I chose Rosie O'Grady's because it was conveniently located near the hotel I was staying at and it was a rainy cool night in NYC. Overall very pleasantly surprised by my dinner. Salad was fresh and I liked the herb vinaigrette dressing. Chicken Cordon Blue was a big positive surprise! I personally don't like mushroom gravy on my chicken so ordering the entree with the gravy on the side was a good choice. The chicken was tender and flavorful so it really did not need a nasty gravy on it. Only thing negative is that the wine glasses/portions are way too small for the pricing.

What can be said about a successful evening? We had 6 o'clock reservations and an 8 o'clock showtime one block down the street. We were on time; our reservation was honored on time. The rest of our party was a bit early; they were not made to cool their heels in the lobby until we arrived; they were already seated comfortably at our table - I must say, I do love that decision by the restaurant. After the meal ended, we strolled down the street and into the theatre well before the curtain went up. The wait staff was prompt & friendly. There was no need to search for someone to fill our drinks during the meal. We did not sit over empty plates, nor did someone reach for our plates during a pause. All of the dishes were well cooked and well presented. The pace of the dining experience was perfect - not rushed, not delayed. When we were ready for the check, the hostess (who had been walking around keeping a watchful, but inobtrusive eye on the needs of the diners) simply printed out and presented the bill instead of running off to find the waitress. I applaude the teamwork. The atmosphere of restaurant was not subdued by any means, but we were able to have a conversations with our group easily. The bar is off to one side of the restaurant with a divider adequtely diffuing the boisterous bar conversation. The wall of ceiling to floor windows provided a nice view of the neighborhood, allowing for the outside lighting to enhance the moderately dim dining room. The menu had a nice variety of seafood, chicken & fish and the prices were reasonable for mid-town Manhattan. Oh, and let's not forget about the availability of discounted parking right down the street The only thing that was puzzling to us was how, given our non-tourist status, we missed meeting up with the delight which is Rosie O'Grady's years ago. We will be back, and often.

Rosie O'Gradys was an establishment I'd always wanted to visit. The experience from beginning to end was wonderful. We had dinner reservations for 4:30pm, we arrived and were seated immediately. Our server, Shelia, was prompt & gracious. All of the waiters & servers paid attention to details. They refilled our glasses, removed our plates, refilled our bread basket, all without looking around for them. It was a pleasure to eat in an establishment that their workers do their job. My husband & I were treated as special clients. They paid attention to detail, without hovering around, or making you feel like you had to hurry to finish your dinner. It was a relaxing, calm dinner. We will eat here again. We will recommend this to everyone.

My wife and I ate at Rosie O'Grady's on a Tuesday night before a show at the Neil Simon Theater. The location was great ... steps away from the theater. The food was good and the serving sizes impressive for a theater district/NYC restaurant. I had the fish and chips; hot, crunchy and with malt vinegar! My wife enjoyed an entree salad with portabello mushroom. Prices were reasonable, the service was polite and quick, and we made the show with time to spare. (No problems when we had to push back our reservation at the last minute because of traffic delays, either!) Definitely would return!

This restaurant had been recommended by a local New Yorker. The ambience was indeed pleasant however, the food truly is just average. The service was somewhat lacking as we requested one item (a side of roasted vegetables) twice but never did receive it. Our server seemed more than a bit disinterested during the entire meal and was simply going through the motions. If you're in the area and need something last minute, Rosie O'Grady's could certainly fit the bill. Okay but not memorable.

We were going to the theater wanted "not very serious" dinner nearby; a burger or salad would be fine. My husband and I had eaten there years before and remembered it as bing fine. When we looked at the menu online. it seemed to be just what we were wanted. When we were steed and presented with menus, there were no burgers or lighter fare. We asked the waiter if there was a "bar menu" since all we wanted was as previously stated and we were told "not at dinner." We ordered our dinner and two (sea scallops) were very good, Chicken Parm was okay, but the Chicken pot pie was lukewarm and greatly lacking in chicken. Coffee came cold and waiter offered to take it off the bill rather than brew a new pot, which he did on request. We won't return.

We went for my boyfriends birthday, on Tuesday afternoon. The food was great, but the service was just "ok". We were a bit early for our reservation but they sat us anyhow. Our server was very friendly, but a little slow with some of our requests. And, I have to say... I was a bit disapointed with this particular experience because I'm pretty sure they either totally ignored my special request in the reservation or just chose not to read it because they didn't even acknowledge that it was my boyfriend's birthday. Also, they charge you $3 for a soda, then don't allow free refills, which is completely ridiculous, in my opinion.

We have frequently dined at this well-known restaurant during past visits to NYC. My wife's dinner, which was a Caesar Salad that she asked to split with me (actually the salad came on one large plate with an extra plate for us to "split," not sure how we were supposed to do that without proper utensils) plus the Crab Cake appetizer, was satisfying. After we asked our server to split the salad, when my entrée (Irish Beef Stew), arrived, I was over-whelmed by the HUGE size of the serving. It could easily have fed a family of four. I could only eat a very small portion of the five pieces of beef in the stew. In a city where so many homeless people "reside," how can a well-known restaurant possibly justify such an obscene portion of food?

We had a late lunch, and the place was pretty empty. The Fish and Chips were ok, the tartar sauce was rather bland and didn't have enough relish. The Chicken Piccata was good. Prices were high, but given the touristy location, is to be expected. This is not a place I would return to if given a choice. There are probably better places in the area.

The service was friendly but incompetent, at least not for our group of five. The noise level is fairly high even when the attractive main room is only half full, and for some reason management thinks they should add their own strange idea of good background music. The appetizer salads were fresh and tasty except someone should buy a salad spinner to help get out the rinse water. The French onion soup was misnamed; it should have been called Swiss cheese blob. The fish main courses were good quality and fresh but overcooked and incompletely boned. The desserts were very good and the tea service was worthy of a good hotel in Dublin or London. If there is a next time, it will be for dessert only.

A perfect place for us to celebrate my daughter's Sweet 16! Table of four, and the maitre d' could not have been more friendly or accommodating. He came to speak to my daughter and congratulate her on her 16th birthday, and at the end of dinner brought over a small (delicious) cake with a candle, and had a few waiters sing to her - I don't think this is something they normally do (I had asked ahead of time) but they were really cute about it & it was very 'sweet'. Filet Mignon was PERFECTION, and two of us had seafood, which was also good. The whole package was exactly what we were looking for. The restaurant is huge for NYC and was right at the tip of times square - perfect setting and great start to the night. Would highly recommend.

Generally I go there on special occasions due to the $$, but it never disappoints. In the past 9 years I tried dishes from filet & lobster to their seafood platter. Always cooked perfectly. The steaks melt in your mouth. Service is excellent. A slight wait for the check now and then if their busy. Not a big issue. It's always consistent over all for an excellent dinning experience. Great for entertaining out of town folks since Times Square is down the street!
