Starting with the waiter, Zach,...he seemed to be in such a hurry. He did describe things and answer questions but with great speed. He always appeared to and did "run away". The menu was tantalizing but the food did fulfill the description. The tough ravioli side was hard along the edges, difficult to even cut. Macadamia crust on the fish was marginal. My guest felt the short ribs lacked any depth of flavor. For the price, all four of us felt the food did not measure up. We frequent fine restaurants but this, our first time at Roy's, was also our last.

There are good and great Roy's. The Desert Ridge location renewed our love affair with Roy's. The food was outstanding, our server was attentive but not over the top. Even the drinks were generous. We are locals, and can go to any Restaurant, but we will return to Roy's in the Marriott Resort.

Disappointed in the change (new sauce) they have added to the butterfish. The butterfish has always been my favoriyte @ Roy's but the new sauce they have added to it was salty and ruined the dish. Sometimes change is not good.

After reading many great reviews about Roy's we were excited to go but ultimately very disappointed. I should point out we were there for Aloha Hour - great outdoor setting with live music but very poor food. The sliders were so overcooked they were like pucks and the so-called sushi had a deep fried quality to it that totally undermined the point of fresh sushi. We ordered almost everything on the menu and from a fresh and flavorful point of view, nothing hit the mark. We ultimately abandoned our dishes and went elsewhere for dinner. That said, this was happy hour and perhaps dinner at Roy's is of a higher quality. Will we test this theory? Probably not. One experience speaks volumes.

We had an amazing experience at Roys last week! The food was great! The special touches with the children was wonderful. We had a 12 yr old and an 18 month old with us and we were thrilled that our children were acknowledge and treated so well. They were brought quesadillas as soon as we were seated. A DVD player with "Dora" was delivered for the baby and she was an angel for rest of the evening! I have never been so impressed by the way a restaurant treated children as it was that evening. Thank you! Our dinner was delicious and the evening was fabulous!!

Finally. A good place when you crave fish. After living in Seattle for 15 years, this happens often to us. Unfortunately, since moving to Scottsdale we have been highly disappointed in the fish restaurants. So, forget Eddie V's. Forget The Ocean Club. Go to Roy's. Why we didn't know about this place I really don't know. We will go back. Hear the happy hour is great as well. Yippee.

We had an AMAZING dinner at Roy's. The food was incredible, I would highly recommend the calamari as an appetizer. I personally ordered the Halibut and others in my party ordered the filet and the trio of seafood. Everything was absolutely mouthwatering. Then to end the evening we had the chocolate molten cake..FABOULOUS!!! We will be going back as soon as we can!

I cannot begin to tell you about Roy's Desert Ridge, except to say it is hands down the FINEST RESTAURANT IN THE VALLEY!! I have eaten at Roy's literally hundreds of times, at both their Desert Ridge location (inside the Marriott Desert Ridge Hotel), as well as the Roy's in Baltimore where I am originally from. We try to eat there weeekly. Once you go, I promise you you will return as it is that good. Chef Mako does an extraordinary job, often asking our opinion on new dishes he is putting together. I love the blend of Japanese and Hawaii Roy's is known for. If there is a better place for Sushi in the US, I have not found it. You can fine dine at tables, and there is outdoor seating, but we love the chefs counter were the action is!!!

We went to Roy's for our anniversary. The service was great and they even had a small surprise anniversary cake for us after we finished our meal. I ordered the surf and turf and the surf was not very good but the manager promptly took it off the check and replaced it with a very good butter fish dish. She also gave us the extra chocolate lava cake dessert at no charge. My husband had the Macadamia nut mahi mahi and that was excellent. My filet steak that came with the surf and turf was very tender and tasty. We would go to Roy's again for our next anniversary. The private booth was extra nice touch which made the occasion a little more special.Suzanne

I had the $29 mixed appetizer (very good) & my date had the Frix Fix menu-he was disappointed the entree was abbreviated, although the appetizer & dessert seemed to be full size. If that entree was not smaller than reg menu entrees, I can't imagine an entree alone being sufficient. A small piece of Mahi w/4 spinach leaves under it and a tiny portion of corn puree that we thought was a sauce until we asked & not the side promised(Kohlrabi). The waiter said each meal has a starch which was missing. The veggies w/the Trout sounded more promising(Vegetable Angelotti,Baby Squash,Corn Purée) & actually where the corn was listed. We shared the appie and other meal and both left hungry after spending $85(& I didn't even have a drink)

My husband & I have only been to one other Roy's (in Oahu) but this one definitely takes the cake! The food, service & ambiance were all superb. I requested a table outside & was not disappointed, the patio was delightful. The service was impeccable, with a server (Jeffery) and server in traing (Brandon) taking care of everything for us. The food was absolutely amazing, surf & turf for me and braised short ribs for my husband. We finished the night off with an upside down pineapple cake. We couldn't have asked for a better evening. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in town.

Unfortunately, this started out all wrong. We were taking advantage of happy hour prior to our dinner experience. My mojito arrived with black floaters that were way mint leaves way passed prime! The server was not available so I took the drink directly to the bar tender who was surprised. He fixed a replacement and the restaurant manager delivered it without apology. We briefly discussed a previous poor experience at another Roys and she assured us we were fine. After discussing the bad mojito my wife and I decided we did not want to chance dinner. The manager seemed surprised at our decision and credited the $6 mojito. I don't think the manager ever knew about the first bad drink but only was the delivery person for the second.
