And we will be back! Outstanding in every respect. The place is open, modern, spacious and nicely designed. The food is great and the portions are quite generous. The service was very attentive and well paced. Everything came out right on schedule and the staff were always right there to address any need that arose. The location is great and the neighborhood is quite active. The menu is quite extensive and has everything you could possibly want. All in all a very satisfying experience.

This was my first trip to the new location in San Mateo. Since we went there late on a weeknight, there were very few other diners; so hard to say what the experience is like during peak hours. However, I can say that the staff was very patient as my teenage sons tried to decide what to eat and very attentive in keeping are glasses filled. I also like the ambience inside, but chose to eat outside since the weather was warm. The only drawback to eating outside was the close proximity noise from busy street traffic and occassional smoker walking by. Food was good and did not disappoint but I did miss the quaint feel of the Burlingame location. Would still recommend although I think prices seemed to be a bit steeper.

I hadn't been here in awhile and I was so excited that I got to go. I love the food here. It never ceases to amaze me. The lamb in the gosht biriyani was amazing. Very tender. The naan and garlic naan were both superb. My mom was with me and I believe she had a prawn dish of some sort. She loved it. The service is great and the food is worth the money. I always take home the leftovers because they taste amazing the next day (warm or cold).

This is the new location....moved from Burlingame. We have been Roti fans for years. Everything is fresh and absolutely delicious. The garlic naan is always excellent. Owner is always there to greet you. Everyone we have ever taken there has loved it. You cannot go wrong. After you have been to Roti, other places will pale in comparison.

The menu has a nice variety of food to fit just about every taste from vegan to carnivore. We came in mid afternoon so it was not busy. The service was quick and friendly. We had a sampling of about 8 or 9 menu items we shared among 5 people. With the exception of the crab cakes, everything was excellent. If you are looking for a quality meal and need to satisfy a number of different tastes this is the place to go.

We had eaten at the old Roti in Burlingame and thoroughly enjoyed it. So this was our first foray out to San Mateo. The service was first class and the choice very good but the Makhni is obviously made with a tinned tomato soup base that it was disappointing. The restaurant was almost empty so the atmosphere was lacking and frankly it doesn't have the charm of the last location. We maay have just caught things on a bad night and so will return but will be expecting better. For one thing if the chicken makhni tastes again of Campbell's it will be our last attempt!

This place never truly disappoints. This past Saturday was amazing. Loved the food (gosht biriyani, vegetable samosas, garlic and basil naan, regular naan, and more) and loved the atmosphere. The service was great as well. I highly recommend this place to everyone. It can be a little on the pricey side, but it's worth it.

I love Roti. It never ceases to amaze me. I took my friend who was home from grad school here on Saturday night. I got my usual plain naan, margarita (which they made frozen/blended for me), and gosht biriyani (all of which was amazing). My friend had chicken korma (which she loved) and then we both decided to splurge and get vegetable samosas (yum) and garlic and basil naan (delicious!) The garlic and basil naan was some of the best garlic naan I've ever had. The food was great, the atmosphere was nice, and the service was spectacular.

We really love the food at Roti and the new location in San Mateo. When the restaurant first opened in this location, there were significant challenges with the service. I am happy that we didn't just give up, but kept going to Roti and now find the service as wonderful as their food. It is now a regular spot for us as the ambiance and great food provide for a fabulous evening.

I love Roti. I get take out from here on a regular basis and I eat in person at least once per month. I went this past Saturday and our waiter was new (it was his first day). The service was pretty bad (they disappeared, took forever, etc.), but I completely understand that it was the waiter's first day at Roti, and the food and excellent drinks made up for it. I love the gosht biriyani and nan. It's amazing. I think the service this past Saturday was a fluke as it's usually pretty decent.

We really wanted to like this restaurant as it's right in our neighborhood. Sadly, it disappoints in many ways. First, the food. Rather bland, lacking authentic and unique flavors. They seem to have made a couple of sauces in the kitchen and throw different protein or vegetables in at the last minute. And with the prices they charge for the small portions (a number of diners have complained about this), you'd expect a fine dining experience, and it is anything but. Atmosphere is dreary. They haven't done a thing to change the place from the previous restaurant. And finally the noise from the kitchen. If you like to hear the sound of dishes being washed while you're eating, this is the place to go.

Indian cuisine is a unique experience for us. Out of the four diners, only one person had eaten Indian food more than once before. Both the owner and server were very helpful as we made menu choices. Everyone was pleased with his/her choice, and it was a very nice evening. We will definitely go back!

We have dined at Roti twice since it relocated to San Mateo. The food is good but the portions too expensive for their size. Add on the rice and bread, both of which are a la carte, and the price is high for what you get. Service is good, but there are many restaurants in the area that provide a better ambience and offer a more satisfying meal. Unless you really crave Indian food, I wouldn't recommend the new Roti.

Food was still terrific at the new Roti location - this was our first visit. since the relo from Burlingame. Atmosphere needs some work. The wide open space and glass storefront forced small space heaters to be placed throughout the restaurant. It needs more dividers between tables and some atmospheric touches. Prices seem to have increased and there is no more complimentary cracker bread and dip - everything needs to be ordered from the menu. With time and some minor changes, this place will be right back on track.

Roti in San Mateo is getting it's legs and clearly improving! Food and service were really good. Reservaation honored, host did a good job and food was delicious and came in a timely honor. At least on the Saturday evening we were there the restaurant was well staffed with friendly and knowledgeable folks. Restaurant feels sort of big without enough decor to interrupt the large space into more cozy sections. The recent night we had dinner there the heat was not working and a few scattered space heaters on the low setting were not adequate to warm the large space. On a pouring cold weekend night buying 5 more heaters to deal with what I am hoping was just an emergency seems in order.

Glad to see Roti found a new home in a great location with larger seating; food was delicious as always. We think it's the best Indian restaurant in the area. Sunil greeted us like old friends which was charming. My favorite dish was not listed on the menu but he willing agreed to make it for me. That's customer service! They have an updated wine list and full bar. We only missed the Indian crackers and dips that were previously offered after you sat down.

Great, authentic, reasonably priced Indian food in a dowtown location. Staff very friendly, attentive and helpful. Just wish I could have tried more things on the menu. One tip, though, if the waitstaff asks if you like garlic, the answer is no, unless you want to smell and taste garlic for 3 days! I found them very appropriate on the spice level, though, which has not been my experience at previous Indian restaurants where your mouth can be on fire to the point where you cannot taste the food.

We went because of very positive reviews on Check Please Bay Area. We arrived early for our 7:00pm reservation on a Tuesday and were greeted by the owner. We told him it was our first visit and that we came because of CPBA reviews. We were seated immediately. A busboy asked if we wanted something to drink, we ordered a bottle of wine, we wait, we wait, a waiter arrived and asked if we wanted something to drink, we said we'd ordered a bottle of wine, we wait, the owner returns to tell us the wine we ordered isn't available and suggests something else, fine, we wait, finally the wine arrives and we start the whole "order, wait, have someone check on us, wait, wait" routine again. The food was average but the service was inexcusable!

Dal Makhani (vegetarian curry) hit the spot at a price that is nice. Garlic and Basil Naan was par for the course. And if you love calamari, the batter flavor is very similar to taste of vada (Indian doughnut). The calamari bits are cooked properly, not too chewy. Top shelf margarita is decent. Makes me happy: - Abundant parking and easy to find across from Walgreens. - Great for business lunch or dinner. Modern bistro decor, at a wallet friendly price and wide selection. Room for improvement: - Our server needed more training. We got someone obviously new to serving. More like an uncomfortable encounter than a brief friendly server-diner experience. - Flavor is good, but not great. Indian food should be authentic and packed with flavor.

Roti was one of my favorited restaurants. Unfortunately our dining experience will be our last and I have unfavorited Roti. We've probably visited Roti half a dozen times, and have always enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance because the prices were reasonable. Unfortunately Roti has bumped up their prices all over the menu and our dinner came to $74 for two people and not much food. Chicken Tikki Masala was $18, Prawns Palak $23, appetizer sampler $16, and with chai teas & naan that was $74. No drinks! The food was wonderful except the appetizer sampler, it was a bit dry and not much of a sampler with many choices. We will not return, and that's rather sad. We drove from SSF to visit Roti. Good luck.

Roti was such a disappointing experience. Having been there several times and thoroughly enjoying the meals, this time I was put off by the lack of ventilation in the restaurant, as well as the tasteless food. The special vegetable plate, the blue lake beans were in fact frozen beans and tasted awful. The chicken dish was extremely dull and the lamb was actually gray. Not a pleasant experience at all. And it was expensive too- and for no good reason.
