Diner Reviews
  • "This is what I call a gem! You could never tell by walking by , and I have being doing just that for a long time since I regularly go to eat at Katana right next door. As usually my Sushi place had a long wait time and so we decided this time we didn't want to wait and to check out Rouge. We were seated in a magical garden, it literarily transported us out of Miami, somewhere in the Mediterranean . Just beautiful! I have to admit that it is the first time I was as much taken by surprise, I would of never imagine it. We ordered several items to share and all tasted amazing. The owner served us thru the entire dinner which was different but it made it for a very friendly experience. I will definitely be coming back."

  • "I have one regret and that it is not to have discover this gem earlier. It is the most refreshing experience I had in Miami. From the setting to the music, from the extraordinary food to the friendly service, there is nothing missing for a perfect experience. I highly recommend it."

  • "This is the newest incarnation of a French bistro which the owner keeps bringing back. This time, he brought it back with a garden in the rear which he built by hand. the garden gets a 10 as it absolutely transforms the former parking space and makes the meal that much more enjoyable. The fireplace should be cool during chilly evenings. The French Onion Soup is a bit different than the ones I have had in the past, including in France. A bit too much fennel(?) for my taste. The Escargot Souffle was also interesting but I prefer the old school traditional way of serving it. The Steak Frites, however, was a solid choice as was the Black Truffle Risotto. Not enough food for me but tasty nonetheless."

  • "The best way I could describe rouge would be upscale but yet casual. Everything is the details and details you can find everywhere if you just paid attention. The food is a mixture of French and Moroccan cuisine and that was just fine by me since both are on the top of the list when it comes to eating. Dishes were prepared and presented to perfection and the flavones were on point. We were lucky enough to sit out in the garden but will say no more , you must go and check it out, telling would be like ruining your movie experience by telling you how it ends."

  • "Dining at rouge reminded me of the times spend living in Europe (many moons ago) I was living in Paris and would go to the south of France every summer. Well rouge transported me back ! Although the inside reminded me of a Parisian cafe I used to go to all the time, the outside transported back any where in the Mediterranean riviera. You would never believe you are in Miami once seated in the garden. It is a refreshing find in the middle of the same old same old Miami. The food is outstanding and the service friendly. You could tell the owners are passionate about giving their diners a unique experience. I m happy I found Rouge and highly recommend it."

  • "Although the initial impression didn't excite, the outdoor patio was very nice. The food was excellent and the owner was a masterful waiter, keeping the group very entertained the entire meal. The great food just kept coming!"

  • "I had to laugh as I walked into the Venue, the place was empty. I joked to the Amazingly Beautiful Russian Attendent "Can you fit us in' as she asked it we had a reservation. Then, they took us to the back and a Wonder uponed upon us. It is just so Relaxing, Flowers, trees, perfect lighting, tiny tables...I felt transported. But wait..The Food.. OMG you could say I had Lamb and fava beans and she fish, but that would be like calling the Sistine Chapel 'A Painting' Lets just say this is my #1 Date Spot..."

  • "Good Food, a bit over-priced, but the nice full wine pour makes up for it. I loved the fish soup and the lamb tagine and would return expressly for those dishes. We were not able to make use of the garden during this very, rainy night. We look forward to returning to experience that pleasure"

  • "Just by looking the neighborhood and the facade outside, you would never guess the amazing place Rouge is inside. Wonderful food, Very cozy and romantic. If available, ask to be seated in the backyard patio. The decor, ambiance and its play list will make you forget you are in Miami Beach and make you think you are in a french cafe. My only suggestion: I wish they would serve martinis as well."

  • "As usual this place doesn't stop to amaze me! The foie gras was probably the best I ever had follow by their black truffle risotto ( how can you go wrong ?). I can't stop recommending this place to my friends. To top it off the probably have the friendliest service on the beach."

  • "One of the things I like about this place is that they constantly keep changing the menu, It forces me to try new things and I really like that . Most places I go to carry the same menu and I end up ordering the same thing. Having dinner in the garden really transports me to the south if France . Keep Up the good work! Thank you"

  • "Rouge is a breath of fresh air compared to all the tourist trap south beach has to offer. I m glad we decide to give it a try. The food was great! The atmosphere cosy, I wish we had be able to see out in the garden. Next time. Anyone looking for something different should pay rouge a visit ."

  • "The outside simple, rustic garden setting was actually quite nice. The food was wanting. Being charitable, it was mediocre. We had the chicken tagine and the lamb tagine and were quite disappointed in both. The couscous was dreadful."

  • "The ambience is just beautiful for their outside seating, perfect for a special occasion. Entrees were delicious...along with enjoying a nice bottle of champagne and Peroni! Perfect evening!!! Parking is the only downfall, but I called to let them know and they told us where there was a location that we could park in and there was. Very happy!"

  • "The food was very good but the waiter was rude and sarcastic. The restaurant was empty which surprised our group because the food was good. It was only when someone in our party went to the washroom did we find the beautiful outdoor patio light up and filled with people. When asked why we weren't seated in the obviously popular and pretty outdoor patio area the manager rudely replied "You didn't ask." The food may be good but the who needs to pay for rude, sarcastic and snarky."

  • "A bit hard to find, located on the south side of 71st. Street. Little curbside parking but their is a lot in back with meters. The food was quite tasty, service good. My wifes Duck needed to be cooked a little bit longer, a strip along one side should have been removed by the cook before being served. Prices are a bit on the high side, food quality was high. Interesting silent film shown on a big screen in the back of the restaurant."

  • "I had the opportunity to dine here about a month ago and the food was excellent and the service was fairly good. I took some guests from out of town there a few days ago and after our order was take, the service became nonexistent. Our food was delivered by a busboy and we never saw a waiter again. We were never asked if we wanted anything else else, we poured our own wine and we finally had to hunt down the busboy for our check. We sat outside in the garden, so perhaps that had something to do with the service, but that is unacceptable. After paying we left without a word from any of the staff. It is a shame as the food was very tasty. Portions are small however."

  • "My Wife and I picked Rouge for our Valentine's dinner - 2014. We are from out-of-town, but the restaurant was easy to find, the ambience was fantastic, and the food was even better. Absolutely delightful!"

  • "My wife and I were a little hesitant when we saw the street view, but once we saw the outdoor courtyard, we knew we were in the right place. The menu was limited, but had several interesting choices. The atmosphere was intimate, and the our waitress was very attentive and genuine. We will be back in Miami in March and are planning to bring a group of friends to Rouge when we return."

  • "My wife and I went there to have lunch and celebrate our aniversary last week and we were more than impressed by the food, the service, and the ambiance. Do not be misled by the unassuming outside of the front of the restaurant. We tried the branzino and the risotto and they were top notch. We had dessert and coffee in the garden and enjoyed the relaxed set up. We are coming back soon!"

  • "Food was absolutely excellent but the service was too slow. I actually had to go up to the bar to get our check because the waitress ignored us."

  • "At the outset, we were a little reticent to go into the restaurant, as we thought it was only a bar from looking in from outside. But alas, we were happy we ventured in. For all future guest...disregard the outward appearance, and GO in. You will be very happy you did. Ask them for a seat outside in the garden setting, and bask in the beauty of the setting, and delight in the taste of the good food provided for you. The service, was exceptional, and everyone was friendly and a pure delight to be around. The outside restaurant is very picturesque, very romantic, it is truly a remarkably treasure hidden away on 71st street..."

  • "I came here over the weekend for a romantic birthday dinner- the ambience was great- low set lights, rich browns and earth tones with eclectic decor surrounded us inside. We were going to eat outside but it was just a tad bit too humid for us- indoors was perfect. Even though we had arrived late we were welcomed and well attended. The best recommendation was the Moroccan Spiced Sea Bass- unbelievable taste- the fish was perfectly cooked- flaky, moist, absolutely satisfying. The owner came to our table and talked to us, realizing we made the reservation and it was for a birthday. We topped the evening with Creme Brulee and espresso- I will definitely return- and I want to enjoy the patio too! Thank you!"

  • "The fish soup was delicious, well-spiced, and tasty. I was expecting peices of fish and lobster though. The lamb has been great both times I've eaten it. The outdoor ambiance is perfect and the tables are well seperated to feel as though one has space. I truly enjoyed the service, ambiance, and food!"

  • "The indoor portion of the restaurant is a nice recreation of a Paris bistro, but the real gem is the garden. Be sure to get a table there if the weather is nice. The service was very attentive, the food excellent, and the recorded music (Jazz from Satchmo, Ella, et al.) was perfectly suited to compliment the experience. Don't let the neighborhood discourage you: this is a gem worth seeking out far from the awful sameness of South Beach."
