My wife and I have been here numerous times and have always found the place lively with excellent seafood and a good matching wine list. The server was very pleasant and made us feel at home so we had no reason to complain. The place is a bit noisy with everyone talking louder than the table next to them but that does seem to be the style these days. We enjoy going here and will be back.

Roy's has been our special occasion go to for years. We won't be back anytime soon. Booked through open table for 8:30. Barely acknowledged when we got there and waited a while to be seated. Service went down hill from there. The food was OK but not as good as in the past and definitely not worth the wait and the $$$

We ate at Roy's in Hawaii and liked it very much. I was a little disappointed at the menu in Baltimore. We both had a hard time ordering. I finally settled on the Sea Bass. It was very good. Not real crazy about the side dish of quinoa and black beans, but it was ok. The tables were a little close together, so we chatted with a couple of sister's next to us who were celebrating a December birthday in August! They got free desserts.

Roy's in Baltimore had a familiar feel to it as you enter the restaurant. The menu too has similar items with special entrees depending upon the chef. Once the food arrived it was as one has come to expect...terrific. However the server was inattentive which overshadowed the experience. There were times during the meal, 30 minutes, when the server was no where to be found. He never followed up and brought the check without asking if members of the party wanted coffee etc. we were happy to leave.

We have not been to a Roy's since the one in Philadelphia closed a couple years ago. We had always liked their food and were delighted to have an opportunity to dine at the one in Baltimore. If anything, the food was even better than we remembered. I ordered what for me was a new dish, the lobster pot pie. It was incredible. Flaky crust, a wonderfully tasty sauce, fresh potatoes, carrots and peas, and a very generous portion of lobster meat. The service was even better than the food. Our server, T.J., is a superstar - a pleasant, outgoing personality and very knowledgeable about the menu, he swung by our table several times to make sure we had everything we needed. All in all, a superb experience.

this restaurant was always one of my favorites. However, this evening was very unpleasant. There was a large party in the same room as us that felt they were in their own homes with yelling, children running around the dinning room, adults getting up and walking around yelling at each other and hair combing over by another table of restaurant guests (not theirs). We were not the only people disgusted!

I was very excited to go here since I lived in Hawaii. We came in to celebrate our anniversary, which they made special with a framed quote & taking our picture. Our reservation was for 7 but we came in early for Aloha hour. The drinks were great. I have not had a good Mai Tai since I left the islands until my visit to Roys. We enjoyed appetizers (pork & shrimp gyoza & ahi roll) at the bar & both were delicious. We ordered off the restaurant week menu & the Rangoons and short ribs roll were again very delicious. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly & served over perfectly done potatoes with green beans. I normally hate dessert, but the warm torte even had me eating it & not wanting to share.

My wife and i recently went to Roy's for our anniversary. This was the first time either one of us had been to Roy's. I was very happy with the food and the restaurant week prices, however, We were rushed through all three courses and the Waiter did not like that after my wife ordered her two drinks that i did not order an alcoholic beverage. I understand up-selling but it was almost badgering, making recommendations that made no sense. Sadly that was not the worst part. After we received our bill i presented a credit card to pay, he came back about 10 minutes later and told me that their credit card machine was not working and could I go across the street to the ATM to pay in cash. Very unprofessional for such a so called nice restaurant.

We were seated immediately upon our arrival. My wife made a comment to the hostess who seated us, who responded with something about her boyfriend sharing something in common. A couple of minutes later, I heard the same hostess modifying her spiel about her boyfriend for another set of diners. When our waiter came over, she asked, "is this the xxxx party?" And the overly-rehearsed process continued. Our waiter obviously had a personality and could have been been great on her own, but the whole thing felt like a machine. Don't tell me that pies take extra time so we should order ahead; that's just trying to upsell before we're full. The food? Very good for both of us. Drinks? My wife loved her mixed drinks. Just be yourselves!!!

everything was over-greasy, poorly seasoned and poorly executed. very disappointed being from Hawaii myself and having this as the representation of Hawaiian cuisine. We had the butterfish wraps, the bibimbap, the lobster dumplings and the vegetable tempura. the only redeeming dish was the semifreddo I had for desert.

I only go to Roy's when I'm traveling since we don't have one in DC. And every time I go to one, it is a great meal. I have been to their restaurants in San Francisco, Arizona, Honolulu & now Baltimore. Honolulu is still my favorite. I always order the butterfish, molten chocolate cake and the hawaiian martini, and the buttefish is simply amazing!!! I had the trio - salmon, mahi & butterfish the other night and the buttefish stole the show. So I ordered another entree. Then I ended my meal with the chocolate cake. I love Roy's and I Am looking forward to my next visit.

The management was awesome as well there was a small hickup with my relative order but it was corrected immediately and was compensated with out our knowing at the end with a lovely to die for desert I told him that this was not necessary and he said no way we like to take care of our guest it left this lasing impresion and i am for ever a Roys customer!!!! Roy's is one of my "go to" restaurants. But the one downside is the noise level. OpenTable calls it energetic - and it is. But if you're just having a quiet dinner with family or friends - this isn't the place to be (at least not this past Tuesday night). There's nothing wrong with the restaurant at all - and I still highly recommend it. But to go there is to accept the fact that at time the noise levels reach that "energetic" level whether you're prepared for it or not.

I consider myself a Roy's "regular" since I eat there often and have eaten at numerous locations. As commented in my reviews in the past, there really is nothing that can be said from a negative perspective about the food. The service on the other hand seems to be a hit or miss at the Baltimore location. I'm sorry if I think there is more to a server doing his/her job than merely taking the order and then showing up once during the meal and then once to take a dessert order. When you buy a nice bottle of wine the server should make an attempt to pour the wine. At some restaurants they even get offended if you TRY to pour it yourself. Server was just MIA most of the time even though she was nice.
