The tuna tartar appetizer was perfection -- avocado puree atop the tuna in white soy sauce, not too much, not too little. The grilled halibut with risotto and zucchi8ni slices was simple and delicious. Rowes Whart Sea Grille is just amazing - we enjoyed dinner here while staying at the hotel. The view from the dining room is a gorgeous view of the Boston Harbor - overlooking boating traffic and Logan Airport. The service is fantastic and is fully matched by the outstanding food! They try to please you in any way they can and we loved having high tea, breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. Even if you are not staying in this hotel be sure and come here and dine!!!! But, they took my favorite choice, the steelhead fish off the menu. Servings,however, are always just a bit small, and I am not a big eater. Lunch salads not substantial enough without an appetizer.
A great view, and a lovely place for lunch on the patio in the summer.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI was stunned by how emptyI was stunned by how empty the dining room actually was, at 12:30 in a business week, there were only 3 occupied tables. I know during the summer season the patio is always busy with a wait to be seated. The food was well prepared however presentation was only fair. I was also a little taken aback at the very small portions of the main item on the entree.
This restaurant is a favorite of my boss for business meetings so I was anticipating something a little more. We went on Easter weekend, two families with kids ranging from 6mos to 13 yrs. First course was a delicious thick New England clam chowder. Second course was a perfectly cooked medium rare Grilled Prime Filet Mignon with Honey Mushrooms and Roasted Vegetables. The desert we had German Dark Chocolate Cake. The food was very good and the service was top notch. Great wine selection as well.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food!My friends and I went here for Boston restaurant week this week, and the clam chowder, filet, and blueberry cobbler were absolutely amazing! The only thing I would have to complain about would be when splitting the check, the waitress overcharged one of us by $10, (this would have givin her a larger tip in the end the way we figured it out) and when asked to correct the bill she was clearly annoyed. I guess a 20% tip wasn't enough for this particular person. That is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. We went for Sunday brunch.....it is the best brunch I have ever been to, and it is a great value. My husband hasn't stopped raving about his meal - halibut over saffron risotto.
