Love Roy's and have been at several in Hawaii, Philadelphia and this is our local favorite. Always enjoy the wonderfully prepared and delicious food and beautiful presentation. Tried Chef Red's menu, excellent! Service is great and ambience is nice, just usually busier now so not as quiet. They are great with making occasions such as birthdays and annniversaries special with special menus, picture and complimentary dessert with birthday or anniversary message. Remains one of our favorite restaurants.

We hadn't been to Roy's for probably a year. We had a sushi roll for an appetizer and it was very good. For dinner my wife had the Butterfish and I had the SeaBass. Both dishes were absolutely fabulous. For desert she had the chocolate brownie with ice cream and didn't really care for it. The waitress noticed and without asking us had the manager remove from the bill. On the way home and even yesterday we still discussing how good the food was on Friday night. So we had a great dinner and dining experience and would highly recommend this restaurant.

We have always enjoyed the place, and we were lured back by a three course special which my wife declared to be "One of the best meals [she] ever ate!". I had the chef's creation - barramundi in a crab sauce, and it too was outstanding.

I have been to more than 20 Roys in my lifetime and this place at least 2 dozen times. This location is starting to be disappointing. First of all, flecks of something in the water glass. Secondly her menu was dirty in the inside with crumbs on most pages and mine was old and had paper rubbed off in a spot. Our waiter had hands that appeared as if he was doing construction work before coming to work and kept touching us while talking to us. He didn't understand "gluten free" and told us that pasta was an "egg noodle" implying it would be OK for her to eat. The cappuccino came out after the desert had been finished, albeit ordered at the end of the entree. No one came over to check on us. All in all, not a normal Roy's experience.

Another visit to Roy's, this time to celebrate my mother's birthday. As always, Roy's delivers and does not disappoint. From the special menu birthday welcome to the birthday photo and complimentary dessert, Roy's made the night special. Everyone enjoyed the food and the service was excellent as usual. Great drinks and cocktails. Roy's still remains my favorite restaurant. If you haven't tried it, you are missing out! I highly recommend the pineapple upside down cake! You don't just have dinner, you have an "experience"!

Fantastic service !!!! Upon arrival to the end of our meal. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and made it a perfect night.Food was phenomenal from the appetizers that we ordered to the main entree."Butterfish" hands down was the best. The Hawaian Martini complemented it perfectly.Entree's were not cheap but is all worth it.We'll definitely see Roy's again.

  • Uninspired, bland food!

Expected great flavors that is usually associated with the Pacific Rim food. What we found was run of the mill bland and over cooked! The service was slow, not due to the wait staff though as they were having to apologize for the delays. Took over 20 minutes to get two glasses of the house wine! For considerably less money, we could have gone to Long John Silvers and gotten better tasting food and better service! The overpriced wine list is disappointingly barren of good wines. The wines averaged 500% markup, where most high end restaurants only run them up 200% to 300% and have a good selection.

  • Just Lobster Pot Pie

I never see anyone else ordering this, but the Roy's Lobster Pot Pie is a real treat. It does take a while for it to arrive. Ordered it twice - average time to table is about 20 minutes. Time enough for a drink and awkward conversation. Packed with lobster and sauce that is just a bit spicy, it comes out hot and you cannot wait to dig in. But...you need to let it cool down for a bit. We put a couple of spoonfuls on a side plate so we can get started quicker. The top crust is flakey and not overpowering.

The atmosphere was lovely, our food was outstanding (as always!), but our waitress left much to be desired. Very snotty and borderline rude, she made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. She definitely soured our evening a bit, but not enough to deter us from going back (our server last time was AMAZING!!!!!). And all of the other staff that we encountered were very polite and welcoming :-)

This was our first time. I have several friends who really like Roy's. The restaurant is nice, and the service was excellent but the food was somewhat lacking in flavor. We started with the pot stickers and ahi roll, which were ok but nothing special. My wife had the Macadamia Nut Mahi Mahi, which didn't really have much flavor at all. I had the short ribs, again ok but not much on the flavor. We tried each other's dishes and have very different palates (she's mild/I'm spicy) and neither of us was really impressed with either dish. Another person had the Filet, which they said was very good. The cheesecake and chocolate soufflé were excellent. Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen. I'll debate another visit.

Spent a very pleasant evening dining on the patio, the tiki torches add to an already great atmosphere. Our entire party thourghly enjoyed themselves, there was a mix up on our cocktail order, but that was a minor detail considering the filet mignon was cooked to perfection, and the dessert soufflé was a decadent treat. Looking forward to a return visit.

Dining at Roy's is always a treat. The atmosphere is quiet & romantic. The service is prompt, but not rushed. The dishes are creative and deliver maximum taste. For this visit we enjoyed the restaurant week special which was a 3 course meal for $30/pp. The potstickers & Mahi roll appetizers were oh so tasty. She had the macadamia crusted mahi mahi entrée which was done to perfection while I tried the braised short ribs. I usually prefer my meat medium rare, so this probably wasn't the best choice for me, but it was still enjoyable. The desserts were absolutely amazing. We don't usually get them, but it was part of the special and boy are we glad....Overall you can't go wrong here. It's like dining on vacation in Hawaii...mahalo!
