Diner Reviews
  • "The location was ideal for all parties and the venue well known. Ambience was perfect and waiter service was unobtrusive yet attentive. Food was good and enjoyable as were the wines. Toilets were below par but useable but our main gripe was the price of wines created the high bill for what we actually ate. This will dull our enthusiasm to meet there again with so many other choices in the area."

  • "On a trip to New York we were looking for somewhere to eat quite close to the hotel - a bit of searching on the internet and we booked a meal at Rosie O'Grady's. When we arrived, they were expecting us and we were taken to our table straight away and it was not long until the waiter came along to take our orders. We opted for a starter and a main course only, but the food was delicious and as promised the seafood was wonderful. All in all, the food was great, the wine was good, the service was good and the price was reasonable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to New York."

  • "We were looking for a place that was convenient but fond a gem. Service was very good and everyone, 6 people, all liked what they ordered."

  • "The waiter was friendly. My filet was VERY dry and overcooked. My girls split muscles and the lobster ravioli and loved them both. The cheesecake was homemade and rich but rather tasteless. The chocolate mousse was delicious as well. I would recommend it"

  • "We always make reservations here when we are in NYC. Food is reliably excellent, service is very good, and it is a quiet retreat from the noise, but allows one to watch the people passing by on the street."

  • "The draft beer tasted like dish water. The bloody Mary was watered down and had no flavor. The entree portabella salad was small for the price compared to the California chicken sandwich with French fries, which was more food and less expensive."

  • "Let me first say that recognize a restaurant in Midtown at 6:30 on a Saturday is likely to be busy; I get that. What escapes me is that, with a reservation, my party of 3 waited for over 30 minutes. I get a 10/15 minutes wait, but 30 borders on rude in my opinion. Truth be told, beyond that, I was relatively pleased in general and more than pleased with the food. I got the Prix Fixe w/ calamari, tenderloin medallions and irish cream cake for $38. Add another $10 for my Pinot Noir w/ dinner and then a Bailey's and coffee w/ dessert. All very tasty w/ the exception of a very raw flour taste on the calamari. I would go back again but not as a first choice,"

  • "We were in town for an autism-friendly performance of Wicked and needed a family friendly place that could seat 10 with gluten free options. This place fit the bill. We were an hour early for our reservation but our table was ready and they seated us right away. Food was good, staff was pleasant and atmosphere was welcoming. Would definitely visit again."

  • "good value, no slacking. Nice service, decent food. Would return if the meal is not necessarily the star of the day, but needs to not be a hit or miss guess. Tourist trap? yes, but does what it does well. Kudos."

  • "Good location; very nice room; efficient and professional staff; disappointing food. Crab cakes were 75 percent filler. Chicken pot pie had good filo dough crust, very little chicken, and a lot of celery."

  • "My friend and I had a dinner reservation at 6:30 p.m. this past Friday. I arrived on time and asked to be seated. Unfortunately, my friend was stuck on the train for 45 minutes and arrived 20 minutes late. I had mentioned to our waiter that we were going to the theater so he would be aware of our time constraints. He took care of us beautifully especially with only an hour to eat the pre-fixed three-course dinner and a very busy dining room. We did not feel rushed. I would definitely recommend Rosie O'Grady's for good food, service and a reasonable price."

  • "I stayed at the Sheraton in Times Square for a conference and was worried about over priced, bad food. This place was anything but. Great food. Exceptional service. Directly across the street from the hotel. Was able to make a reservation for two within 2 hours of dinner time on a Friday night. Will definitely go back."

  • "Needed to adjust reservation time for dinner due to guest delays, very helpful. Prompt seating @ reserved dining time. Very nice range of dinner selections. Meals were prepared exactly to order and delicious. Service was prompt and friendly. Very enjoyable dining experience. In fact returned a different evening with different group and had same overall good experience."

  • "Our family met up at Rosie O'Grady's before going to Carnegie Hall. I have passed this restaurant many times and know about it, but actually did not know anyone who ever ate here. I decided to give it a try. Well, I was very surprised at just how nice the restaurant is and the food is really good. Not outstanding, just good solid, tasty food. We had a lovely time and our waitress, Kathleen, was great - perfect amount of attention time - not too much, not too little. And she is very sweet. Thank you for a very nice experience."

  • "Admittedly, I reserved at Rosie O'Grady's with a bit of apprehension. I had heard some negative comments from the people that went to some of the other locations, and I was figuring yet another touristy restaurant with average food. I was happily proved wrong. The atmosphere was perfect, the staff friendly and the food delicious. The steak that I had was good, but the shining stars were my wife's Duck and our guest's lamb shank. I should have went for the Pork Chops. Prices are reasonable, eventual price was $50/head with drinks, desert and gratuity. Next time I'm in that part of the theater district, Rosie's will be my choice,"

  • "We've dined here before and again had a very good experience. Most like the wine list choices; food is generously portioned and very tasty. The shrimp scampi was outstanding! The service was excellent and we were not rushed at all; good pacing between courses."

  • "In the mecca of hotels and restaurants available in this area, it was nice to return to Rosie O'Grady's. My reserved table was ready - in the booth requested in order to catch up with a few friends over a nice dinner. J had the fish and chips, J2 had the lamb and I enjoyed the swordfish. The staff allowed us to visit over the meal; we did not feel rushed and that was appreciated due to the pre-theater timing. Pricing was right for the options ordered."

  • "The dinning room was much nosier than we have experienced in the past, we were seated in the corner and would have thought it would have been quieter!"

  • "I went with friends to this restaraunt during a trip to NYC. Everyone agreed that this was one of the highlights of the trip. The food was fantastic, the service was phenomenal and the prices are reasonable for that location. This is my go to restaraunt the next time I hitup Times Square or the theatre district."

  • "Our kids gave us tickets to see Beautiful. Being a Carole King fan, you can guess our ages, Excellent food. Our server was great. A very attentive young lady. We were there during Super Bowl weekend and the city was crazy. We made a reservation and did not wait at all."

  • "Very nice meal here after a show. Far better than the food you can get in the surrounding theater area of pizza joints and Fridays restaurants. Atmosphere was nice, food was comfort food which was great on a snowy day. I would definitely revisit."

  • "Rosie O'Grady continues to serve quality food in a comfortable setting with good service. Perfect place to dine and catch up with an old friend as they don't rush you out the door. Have been coming here for years and recommend it for pre-theater dinner and post-theater drinks!"

  • "I was taking out a client's wife who I had never met before & then we were going to a matinee. It was perfect because the menu is so varied that we were both ablt to enjoy something. It had been quite a while since I had been to the restaurant as I no longer work in this neighborhood but further East & I was quite happy to find the service & quality were still up to what I remembered. The service was efficient but not overbearing & we were able to take our time both before ordering & while dining."

  • "I use this spot for business dinners as well as family visits to the Big Apple and it is always a good choice. The menu is greatly varied so that there is always something that everybody likes at realistic pricing for Manhattan. The staff is accomodating and honors my special requests for things like specific tables (i'm fussy), any menu variations and "pressed for time service" before a show. My customers are always impressed and return on subsequent visits to the city. Sinply stated..... never had a bad experience here."

  • "Booked dinner for after B'way show. Not my first time to Rosie O'Grady's and have always enjoyed it. Had a drink at the bar and very nice service. Menu for dinner varied and enjoyed my steak and "sides" --- creamed spinach and the mushrooms/onions mix. My dining companion also liked his steak. Both cooked perfectly! Waiter was cordial and provided just the right amount of service --- not there every 2 minutes but available as needed. I would recommend Rosie's for a party of 2 or 22!"
