Diner Reviews
  • "Fine meals, and also sensitive to a gluten-free dining experience."

  • "We have always enjoyed the place, and we were lured back by a three course special which my wife declared to be "One of the best meals [she] ever ate!". I had the chef's creation - barramundi in a crab sauce, and it too was outstanding."

  • "I have been to more than 20 Roys in my lifetime and this place at least 2 dozen times. This location is starting to be disappointing. First of all, flecks of something in the water glass. Secondly her menu was dirty in the inside with crumbs on most pages and mine was old and had paper rubbed off in a spot. Our waiter had hands that appeared as if he was doing construction work before coming to work and kept touching us while talking to us. He didn't understand "gluten free" and told us that pasta was an "egg noodle" implying it would be OK for her to eat. The cappuccino came out after the desert had been finished, albeit ordered at the end of the entree. No one came over to check on us. All in all, not a normal Roy's experience."

  • "Another visit to Roy's, this time to celebrate my mother's birthday. As always, Roy's delivers and does not disappoint. From the special menu birthday welcome to the birthday photo and complimentary dessert, Roy's made the night special. Everyone enjoyed the food and the service was excellent as usual. Great drinks and cocktails. Roy's still remains my favorite restaurant. If you haven't tried it, you are missing out! I highly recommend the pineapple upside down cake! You don't just have dinner, you have an "experience"!"

  • "Fantastic service !!!! Upon arrival to the end of our meal. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and made it a perfect night.Food was phenomenal from the appetizers that we ordered to the main entree."Butterfish" hands down was the best. The Hawaian Martini complemented it perfectly.Entree's were not cheap but is all worth it.We'll definitely see Roy's again."

  • "Expected great flavors that is usually associated with the Pacific Rim food. What we found was run of the mill bland and over cooked! The service was slow, not due to the wait staff though as they were having to apologize for the delays. Took over 20 minutes to get two glasses of the house wine! For considerably less money, we could have gone to Long John Silvers and gotten better tasting food and better service! The overpriced wine list is disappointingly barren of good wines. The wines averaged 500% markup, where most high end restaurants only run them up 200% to 300% and have a good selection."

  • "Great pairing menu. Wine and food excellent. Also, met Roy!"

  • "The reception staff is always friendly; the wait staff is always helpful and professional; and the kitchen staff always prepares fabulous entrees. Roy's is the only place we go for special celebrations."

  • "Brought my wife and friends to celebrate her birthday. Everyone on the staff was just spectacular, as was the food. Made it a birthday celebration to remember! Thank you, Roy's, for making my wife's birthday so special."

  • "I never see anyone else ordering this, but the Roy's Lobster Pot Pie is a real treat. It does take a while for it to arrive. Ordered it twice - average time to table is about 20 minutes. Time enough for a drink and awkward conversation. Packed with lobster and sauce that is just a bit spicy, it comes out hot and you cannot wait to dig in. But...you need to let it cool down for a bit. We put a couple of spoonfuls on a side plate so we can get started quicker. The top crust is flakey and not overpowering."

  • "I had a gift card to use for dinner and a bonus card that I didn't realize had expired but the staff honored the bonus card. The service was extraordinary from the front door to the servers and the support wait staff. Save room for dessert the chocolate soufflé and pineapple upside down cake was incredible."

  • "The atmosphere was lovely, our food was outstanding (as always!), but our waitress left much to be desired. Very snotty and borderline rude, she made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. She definitely soured our evening a bit, but not enough to deter us from going back (our server last time was AMAZING!!!!!). And all of the other staff that we encountered were very polite and welcoming :-)"

  • "This was our first time. I have several friends who really like Roy's. The restaurant is nice, and the service was excellent but the food was somewhat lacking in flavor. We started with the pot stickers and ahi roll, which were ok but nothing special. My wife had the Macadamia Nut Mahi Mahi, which didn't really have much flavor at all. I had the short ribs, again ok but not much on the flavor. We tried each other's dishes and have very different palates (she's mild/I'm spicy) and neither of us was really impressed with either dish. Another person had the Filet, which they said was very good. The cheesecake and chocolate soufflé were excellent. Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen. I'll debate another visit. "

  • "Spent a very pleasant evening dining on the patio, the tiki torches add to an already great atmosphere. Our entire party thourghly enjoyed themselves, there was a mix up on our cocktail order, but that was a minor detail considering the filet mignon was cooked to perfection, and the dessert soufflé was a decadent treat. Looking forward to a return visit."

  • "Visited Roy's as part of AZ restaurant t week. Great spot, unexpectedly great food. Nice atmosphere and great attentive and knowledgeable staff. Our server Eric had just right in his approach. It's definitely going to be a spot we will return to again."

  • "This was our first experience at a 5-star restaurant and I have to say it was fantastic. The service; from the hostess to the server and the server assistants was excellent. The ambiance was fairly casual but we did not feel out of place dressed up in a suit for myself and an evening dress for my lady. The food was amazing, we will definitely be back."

  • "Celebrated my friend a teacher not working and me a breast cancer survivor going back to work after 15 months of treatment. Fixed price meal a good deal, something for everyone, and the happy hour drinks looked good. Just back to work needed to keep my head clear. 6 months from now I may be there."

  • "We attended restaurant week and Roy's had a great price with even better food. We have been to a few restaurant week places that are $40 that are not nearly as good as Roy's. We almost went a second time."

  • "Went during Restaurant week! Although it was fully booked, we were seated exactly at our reservation time. Service was excellent by both the waiter and busboy. And then, everything we had was delicious. From the tuna rolls to the magi, to the very last bite of dessert. Would definitely recommend. "

  • "Dining at Roy's is always a treat. The atmosphere is quiet & romantic. The service is prompt, but not rushed. The dishes are creative and deliver maximum taste. For this visit we enjoyed the restaurant week special which was a 3 course meal for $30/pp. The potstickers & Mahi roll appetizers were oh so tasty. She had the macadamia crusted mahi mahi entrée which was done to perfection while I tried the braised short ribs. I usually prefer my meat medium rare, so this probably wasn't the best choice for me, but it was still enjoyable. The desserts were absolutely amazing. We don't usually get them, but it was part of the special and boy are we glad....Overall you can't go wrong here. It's like dining on vacation in Hawaii...mahalo!"

  • "The atmosphere, food and service is excellent. The value of your meal is very reasonable. Plus making a reservation is easy and time sensitive. We have never been disappointed. The service and food is as good as your location on wakiki beach. "

  • "Been here many times and it's always very good. Service is attentive and helpful. Food excellent. I always wind up ordering the seared tuna and haven't been disappointed. Decaf coffee afterwards was not hot but readily corrected by our server. Ambience is romantic. If a special occasion, they take a picture of the party and give you a complimentary desert. Better than the one in Honolulu, I think."

  • "We had a very delicious meal. I had petite filet and lobster - cooked to perfection. My husband had short ribs and the meat fell off the bones. So wonderful! They also have a gluten free menu or will make your dinner to taste. We always do special occasion dinners at Roy's. Special occasions are celebrated if you tell them a head of time. We will be back to try their special Happy Hour soon. Thanks for making it a very special birthday"

  • "The food was amazing, but our waitress was awesome! She was so nice and since it was our first time there gave us great recommendations and popular dishes. The whole experience was great. It was my boyfriends birthday and they took a picture and printed a copy for us! I really enjoyed dining here. The good was great, the drinks were delicious and the ambiance is exactly what I was looking for. I definitely recommend! "
