  • "If you're looking for a 5 star dining experience in a beautiful manor home with top flight service and terrific views, Rowland's is the pace for you! very romantic with a fire burning on a cold winter night and graced with piano music from the living room. It was a thoroughly delightful experience and not at all stuffy. Severs are knowledgeable and attentive without being obtrusive. Beef tenderloin and rack of lamb were expertly cooked as ordered. We didn't indulge in desserts, but they looked equally decadent."

  • "We went for New Years per their ad about their celebration. Music ball drop etc. the piano player left at 9, and knew very few songs. He was Russian. Nice guy. Enjoyed talking with him but not what is needed for a celebration. Had to send my starter martini back. It was awful and it took 20 mins to just get our drinks. Then no napkins and we had to clear our table in the Living Room from previous guests because no one did it. Also did not bring cocktail napkins when drinks finally arrived. They were out of the lamb chops and several side dishes. The food was excellent but the service is very poor for a restaurant where you are paying these prices. By 10:30 the place was lost empty so we called our driver and left without having dessert."

  • "Boone and Blowing Rock have a fine variety of restaurants, but this is the best of the best! Everything about this eating establishment is 1st class. The atmosphere is refined, the view of the mountains is spectacular. The waitstaff is knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The citrus infused lobster was amazing. The sea bass was flavorful, light and flakey. The bill caused a few seconds of indigestion, but you get what you pay for!"

  • "Nice ambiance on enclosed patio. Very pretty views. Buffet: turkey: white and dark meat - average, mashed potatoes -very good, sweet potato casserole -pretty good, rolls -fair - cold and kind of dry, green beans -ok, gravy -ok, cranberry sauce- very runny, stuffing -large pieces of breading as stuffing, pumpkin and pecan pies. My husband ate the pumpkin and said it was bland. It appeared dry. I expected fancier and better food. The server was very sweet (Sandra). I thought $55.00 as overpriced for this average meal. We also had 2 glasses of wine, a "specialty" drink, 2 coffees with Bailey's and our bill was $200 including gratuity (which they added) for we 2. Ruth's Chris would have been cheaper and better. Definitely a disappointment."

  • "I took my date here on a special occasion and I heard that it was one of the fanciest places to go in the region. Once I sat down in the wicker chairs and realized the place was empty I had second thoughts. The food and service was great and one-of-a-kind, but I would not recommend going to eat there without the full spa package. I'm sure it would be worth it when the spa package with the dinner meal is $150+ but when just the meal came up to $75 for two, I said it would be my first and last visit."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 11 year anniversary at Rowlands. We have dined at several restaurants in the area but have never visited this restaurant. My husband said the lamb chops were the best he had ever had. They melted in his mouth. The soup was phenomenal. I wanted to lick the bowl but figured the other guests wouldn't appreciate my lack of etiquette. Great scenery. Private and definitely a great selection for celebrating a special occasion."

  • "My husband and I met our son and his girlfriend at Rowland's at Westglow. We enjoyed drinks before dinner in the Living Room of this beautiful mansion. A fire was aglow in the fireplace, the chairs and couch were very comfortable. We enjoyed our time together talking in this beautiful room prior to dinner. Then, we were relocated into the dinning area where we had a wonderful dining experience. It was intimate and we were able to talk with each other without being bothered by loud noises or loud music. It was a wonderful evening."

  • "This was our second time here. The restaurant is charming and this time we sat in the dining room with the fireplace, which the manager put on for us. (last time we sat in the sun-type room; which is nice.) We had cocktails and the manager made a champagne cocktail, which wasn't on the menu, at my wife's request. Quite good service, there. Our salads were tasty as were our entrees (my wife's steak was perfect), but both were presented as if Gordon Ramsey might be judging on appearance and pairing. The food as it appeared on the plate was kinda' kooka-monga, but, again, it was tasty. My advice: just trust your food; let it provide the "wow" factor, not some wild presentation. The dessert, Chocolate Earth, was outstanding as was the coffee."

  • "What a surprise to find a Tara looking mansion with an astounding mountain view at the end of a wooded lane. Beautiful setting and food prepared in the best of styles. A really pleasant ambiance with the exception of a frenetic piano player who could have evened it out a bit. Cheerful staff......good smiles and accommodating attitudes. Really good experience overall. Was taken aback when the waitperson refused to order our cheese plate first before the rest of the meal. Have always been accommodated to on this at other fine restaurants it was jarring to be said no to. Will return.....special place. Doorman very pleasant."

Tucked away from the obvious, Rowland's is one of the best kept secrets in the High Country. Imagine, you enter the grand foyer of this historic 1917 mansion overlooking one of the most spectacular views in our area. You are immediately greeted & shown to your perfectly set table nestled in one of the charming dining rooms. Your wine is carefully poured, a one-of-a-kind amuse bouche is set before you, & wafts of your upcoming feast start to leak out of the kitchen & tease your senses. You dine; it's fantastic, & you wonder why you've been denying yourself this unbelievable pleasure."
