Route 6 RestaurantMy first time what a great mealFrom our server Mark to the quality of the food everything was great. What a great meal.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBeat Happy Hour in TownHappy hour is awesome. Best oysters ever. Terrific clam chowder. Waitstaff efficient and friendly.
Great location. Parking he can be had in the neighborhood. Wine list is adequate.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. LovedFood was excellent. Loved the atmosphere. Staff very attentive. Food came out a little too quickly-would have liked it spaced out a little more.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWow - twice in a week! Now we can confirm that it's not only excellent but consistently so after another dozen delicious oysters and some cherrystones, fresh and perfectly shucked. The spaghetti with clams was perfectly al dente and a true delight, and my wife's Greek salad was excellent. The prosecco is a bit pricey, as is the muscadet - and these are, for us at least, the wines of choice (on Route 6's list, anyway) with clams and oysters. But the beverage list has something for everyone, with some well priced seafood-friendly wines like a nice albarino. It's our new favorite raw bar - nice place with easy parking, great food, space around the tables and lively but quiet enough to hear your companion. Simple food done well - it's what's for dinner!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable eveningFood was good, priced appropriately and management was visible ..6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA little patienceThe food is always good. The wait staff well informed but overwhelmed by very big party. We had to wait a while longer but I think thats expected on a saturday night at prime dining time.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat spot...Really nice wood fired seafood entrees... very extensive raw bar but did not have anything from it this time. The sides were inventive and really tasty like curried heirloom carrots and grilled corn on the cob. Had the wood fire rock fish which was excellent. Everyone at the table was satisfied. Bread pudding with chocolate topped with banana ice cream was the perfect ending!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat fresh seafoodNot the best location..but certainly the best seafood option in Philadelphia.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMStill life: Seafood with noiseFood was delicious. The prices looked reasonable, but the portions were small. That's what you get from restaurateurs who trade on their own personal style -- not that this particular owner was in evidence. We once bought a Subaru in this building, so we enjoyed the brilliant redesign.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMRoute 6 for a Birthday dinnerMy wife and two of our friends took me out for my birthday. I could have been more pleased with the choice. It is not a high class dining room but a wonderful, down home, "come as you are" restaurant with fantastic food. It features selections similar to what one would experience in New England seafood restaurants. I plan to return.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat clamsThis is our third time at Route 6 and it never disappoints. The oysters were great and the cherrystone clams were the best I've had:large, briny, excellent. Our waiter was so accomodating and brought 2 desserts as a suprise for a birthday and retirement celebration at our table. We will return.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOVERCOOKED SHRIMP/SMALL PORTIONSI was disappointed in the portions of seafood. I got 6 shrimp and they were overcooked for my entree. the soups were fantastic. I would be embarrassed t bring guests and have them get a large plate with 6 shrimp, two pieces of broccoli. My husband had the halibut which was well cooked and excellent but looked ridiculous on the large plate with two small portions of vegetables.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMwinnerWe celebrated a birthday and chose Route 6 because a tv morning show anchor raved about the crab deviled eggs. They were fantastic and we enjoyed several other items. The desserts are excellent as we. We felt relaxed and the server was very knowledgeable and seemingly honest.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!Went to Rout 6 with my boyfriend for his birthday. Fantastic attentive service, food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLike the beachOnly thing missing was the sound of the ocean. I really enjoyed the oysters - what a selection! Very nice servers and great atmosphere. The halibut special was excellent, specialty cocktails were delicious.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMa raw bar from my childhood in AC!I grew up eating cherrystones and blue points with my father in the raw bars on Albany Avenue Boulevard in my native Atlantic City (yes, I'm THAT old). Route 6 made me feel like a happy, satisfied kid again - delicious and perfectly shucked seafood, pleasant & excellent waitstaff who let us enjoy a leisurely meal despite a busy dinner hour. With huge choice and seasonal goodies like great soft shell crabs, it's paradise for people like us. 12 different oysters!! Best this time around were East Beach Blonds (big meaty flavor) and Blue Points ("the" east coast oyster - tastes & smells like a misty morning on the AC beach). Route 6 is our new favorite raw bar & seafood place.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly RecommendedWe returned to Route 6 for the second time and had another excellent meal. We enjoy the casual atmosphere. The food is delicious, and the noise level allows comfortable conversation. My husband can't get enough lobster roll, and all 3 women who ordered the salmon were extremely happy.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMTotally AmazingOur dinner was fabulous, the service attentive and food was decilcious. This is now our favorite place for fresh and terrific seafood.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA North Philly gemWine list good, not great and a bit pricey but you are in the big city so deal. Great seafood, scallops, halibut, salmon tartar to die for.
2 rounds of drinks, apps, entrees, shared 2 deserts, 5 adults ~$200. I understand they are new. Hope they last.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI love it!I met with a prospective employer who offered me a mid-mgmt. position! in July, I expect to assume this position; kudos to you for providing the greatest food and relaxed ambience for this informal meeting! Should I land this job, Route 6 will hold a special place as the start of it all!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrating an AnnivsersaryMy wife and I visited Route 6 on a recommendation. We were celebrating our 30th Anniversary. We had a great time....Sitting at the window "street watching" and having dinner. The food was great, the drinks were awesome, service was outstanding, and great Blues music playing (just noticeable) in the background. I recommend Route 6 for any occasion.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMJust GreatAbout six months ago, we dined at route 6 for the first time and we were disappointed. From the food to the service, everything seemed so bland and blase. Well, what a difference a few months make. This time, every single item was great. The clam chowder seemed thicker and more flavorful. My "10" on the clam chowder scale is Hog Island in S.F. and this comes awfully close. Our entrees were just as good, swordfish and salmon on cedar plank. Serious kudos to Route 6 for providing us with a really special experience. Thanks!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMpleasantly pleasedI was with 4 people and everyone really really enjoyed it.
My only reason for not giving it 4 stars is that I did not like my main dish the trout. I told the waiter it was not my favorite and he did nothing about it except give us free coffee.
If you are dieting there are not enough steamed choices. Otherwise its fun. The energy is good and the rest of my group loved it there5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingRoute 6 is by far the nicest seafood restaurant I have been to since Bookbinders, the seafood is fresh and great tasting. The service was outstanding as well, our server David took very good care of our group of five. I would highly recommend Route 6 to everyone.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent! IThe food was excellent! I had the scallops and my friend had the seafood stew. The cocktails were also very good as well!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGet your food fix @ Route 6Upon entering the double doors you'll find the space open and airy, yet cozy. The wait-staff was very friendly and attentive. If I were to recommend a particular item(s) from the varied menu, it would be the Striped Bass with rosemary marbled potatoes, and grilled asparagas. Utterly delectable!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodDefinitely an upscale place to grab some delicious seafood. Service was on point, as most Steven Starr places are, and very knowledgeable about the menu.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMServiceThe waiter was friendly and knowledgable. I felt uncomfortable when the waiter was standing at the table while we were getting our money together for the bill.We had to ask him to give us a minute. Overall the service was good.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways HappyThis was my second time visiting Route 6 for Sunday Brunch. I visit frequently for happy hour. All of my experiences have been great here. The host staff, wait staff, and managers are all very nice people. They always make you feel welcome at Route 6. I would highly recommend visiting!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWarmEverything was good, except for the wine was warm and I had to ask for ice.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways GreatWe have consistently had good food and service and Route 6 and highly recommend it. We have made last minute Open Table reservations on week nights, and these have extra special. Because they are not over-run with diners, the noise level is manageable. Regardless of how busy it is, Route 6 servers are always great. Try the lobster role and crab deviled eggs. They are the best.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm stuck in a good rut at Route 6I'm been to Route 6 at least a dozen times and I always order the same thing and it's a shame because there are so many other great apps and entrees. I'm a raw bar nut so I always start with a dozen clams or oysters and I just can't pass up the Lobster Roll for my entree.
I did it again on Wednesday evening.
Maybe next time.
Ralph5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMy family went here as a bigMy family went here as a big group, for a special occasion...it has a very energetic, fun vibe. We were in a rush and had special requests on top of it. The staff could not have been more professional, friendly and supportive. And the food was just excellent!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to lingersuper brunch. The waiter was excellent, Mark. We had a great time. It was very nice for the pair of little twins across the room, who were provided the cutest wrap around bibs. Nice time.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great EscapeWhen you walk into Route 6 you are transported to a beach town having great seafood. You forget you are in Philadelphia yet alone on North Broad. Route 6 is a great escape! We went with our kids and had a blast. Everything was great, the raw bar, lobster roll, fish sandwich, everything!!!!! We can't wait to go back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectionReserved a table for four for my Sister's Birthday, Everything was terrific from the moment we entered the restaurant to when we left. Cherrystone clams from the raw bar were fantastic. Our salads and soups surprised everyone. All entrees were tasty and prepared to perfection.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was good, althoughThe food was good, although the portions were small. Atmosphere was great and having valet was a plus. The service was just okay, I felt our waitress had too many tables on a busy Saturday night.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood LocationThis was a good place to go for appetizers the entrees aren't that great. Need more varieties on the menu but overall a nice place to dine at5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMCasual center cityGreat place if you are in the mood for terrific seafood and want to be a little casual. The Martinis, service and food are great. I wish the bar area was a bit larger.
I will return to sample more things on the menu.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was one of the nicestThis was one of the nicest restaurants I have been in a really long time. Certainly one of my favorite Steven Starr restaurants to date. The asthetics were beautiful! The food was fantastic! The service was top notch! I really cant give this place enough stars.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great, staff wasFood was great, staff was great. Another Starr gem. Downside they should not charge $12 for valet. Bad area, and they are doing fine on the food and drinks to club you on valet.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent seafood in PhillyThe food was excellent and the decor was well done. Prices felt fair and although it was prime time on a Saturday night, the staff was on top of everything. The main room was a bit loud but nothing that disturbed our meal. There is another room which seemed more quiet. The only other criticism, which is no fault of the restaurant, would be that some people had brought young children which felt a bit inappropriate. I would highly recommend Route 6 and look forward to going there again.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLobster Roll is all I can say!!Everything we ate was amazing!1 I love, love, love the lobster roll!!!! Great atomosphere.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great place for freshWhat a great place for fresh seafood. The friend lobster tails were amazing. Great service and great looking place in general4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA "go-to" seafood restaurantA "go-to" seafood restaurant for me. Great ambiance and located in the trendy Fairmount area.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGo here!Great place all around. Service was impeccable. Great place for a date.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAt our table of 4 we wereAt our table of 4 we were celebrating 2 birthdays. We loved their take on oyster crackers and horseradish. So much better than the traditional crumbly ones I grew up eating. We shared an order of calamari, just so-so. Too much breading and very meh! I got the wreckfish with broccoli and corn. Delicious! My husband got the salmon with rice and broccoli, also delicious. My brother got the special halibut which he thoroughly enjoyed. My sister-in-law got crab cakes just bursting with jumbo lump crabmeat. We loved how you could pick the sides to go with your meal. For dessert we shared 2 apple pies which were very good. Dessert menu didn't have anything else we liked.Great atmosphere. Crowded but had no trouble talking at our table.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food-small portionsVery good fish and shellfish but we were disappointed by the small portions. The chocolate bread pudding is a must if you go, but there are other seafood houses more reasonably priced.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved the food here, extremelyI loved the food here, extremely fresh and seasoned well. Service was great.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom The comvience & priceFrom The comvience & price of the valet, To the seating at our table everything was great4/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
