Diner Reviews
  • "We especially enjoyed the couple who sang opera and classic Broadway tunes."

  • "This neighborhood Italian restaurant has very good service, good food, and enchanting opera on Saturday night."

  • "have been here on a few business occasions for lunch but never with my wife for dinner; we were given a great corner banquette, had wonderful service from Wilson and the other tuxedoed-waiters; took their recommendations for food, and they even made an off-menu dish for my wife-- the whole meal was spectacular, and the surroundings couldn't be better... as i live right around the corner, was tempted not to write such a glowing review , but they deserve it!"

  • "We were greeted by the maitre d', and offered the opportunity to check our coats right away. We had a 7:15pm reservation and were immediately seated in a corner table away from the piano as requested. The service was good and not intrusive, the wine excellent and the food as well. Piano ambience was very nice and we were not so close that it interfered with conversation. We had been here once before, a few years ago, and now are reminded that we should come more often. It was relatively crowded for a Thursday night and I am glad we made a reservation."

  • "This was one of the best restaurants I have even eat in ever! Delicious, wonderful service. I felt like I was in Italy on vacation. Bravo!"

  • "Everything on the menu is great with a fantastic wine list and knowledgeable bartender. Minestrone is exceptional !"

  • "We usually love dining at Rossini's.....however, although it was pleasant to have live entertainment..the singers were 'belting' out songs in their 'operatic' voices that were so overpowering four of us could not have a conversation over dinner. Soft dinner music would have enhanced the evening. Saturday night is out for us at Rossini's! Choose a week night without the LOUD SiNGING is my suggestions"

  • "As always, the food is out of this world. Took a client for lunch. Food and service were impeccable."

  • "Tucked away, just east of the corner of Park and 38th, is one of the finest northern Italian restaurants in NY. The waitstaff was very attentive, even on a very busy (after 8:00 p.m.) night. Even though my reservation was made only 45 minutes prior to arrival, I was seated at at a banquette overlooking the main dining room; I felt more than comfortable as a single woman, even though most (but not all) were parties of 2, 4, or more. The meal was delicious, well-presented and I did not feel rushed. I ordered decaf at the end of the meal and a fresh pot was made just for me!"

  • "We have been coming to Rossinis they make you feel like you have arrived home at each visit! Food and service has always been top notch. Have had intamate dinners for 2 as well as my parents 50th anniversary here, and a Corporate function with over 75 people, In every case - excellent!"

  • "Rossini's give you a great experience. Me and my Girlfriend went there for Valentines day. We had the Manicotti and it was amazing. we also had their chicken and beef which was also fantastic. We finished with some ice cream. for a top end restaurant the pricing was reasonable. I spent about 150 dollars on the night."

  • "I needed to find a restaurant to accommodate a party of 5 on only 3 hours notice. I had never been to Rossini's but the menu looked good and the prices seemed reasonable. When I arrived, I was told that someone in the party had called to add two more people and we were accommodated with no problem and with apparent pleasure. The service was excellent and we never felt rushed. The live piano player was an added treat. The food was delicious and the portions large enough to satisfy a hungry crew. Every person in the party enjoyed their meal [pasta, chicken, fish, different appetizers and deserts] raved about Rossini's. And, they validate so the parking was only $10!"

  • "I have been going here for years when in NY. It is still one of the truly great restaurants for food and service!"

  • "The best part about the meal was the starter bread and butter and the bruchetta they served for service. All the plates after that was doused in SALT. It was very SALTY. Some of us ordered Pasta of the day, believing it would at least be homemade pasta (being it got four stars) but it didn't taste any better than something you would serve out of can to a kid coming home from school. Even the spumoni was a flop (the taste & presentation both). The saltiness of the food will not want me to go back. A Disappoined Let Down."

  • "We had an incredible time and fantastic meal. The staff was exceptional and the live music was very entertaining. I will definitely add this resturant to my list of "musts" next time I am in the city."

  • "Tucked away on a side street, the view from the outside does not prepare you for the graceful ambiance and size of the interior. You can tell the establishment has been part of NYC's past and will likely remain into the future. The interior is absolutely lovely, the service excellent and the food delicious. I had a yummy eggplant appetizer (a bit too salty for my taste) and salmon for the main course...perfectly prepared. For dessert, a cannoli, as good as any I could get in Little Italy. An overall delightful meal in a traditional, classy, Italian restaurant."

  • "We eat here often. The food and service are top notch. The piano playing in the background is a plus, for sure."

  • "Enjoyed the food, very good service and comfortable room. But I wish we'd been warned about the two (sort of) opera singers. Kind of annoying, and sometimes made conversation challenging."

  • "As always, Rossini's delivers! I requested a romantic table for two for a date night with my significant other and my wish was granted. The service was impeccable from the coat check to the bus boy. The food was amazing...which was nothing less than expected and the ambiance was traditional Italian. Rossini's is one of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan and I look forward to becoming a regular customer."

  • "Great food and service. Good location, close enough to Grand Central, Morgan Library. Great Restaurant Week value."

  • "We dined with a business group of 15; this can be a challenge. The service was outstanding, lots of variety in the menu and the specials were enjoyed by many. Great choice if you are seeking a good meal and experience in this part of town."

  • "Like a time machine -- room decor, waiters' clothing and ambiance are very traditional in the best sense. Service courtly, unobtrusive and efficient. Big menu, lots of choices, food very fresh and delicious. And the piano player was outstanding. We were there on a quiet Sunday night, it was serene and completely relaxed. Would go again next time we're in NYC."

  • "I was looking for a place to dine in Murray Hill during restaurant week. Rossini's was a wonderful find. It was a short walk from Grand Central and close to the Morgan. The menu choices, often quite limited during restaurant week, were surprisingly generous. Everything we ordered was delicious. Lovely atmosphere, too. A great experience."

  • "This is a traditional Italian restaurant serving excellent veal marsala, calamari and mussels that we ordered for lunch. The service was outstanding. If you have a leisurely lunch break, I highly recommend it."
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "If you are in Murray Hill in search of authentic Italian cuisine, this is the place to dine. Veal scallopini is done just right. Waiters were fair, not knowing who ordered what for a party of two and it was not very busy for a Friday evening. Live music was played nicely by a solo pianist, even though our table was a bit too close to it. All in all, the service is usually much better during lunch hours, but the food is prepared deliciously. A good find in the Murray Hill neighborhood!"

  • "NYC Restaurant week is not always indicative of the best meals, but this was very disappointing. I had previously enjoyed the food on last year's visit. Although the appetizers were the best part of the meal, the main dishes were very bland, and the dessert was just pitiful. How do you serve ice cream in a paper cup?"
    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "Love this place! I am a repeat offender and love to share this place with my friends, you won't be disappointed."
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "We were seated promptly, food was very good, some nice live music and then the letdown. A close inspection of the $400 bill (there were 4 of us) showed there were 2 extra drinks on the bill that we had never ordered. They were removed when i pointed it out to the waiter but the bad feeling in my stomach did not go away."

  • "Fantastic appetizer of salmon carpaccio. The best part of the main dish - veal in cream sauce - were the mushrooms. The ice cream dessert.....well, it was part of the Restaurant Week special. The service was very good. Rossini's is an upscale Murray Hill restaurant. Good place to take the family."

  • "I have had the pleasure of dining twice at Rossini's in the past 6 months and have been quite impressed with the food, the service, and the atmosphere. I felt everything was impeccable...even the restroom screamed of management's desire to please the patrons. The incredibly difficult to please group I dined with on both occasions had no complaints...which is highly irregular."

  • "Food was great and service was excellent. Great spot."

  • "We usually eat on the a Westside but were staying near this restaurant . The menu for Restaurant Week looked good . My first course of calamari was like chewing gum. I have never had such rubbery calamari . I sent it back and had the mussels which were good. The veal was good. The tortoni was okay and the cannoli was a little too sweet. I do not think I will go back here again. There are better restaurants on Madison Avenue around the corner."

  • "I went with my friends. Awesome dinning environment and service. Best bruschetta I've ever eaten. Restaurant week set taste good overall. Good balance of vegetables, salmon slices, lemon, sauce in my appetizer. Main course was fine, the veal and sauce tasted mild with aroma of cognac. My friend thought the pasta of the day awesome, particularly the beef. Cannoli was fine although the stuff was a bit over sweet. We added an extra dessert of pear and ice-cream, it looked so funny."
    Dined on 2/20/2014
  • "The atmosphere is rreally nice. The mussels were the best I've ever had. I hope they're on the menu the next time I'm there. There will be a next time. The restaurant is well placed on the East side near the Mid-town Tunnel and is especially good for anyone coming in from Long Island. The food, veal for two and lasagna for one, was all tasty. Especially good was the soup special of the day - a 3 bean soup. All-in-all a memorable lunch."

  • "We haven't had such attentive service in a while. The staff all knew their roles and worked together wonderfully. They were attentive and approachable. All had a sense of humor and enjoyed their work. The food was amazing, so it made for a memorable NYC Otalian evening!"
