Diner Reviews
  • "Good food, wonderful service, friendly staff. Prices good, plenty of food. Bar drinks were excellent. Clean restrooms . Service was quick and we there in the height of lunch time."

  • "Rosie O'Gradys used to be one of our favorite restaurants however today's visit was disappointing. The glasses were dirty, the soup was lukewarm, and the food was bland and undercooked. Not to mention, we had to remind the server that we did not receive a bread basket. We will not be dining here again unfortunately."

  • "If you are looking for a solid stand-by, Rosie's is it. Not fancy by any means; moderately priced for Mid-town Manhattan; lovely wait staff and accommodating maitres d'. Go with the pot pie or shepherd's pie. We asked for a window table, since it was our anniversary, and they saved us one. Go early! 6:30 will get you out in time to see your show. Fast service and nice food."

  • "Went with my wife for lunch before a matinee. No trouble getting a reservation. Hostess and servers were friendly and courteous. Food came in a timely fashion and was reasonably priced."

  • "The host was fantastic and the food was delicious! However, the bartender really wanted nothing to do with us. If you're looking for something "fruity" to drink, don't bother. Apparently the bar carries nothing fruit flavored - so we were told. Our waiter took forever to take our order and rarely came by to see if we needed anything. And we didn't get our drink order (tea and soda) quickly. Took about 20 minutes just to get a refill. The food was fabulous - but the service needs serious work! Would I go again? Maybe ... for the food; definitely not for the service. Would I recommend it? The food is great! But allow PLENTY of time!"

  • "We told the waiter we were going to a show. Service was incredibly slow. Diners who came after us were finished. Could not figure out the problem. Wonder if the waiter forgot to put our order in. Rarely came to check on us.. Would probably not return."

  • "Arrived early for our reservation but were seated promptly. While the bar area was very noisy we were seated by a window in a more secluded area and where the noise level was comfortable for conversation. Chose this restaurant for it's convenience to the theater and to parking. Another factor was the menu which was varied and different from the usual Italian fare and steak houses in the area. We both ordered from the "traditional Irish selections", one shepherds pie and one chicken pot pie, both were good. Prices were moderate for Manhattan theater district. Service was very good."

  • "Took nieces, nephew and partner here for pre-theater dinner. Good choice for picky eaters. Fair prices. Kids menu. We had mozzarella sticks, chicken Milanese, lobster ravioli, filet mignon tips, crab cakes and pork chops. Everyone enjoyed their meals but we envied the pork chops. Crab cakes were fair - good but not southern style. Too much breading. Why southerners get crab cakes in the north continues to amaze me. (Sorry, but there is a difference-and I'm from NY). Service was good. Lively bar scene. Not a foodie establishment but quality was good. A good choice for the group. A little loud but hard to avoid that around Times Square. Bar looked like it has a good happy hour crowd. Seafood sampler appetizer platter looked incredible."

  • "We reserved our table for a post show dinner and absolutely loved the ambiance, food, and service. Service was prompt, courteous, and efficient. Food was excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant!!"

  • "We chose this location from previous experience and close to theater performance. The ambience was great and allowed much private dialogue from family whom we have not seen for years. Party was late but was accepted without complaint by waitress and hosts. Wonderful tolerance. Good choice beers and wine by glass and the set prix menus were superb amounts, full of flavours and reasonable. Service was fast, efficient and yet unobtrusive. We spent 2 hours over the dinner course and thoroughly enjoyed the experience yet again."

  • "Had lunch outdoors for the first time here last week. Normally would not have thought to eat here and sit outside but it was a really beautiful day. The tables are right on 7th Avenue so its abit noisy but not as crazy as further down the road inTimes Square. The outdoor area is shaded and its a great place to people watch and catch up for a quick lunch. Had a really nice time. The server was also very polite and attentive. They had a great lunch special with good prices and large portions."

  • "I frequent Rosie's and especially with larger parties, however this time around the service was poor. We arrived promptly at our reservation time, were seated and then basically ignored for 35 minutes. There were tables around us that were served before us even though we arrived before them, we had to ask for the bread basket and again, we sat in between two tables who were served bread before us and we were there before them. The waiter had to be flagged down to refill our water glasses. I'm not encouraged at all to return, nor will I recommend that we host any more lunches/drinks at Rosie's."

  • "Excellent! I invited a client to lunch and selected Rosie O'Grady's since the last time I was there must have been 20 years ago. So beautiful and the food was excellent. I will have this on the Top 3 list and can't want to go again."

  • "Our group really enjoyed Rosie's and will definitely go back. Two minor things: they ran out of the chocolate lava cake, that was very disappointing. And half way through dinner, we ate early, there was a very annoying music playing somewhere causing a deep base boom-boom-boom that was bothersome. Food was delicious and service was good!"

  • "Loved the restaurant. Went for lunch just before we went to the theatre. A very good luncheon menu and the food was prepared very well. All four at my table were pleased. Loved the atmosphere with the dark wood. Very attentive server. Would go there for dinner the next time we are in NYC"

  • "I love this place and have been going there for years. It has always been wonderful. The service this last time was slow and somewhat disfunctional. I guess everyone is entitled to an off day."

  • "Food was delicious. Service at the bar and the table was very pleasant and gracious. Menu had a nice variety of options. They sat us even though our whole party wasn't there yet. We appreciated that courtesy."

  • "Ordered steak - one well done, the other medium. They both came medium but burnt on the outside and the peppercorn sauce served with the steaks was cold! On the upside, the Irish stew was, described by my husband, as delicious! Would visit again as the ambience was lovely, service quick but would give the steaks a miss! Oh and the bread served before the meal was yummy!"

  • "We were in NYC for the first time in several years and always liked this restaurant and stopped for lunch. I had a large seafood salad and my wife could not make up her mind, but based on feedback from the waitstaff she went with the crab cake sandwich. What a terrible choice. The crab cake appeared to be no larger than than the frozen version she has bought which was filled with breading and very little snow crab. It was cooked unevenly and put on what was listed as brioche, but looked more like a hamburger bun. The french fries were very limp and soggy and not cooked all the way through. We were told the oil was not hot enough, so my question is why serve it? They did comp her meal, but that was not the point. It was a wasted meal."

  • "In NY on Memorial Day Weekend and stumbled across while taking a walk. Made reservations on line (simple) and two hour later six of us were enjoying a fabulous meal with excellent service. The prices were mid range but two in our group got the prix fixe for three courses ($38) and the portions were much much larger than expected. Overall, I can recommend this place. "

  • "Came early for our reservations but were seated promptly. Very good service, menu choices complete, no issue with being on time for theater - was recommended by family member who has much knowledge of NYC restraurants &!wanted us to have a good experience before seeing a play. We were pleased."

  • "Very attentive and informed staff. Great menu with well prepared food. The seafood salad is "the bomb". My wife had the scallops and was similarly impressed. Seafood and Guinness -- what more could you want for a light lunch. "

  • "I'm not one for salting my food, but their shrimp pesto special needed some flavor. My boyfriend loved his steak and roasted potatoes. Wait staff is friendly and efficient at getting you in and out for the theater. We'll go back again and next time I'll have the steak. "

  • "We had a great dining experience after seeing Wicked. My two daughters loved the food, the calamari was a big hit. The wine was great, my wife and I both really enjoyed the medallions of filet mignon. The mash potatoes and grilled veggies were awesome. And of coarse, everyone enjoyed the dessert, the chocolate mousse and the baileys Irish cream cake were unbelievable. "

  • "Went there lunch, food was great, and so was service"

  • "Upon arrival the maitre D seated us promptly at a semi circular table where we were able to view the entire center section and no one seated behind us which made conversation easy. Service was quick and well paced. The portions were quite generous. We both had the prix fixe dinner( 3 courses). The food selection on the prix fixe was delightfully appealing. Checking out was slow. I should have mentioned under special requests that we had a performance to attend. We will definitely recommend Rosie O'Grady to our friends."

  • "Great lunch, great service and the prix lunch menu was a great price. Lunch before going to see Wicked and totally was a great experience. Would definitely go there again when in NY."

  • "I had to find a good place for 10 of us to have dinner before seeing Jersey Boys, and it turned out that Rosie's was right. The 3 course pre-show menu had great choices for everyone in our group, the wine was excellent and the service team made sure we were on time for the show (which was only a few doors down). Next time we'll skip the show and just sit back and enjoy the meal a little while longer!"

  • "Booked Rosie 0 gradys via open table which was a good idea as even on a Sunday evening the place was packed as it's obviously very popular. My son and I had fillet mignon which was fine, mash fine, my wife had fillet of beef which was ok but she thought the sauce was bland, starters were good, service a bit slow at times but they were busy - overall if your visiting NYC as we were for a few days it's a good place to eat but book beforehand. "

  • "I've have been to many restaurants in the city before seeing a show....this was by far one of the best, not your typical Irish menu, although they do have your Irish staples..its local to theaters, we had 4 people in our party seated promptly, all our meals were hot and delicious ! I will go again next time I'm in the city."

  • "Dinner was delicious. The pre fixe theater dinner menu offered a nice selection and included a three course meal. The service was outstanding. I would definitely go back."
