Diner Reviews
  • "We stopped for a Sunday breakfast and found the food to be quite excellent however the ambiance was closer to eating at an airport restaurant then it was eating at a fine dining restaurant."

  • "Food was good but nothing spectacular. Need to hire a pastry chef there were no dessert offerings. Service was excellent and the staff was very friendly."

  • "was ok for last minute reservation.... just an extended breakfast at the hilton... would have like more choices for lunch part of brunch"

  • "The Easter brunch was very disappointing. Not a lot of choices for people with gluten allergies. The salmon was bland. It was overall not a good experience."

  • "The food was very good and reasonably priced. It was a nice quiet resturant with decent service and wine list."

  • "Dec. 2013, dinner at Roux was a disappointment. First, poor timing: Shortly after the delivery of our cheese board and wine, the soup was delivered, abruptly ending what we intended to be the leisurely enjoyment of our appetizer and wine. Then came the entrees soon after the finish of our soups, with the half-full cheese board still sitting there, taking up space on the table and waiting for us to finish it, which we never did. Second, entree quality/presentation: The filet ordered medium was tender, but was medium-well and was placed on not-firm mashed potatoes. so pressing on the steak to cut it oozed the potatoes out sideways and made the steak slide. Not pretty. Grilled asparagus stalks were too thick. Salmon was cooked as requested.."

  • "We had Christmas dinner here because of a problem with our prior reservation. There were 4 options available in Open Table. We have dined in Hilton restaurants before and were always pleased. This looked like a Morrisons Cafeteria. No ambience at all. A lot of people were in sweatshirts and jeans which was mood altering for us. They only had a buffet which we generally do not do, but had little control. The list of food was nice so we dug in. The chicken Marsala was dry and had little to no sauce. The green (spinach??) fettucini was tasteless. The mixed veggies were cold. The bread was hard. The chocolate peanut butter dessert was awful. The only thing good was the Cesar salad. This was a total disappointment for Christmas dinner."

  • "Nice find. Ginger our server was terrific, friendly and helpful. My husband had the ahi tuna burger, cooked perfectly and delicious. I had the crab cakes. Crab cakes are always a risk when not near the coast but these were great. Very little breading and served over a corn and sweet potato mix."

  • "This is a hotel restaurant (in the Hilton at Biltmore Park), and for that reason I was skeptical. Was I ever surprised! The food was outstanding, and the service was great. I'll definitely go back."

  • "Visiting family in the area, we chose Roux for Thanksgiving dinner because of its buffet menu and reasonable fixed price. We were not disappointed. Staff were attentive, friendly, and responsive. The dining area is in the front lobby of the hotel and is not sectioned off to define it as a separate space, which seemed a bit odd at first. However, we soon adapted and felt ok in the space. The menu offered many choices, with local and regional touches, some unique. All dishes were very tasty, and several drew us back for seconds, though some in our party thought the food was overly salty. Desserts were a minor disappointment. However, the courses that preceded dessert far outshone the relative ordinariness of the finale. It was a good meal."

  • "I was a bit mislead by a review in Blue Ridge magazine. Long drive from Asheville. Food was average, but restaurant was in an open lobby of the Hotel. There were only two other people dining ( Saturday night ). Had three different servers, because they kept leaving " to deliver Room Service ". Passed up several great Asheville restaurants to eat at a location that could have been in an airport. Probably my fault for not doing more research."

  • "Items we wanted we're not available - they "ran out last night" -we were advised of this only after ordering wine.We did not stay, went across the street to another restaurant."

  • "Good food and decent value. The menu is quite limited though and lacking in imagination - probably because hotel guests might just want plain food cheap. The room was nearly empty and the waiter preoccupied with something. It's a good neighborhood spot, but don't go out of your way."

  • "We dined at Roux for the first time Thursday evening. From beginning to end it was a wonderful dining experience. Very good food, atmosphere and service. I hope more locals will consider Roux as a dining destination."

  • "We were there on a Monday evening so we actually had the place to ourselves and felt very special with the very attentive, pleasant service. The food was well prepared and seasoned just right - not adventurous, but attractive and tasty. The dining room was sophisticated yet comfortable. Our server was outstanding."

  • "I enjoy dining at the Roux because of the small, quiet setting. The omelet was delicious, and the service was impeccable. I am looking forward to trying a dinner meal there! I enjoyed lunch there several months ago!"

  • "We were hesitant to make reservations in a hotel restaurant. However, the Hilton restaurant Roux was an excellent choice. I enjoyed a quiet birthday dinner with the special one in my life. Loved the vegetarian option bbq tofu. The food and service will certainly make us return."

  • "Extremely quiet because we had to have an early dinner and there was no one else in the restaurant. By the time we left there was only one other table. Food was "okay". A little pricey for what it is, but it's a hotel restaurant and a Hilton. Should have expected that. With so many other choices in Biltmore Park I would suggest going out the door to one of the more vibrant restaurant scene instead of opting to stay in the hotel. Our friends had just arrived in Asheville and staying at the hotel and they wanted a quiet night so that is what they got. Service is excellent as we were the only people in the restaurant. The bread that was complimentary was delicious."

  • "We were extremely happy with the dinner offerings at this moderately priced restaurant. They were accompanied by some interesting cocktail choices. It's location off a hotel lobby and near the hotel bar which was quite noisy the night we were there pretty much limits the ambience opportunities. We would definitely consider returning."

  • "Overall the experience was good but there seemed to be some confusion about how to offer service to a large table of Easter brunch goers paying $25 each. Our drink order was taken but never delivered. Water glasses were on the table but never filled. When we finally did get our drinks we asked for cream for coffee and was told it was on a table near us. Not what I expect for that price. We were mixed in the lobby of the hotel, which felt inappropriate for the price and the occasion. It also seemed liked the server hadn't been trained on how to work this particular event. But despite the awkward and forgetful service the food was very good. We probably won't book there again, however, because I like a little more attention for brunch."

  • "We went to check out Sunday Brunch and had to ask for the Brunch menu after being seated - we received the Breakfast menu even though we had reservations. Our server brought water and coffee but didn't pour or make sure everyone at the table had some. She was chatty but not particularly effective. The food was generally adequate for brunch, although the muffins in the benedicts were almost impossible to cut through and the portabello mushrooms were charred."

  • "Enjoyed everything about our experience at Roux...food was delicious (loved that the cheese on our appetizer was locally sourced), service was excellent and friendly and the atmosphere was elegant. Wonderful place for a special occasion."

  • "Roux is part of the open lobby/bar/entrance in this Hilton. Our hostess, Jennifer, doubled as our waitress. From the time we entered until we left she was very attentive, pleasant, and into her customers. Mushroom soup is usually tasteless, but my wife said the mushroom soup here was the best anywhere, and we've been almost everywhere. Biltmore Square has another winner."

  • "Thanksgiving dinner. Would not suggest this location for Thanksgiving dinner. The meal was in a buffet format. For being such a recommended spot and the price tag being $30 per person the food quality was not there. Food that should have been warm (Turkey, Ham, Stuffing, potatoes, gravy, and Bisque)were all served cool to cold. This meant if you were a white meat lover you have cold and dry meat. Dessert was limited to 3 items (pecan pie, pumkin pie, and bread pudding)."

  • "My wife and I spent the Thanksgiving weekend in Asheville. We visited the Biltmore House on Wednesday evening and spent Thanksgiving day walking around the city. The Roux is a lobby restaurant at the Asheville Hilton. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving spread with very good variations on traditional dishes. The food was excellent, service was good and atmosphere was a little noisy, but what we expected. All in all is was a great holiday weekend."

  • "Fantastic restaurant. We had been one time before for dinner before making Thanksgiving reservations. The buffet at Thanksgiving was incredible. Everything was absolutely wonderful. We can't say enough good things about this restaurant, the chef, the cooking staff, the wait staff, hostesses, etc. Everything was perfect. We will be back for more than just Thanksgiving."
