We chose the chef's three course menu and it was absolutely delicious. The bread was to die for too. My only complaint was our waitress. She was actually training so you think she's be on her A-game. Unfortunately, I feel that because we didn't order alcoholic beverages, we weren't big bucks to her, and so she didn't really seem to care to serve us. In a nutshell, my date was outstanding ... and so was my experience at Rovezzi's !!! Being of Italian descent, I basically have never left an Italian restaurant in my life satisfied. That can no longer be said. The Pappardelle Bolognese was to die for. And my fine date was very satisfied with her choice of the Salmone Arrosto. On top of that, the waitress (Laurrie I believe) made us feel like "family". Enough said. I was compelled to speak personally with the head honcho, Mr. Chris. I couldn't thank him enough. The wait staff was courteous, professional, and had a very detailed knowledge of the specials, regular menu items, and the wine list. I had the braised short ribs special and they were amazing. My father had the osso bucco and thought it was possibly the best he's ever had.
My one complaint, and the only negative of our trip was the musical performer. There was a gentleman with an acoustic guitar playing through most of our dinner. It made it a little difficult to have conversations at times, and it didn't really provide the ambiance we were hoping for. They don't have a kid's menu but bend over backwards to make either a smaller portion of something on the menu or as long as they have the ingredients anything off-menu. The food was perfect. There is an extensive wine list and each menu option has a wine pairing with it. There is also a menu option where you basically trust the chef to pick your meal. Love the live music being played - the place is noisy but you can still hold a conversation with your table. Food was great. I had the lobster stuff tortelloni which was in a lobster bisque sauce which was so good I used the bread to sop up the rest of the soup/sauce. On this visit I ordered the filet mignon, topped with goat cheese and mushrooms - it was perfection.
I ordered my steak rare, with a warm red center rather than a cold red center - this is difficult to achieve and they nailed it completely! Truly one of the best steaks I have ever had. Love the way the wine list was arranged by number to correlate to the suggested pairings for each dish on the menu--a brilliant idea! Was VERY surprised that for $12 there were only two scallops on the plate. Good but pricey compared to the HUGE portion of calarmi. Wife ordered the LISTED fillet special with crispy onions. Something else showed up at the table and was told that someone had "failed" to change the menu and sorry. They did after a few minutes bring over the onions. Chicken parmigian was a two piece portion with one piece overdone and the other perfect. Deserae our server was pleasant and did a nice job of taken care of someone elses mistake.
