. The first time it was very overcooked and tough / tastless. The second time it was barely cooked. Our server agreed but by that time we decided not to try a third time. Overall we were very disappointed with Roys

Very disappointed again. Thought we would give it another try since our visit in January which was also mediocre. I had the Alaea Salt Crusted Bone in Ribeye, it was tough and fatty. My wife had the Misoyaki "Butterfish" which the Miso was so overpowering. Could not taste the fish. I gave this a fair review based on the 25 plus times we have dined here in the past. Almost tempted to give it poor for service and food.

We took 89 yr old Mom for her birthday. She was given a card by the staff and received a special dessert. The lobster and filet dinner special was excellent. However, we were not told that you only get the lobster & filet, no potato & no veggies. The lobster pot stickers were included with the special and they were also excellent. When we were seated the wait staff came by right away and during the meal the assistant waiter was attentive with ice tea refills and clearing the table. That is until the main course was served and then service fell off and they disappeared. It was not crowded so they were not busy. We had to flag down a different server to place dessert order. Our waiter just fell short at the end of the meal. Would recommend

I have dined here many times when ever I am in Phoenix for a convention at the JW. Food and service is always great and my overall restaurant experience is always great. This visit I must say that the portion size of my mail course ( Butter fish ) was way to small. The entree was excellent, just way to small a portion to satisfy me for dinner.

After a visit to Roy's on Kauai last month I vowed to never eat at a Roy's again. But a traveling companion wanted to eat here at desert Ridge this week and I reluctantly agreed. What a pleasant surprise! We ate outside and weather was perfect. Myself and another had the Chef special Ono cooked med-rare and it was excellent. Best fish I've had in a long time. Another companion had the three fish special which he also remarked was excellent. We couldn't have been more pleased. Especially for these three critical people. It just shows not all Roy's are the same.

I have been to the Desert Ridge Roy's multiple times over the years. Whether for business or personal, they always are impressive. Unfortunately, not on Mother's Day. Our service was VERY slow, and the top-dollar fish entres were all COLD. I still recommend Roy's at this location for the beauty of the grounds, but my family and I will not be visiting for another holiday event.
