  • "This is a classic, old-fashioned (in a good way) neighborhood Italian restaurant, with good food and great service. And they have a wine list that includes good, reasonably-priced choices."

  • "Warm and welcoming, from the moment we walked through the door, Rossini's exactly what we needed after a long, rainy trip into New York. Food was superb, and they were willing to make changes or make an off-menu meal salad. Definitely recommend!"

  • "Many waiters were around, and each one was so pushy trying to get more orders. They were so hasty to clear the plates, sometimes without paying attention that food was still there. It was amazing that the tip amount was already fixed and written down on the cheque. But food was good."

  • "Great food, service and ambience and the opera singers were unbelievable"

  • "I'd always wanted to try Rossini's for dinner and Restaurant Week was a motivating way to finally give it a try. It's ambiance is classy and from an earlier era, almost expected to see the Rat Pack walk in. Service was well paced ... never rushed ... and food delicious. A wonderful dining experience. We'll be back!"

  • "The meal was outstanding, and Bogie, our waiter was excellent! Staff was very friendly and accomodating."

  • "As you walk in to the bar area you may think Rossini's is a small dark restaurant. As you are greeted by Ray and brought to the open, well lit back of the establishment. Plenty of room for big groups. The wait staff is as friendly and fun as the pasta dishes are fresh and delicious."

  • "I have been here many times. The wait staff is excellent. They do not rush you. The food is very good pricey but worth it. This last visit was the first time I had a disappointment. My fried calamari was not good. Over cooked. The rest of the meal was presented well and tasted delicious."

  • "My boyfriend and I had a great dinning experience, very attentive staff, the pasta dishes and salmon were very good. Nice wine too. Will definitely go back."

  • "5 members of my office had a luncheon there on July 31st. It was restaurant week and most of us ordered from the special menu for that week. The service was wonderful and the food was its usual outstanding self. There was not a hint of us ordering from the restaurant week menu as being below their normal clientele and we were treated with the upmost respect and friendliness. The food arrived promptly and served perfectly. The appetizer specials, mussels in a seafood broth, fried clamari and eggplant with cheeses were very good. The veal, pasta, and salmon entrees were outstanding."

  • "Rossini’s is a great “old school” Italian restaurant with wait staff in tuxes and plush décor and dim lighting. The wait staff is very attentive – I’ve never had my water glass filled so often. Everyone loved their entrees except one friend who got a chicken dish that looked like an anorexic quail. (One complaint out of five is still a great meal.) The calamari was done to perfection – tender, not greasy or over fried. The Vitello alla Rossini comes in a delicious mushroom sauce that is not too rich or thick. The rigatoni in pesto sauce was also excellent – a little heavy on the oil, but a very nice pesto. The mussels were also excellent - fresh and very plump. My only complaint is $14 for a house Merlot is a bit much."

  • "Great food, a classic Italian restaurant. Some great classics don't need to change with time."

  • "Nothing to write home about. Very pretty place - service a little spotty. The veal scallopini was CHEWY."

  • "I usually am not in the area of the restaurant so this was a new experience for me. From its friendly greetings, the amount of waiters working was mind boggling, to its delicious food, the dinner was one that i would like to repeat. The restaurant week choices for starters and mains were more than adequate but the desert options were limited."

  • "We have been here a few times and always really enjoy it. The service is great and friendly, food is delicious, great wine list and seating that is comfortable (not crammed together like you find in many NY restaurants)."

  • "Took 2 business associates for lunch, close to their office. All three of us were pleasantly surprised. Attentive staff, good lunch choices and the cannoli finished the meal. Will be back"

  • "From the maître d's warm welcome to the well-coordinated team of captains, waiters and staff, the service was superb, attentive without being intrusive. Excellent (if a little exclusively male). We had an equally superb dinner--vichyssoise soup, Blue Point oysters on half shell and salmone carpaccio followed by veal alla francese. The atmosphere was classic New York Italian restaurant. Dining as it used to be and should be still."

  • "This is an old school Italian feel, with white tablecloths and a live pianist. The food was good, not great and the service was also good. I wouldn't go out of my way to get here but it was handy to our hotel and was a pleasant experience."

  • "Great neighborhood Italian restaurant. Old school all the way from circa 70's attire - decoration and style. We dined on Italian classics Zuppa Di Pesce / gnocchi with bolognese and red snapper with champagne sauce. All fresh and delicious. A great time had by gf and her 15 yo daughter and myself."

  • "I picked this restaurant because of its participation in NYC Restaurant Week and its location off the beaten path. I must say I am very glad that I did. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed each dish, especially the clams. The service was top notch and we felt catered to without feeling as if the staff was hovering over us. The place is smaller than you would expect but the noise level is so low you barely notice any one else is there. I will definitely visit this restaurant again out side of Restaurant Week."

  • "Came here for a Friday night dinner during restaurant week. Service was really attentive and the food was solid for all of us who either ordered the prix fixe or the regular menu. Really loved the stuffed clams as an appetizer"

  • "The front is misleading as it looked like the restaurant was empty, so we were reluctant to go in...but the main part of the restaurant is in the back and was buzzing with activity. Service was wonderful, old New York; food was all delicious."

  • "The wait staff greeted us like old friends who've been coming to the restaurant for years. The helpings were very generous and we got a good tip on a bottle of wine. The pasta of the day was outstanding with small of chunks of lamb braised to a melt-in-your mouth consistency. All of our choices were delicious!"

  • "Great overall dining experience. The music was outstanding and it is wonderful to find a restaurant where one can enjoy good food and entertainment as well. Service staff was friendly and welcoming. My veal entree I thought was average; however, my friend said her pasta was amazing. I would definitely return to try other selections. I love the ambiance."

  • "In our opinion this is one of the best restaurants in NYC. The staff, the food and the service are all above expectations. This statement is based on our experience in some of the finest restaurants in the city. "

  • "Wow! Great food. Excellent friendly service. A piano player playing show toons and jazz. No rush. A leisurely dinner to remember. And after 7 PM you have a good chance of parking for free on the street. We'll be back soon."

  • "Although everyone was very friendly, the decor and food was very old style. Over seasoned and not really all the pretty to look at. Wine choices were above par and fairly priced. Downstairs is better to eat as it is less noisy, but the room was freezing to the point we had to ask them to turn down the AC. Service started off well, but dropped off as the tables filled up. They brought a very unappetizing plate of samples deserts to the table which really killed any desire for desert after looking at samples that were clearly sitting out for a while. "
