Diner Reviews
  • "Everything was great, only negative comment we had to ask for our waiter often within the first hour after being seated, although he was a professional. Had to wait a long time to take initial drink order and our dinner order otherwise everything was very enjoyable"

  • "We love this restaurant, but this time the server was so condescending and rude our dining experience was really ruined. I think he thought that we were not suitable for this restaurant as we were just coming from a Wolves game and were not all dressed up. But, he still should have provided polite service. We dine here often and will go back since the food is outstanding, but the celebration was limited due to the service issue."

  • "With all of the new dining establishments that have opened up in Rosemont, of late, we prefer to stick with a winner. Rosewood's food continues to be outstanding. The service is excellent, and cocktails are done right and the wine list is exceptional. May not be the place for "hipsters", but for a great meal experience with great service, Rosewood still has it. Wish they still had piano playing in the bar."

  • "We had an enjoyable time and the food was exquisite. Kudos to the entire staff!!!"

  • "Consistently one of the best independent restaurants in Chicagoland. Close to O'Hare and worth the drive if you're not in the area. Wonderful steaks and seafood and a great ambiance."

  • "I chose Rosewood for my birthday celebration, and they did not disappoint! We arrived early for our reservation and our table was waiting. My party ordered filets, prime rib, salmon and chicken. Every order was perfectly prepared and delicious! A surprise white chocolate cake for dessert topped off the evening. Good food, cocktails, and service!"

  • "First time there - looks like customers have been going there forever Dark Paneling - excellent food I had a rib eye. They invented new rareness between medium and medium rare. It was perfect. They have a bar next door with a live piano player. The only con was the water got lost took 15 minutes to get the check. I would be back. Sit in the bar at one of their booths, eat the steak and listen to the piano."

  • "It was a beef weekend. Had lunch at Ruth's Chris on Friday ( still can taste the butter), but what a pleasant surprise for dinner on Saturday. Started with the Crabcake, at my dates request - nice mild flavor and great presentation, A fair Ceasar salad followed, but then the best Prime Rib I've had in a very long time. Must have been at least 3" thick prepared perfectly at prime plus and tender. I could not have been more pleased. Service was adequate if unremarkable and the room reninded me of various other steakhouses, but I did come for the beef. Highly recommeded - bring plently of cash."

  • "For a city person like me who's used to modern & hip places, this is a nice place to dine in if you want something out of downtown Chicago. I like the ambiance, considering it to be in a more conservative atmosphere (wood panelings); not too noisy probably because we had dinner on a Monday when it was not too busy. The food was great as well as the service & the staff was pleasant. I just wished they played a little bit more modern piped in music, at least music of the 80s or 90s rather than 70s. But overall, we enjoyed the meal & will recommend this place."

  • "Old school steakhouse with very good service from the wait staff. It was almost empty so therefore quiet. Nice bartender. The food is fine, nothing imaginative or even a new take on old approaches, but perfectly acceptable. Pricey but inline w/Gibson's, etc. The wine list is hard to navigate but worse, very overpriced for the mid quality wines on the list. Bring your own & pay the corkage fee."

  • "The restaurant staff were great. I needed a quiet table to have a business discussion and they were 5 star. They were patient and none intrusive. Perfect. From the valet parking to the after dinner coffee. Can not think of a thing that I would recommend that they do different."

  • "Food was good - service was average . Very pricey, everything is ala carte. It was average at best. For a special occasion might be a good choice."

  • "i made reservations on-line and then called the restaurant to let them know what we would be celebrating "cancer free" and asked that a participate dessert be served. Well, the dessert we wanted was served along with an additional one "on the house". WOW! Food, service, ambience was excellent."

  • "What a wonderful evening! The bone-in Ribeyes and Filets were incredible. The service we received from the moment we arrived was a great memory. Pauline knew how to make us feel so special and comfortable with the entire experience. Really? Caymus by the glass? Creme Brulle topped it all off."

  • "I was a little disappointed in the Rosewood. There are certainly plenty of better spots in the O'Hare area for very good dining experiences. It might not have helped that we were seated near a small child at an adjoining table. While the child wasn't bad for her age, it still caused a little more noise than I would have liked. The service was just fair, the food was good, and the ambience lacks interest. I felt that the waiter was not as engaged with our table as I would have liked. It seemed that a restaurant entrance as beautiful as Rosewood's would have as beautiful a restaurant interior but it didn't have a lot of character. Overall It was not a positively memorable experience and I would not bother going back again."

  • "I've been here for several special occasions and I've always enjoyed my visit. This Valentine's Day was a little different. Upon arrival, we were seated in the "Fireplace Room" which I'm not too fond off, especially with B96 music playing inside. This restaurant is classier than that. An elegant romantic theme should of been the sounds. Service seemed rushed and the free dessert is no longer included in your meal. It might be a while before I return, just kinda sad with the experience considering my previous experiences."

  • "I took my loved one to the Rosewood for Valentines Day dinner. When we arrived at the restaurant, despite having a reservation, we had to wait for about twenty minutes. The decor of the interior was quite dated, somewhat reminiscent of something you would have seen in the 1970's. After being seated, we ordered our appetizers which were brought out relatively promptly, but waited a while to put in our main course orders, which came after a wait time of approximately 25 minutes. When the food was brought out — my dish, a blue filet with peppercorn seasoning, and my partners dish, a medium rare filet — our steaks had been cooked to the incorrect temperature. Little to nothing was done to remedy this appropriately."

  • "We celebrated our son and his fiancée engagement. It was an excellent evening with very good food, good service and lots of good conversation. Certainly worth the price. It was a little pricey, but the food was worth it."

  • "We usually eat at the Bar. The Bar has large booths that make it great for couples and groups of 4 or less. Atmosphere is "old school" Hollywood Art Deco Bar, but at the same time not stuffy, or too "old school". The food is great, service is exactly what I would expect, professional, prompt, but not hurried. Also willing to make recommendations. Excellent Wine list. Parking lot and Valet. Highly recommended for Dinner, also for Drinks and Appetizers."

  • "This is the 3rd time I have taken customers and each time has been AWESOME! I typically took those customers to Morton's or Gibson's but last year found out about this hidden gem! The steaks are just as good as Morton's and well cant say they are better than Gibson's but nothing really is! I had the grouper this round with a calamari appetizer for the table. Everything was cooked perfectly and timely."

  • "I went with a group of 6 and we were all treated with great service. All was great! I gave the food a 4 star only for the fact that, while the steak was cooked perfectly, and did taste overall good, it could have been seasoned a little more. This restaurant does not have different season options like "blackened", etc. We did have to drop a pretty penny, but it was a great night out!"

  • "Absolutely fantastic!! The warm greeting at arrival, superb waiter, and delicious meal made for a welcome paradise during a difficult trip through Chicago. I'm a native Texan, and I have to say the bone-in filet mignon was the most tender, flavorful steak I've ever enjoyed. Thank you, Rosewood. I'll be back on my next trip to Chicago."

  • "Went to Rosewood to celebrate my brother-in-law's 65th birthday. Had asked the staff when I made the reservation to provide us with a table in a quiet location since my brother-in-law is somewhat hard of hearing. They did that and more. Treated him like he was truly a very special person even giving him a piece of cake with candle. As always the food was outstanding and the service was even better. Thank you Rosewood!"

  • "We dine at most all the Rosement/DesPlaines/Park Ridge Restaurants, and always find Rosewood to be on top of their game, Food preparation and presentation are always great, staff is knowledgeable and friendly as is the ownership. With Mortons, Gibsons, Ditka's Hugos Frog Bar all competeing in the area, Rosewood has never failed to deliver a bit more in both value and ambiance. The layout leads to less noise, the wine list is large Great Value!"

Our dinner was succulent and our service was top notch. Jimmy's always at the helm running the place with precision. Thank you, Rosewood fir such a wonderful experience."

  • "Got there earlier than reservation time, but were seated right away. Dinner was great - tomato soup was creamy, calamari tender and crispy, lamb cooked well and not too gamey, scallops buttery but a couple bites were slightly gritty, polenta was pretty good. Barley risotto was not popular - too firm. Prime rib was so big we ate off it for 3 meals. Potatoes were good, broccoli was just ok. the warm chocolate cake and ice cream was wonderful. Drinks at the piano bar afterwards was nice - we got a little booth in the corner and just hung out for hours. Not an impressive drink menu, but the ambiance was nice and the music was pretty good. Musician left around 10, we wished he had stayed a bit later. Overall a great evening!"

  • "As always, everything about this establishment is superb. Shrimp cocktail with jumbo shrimp that were really fresh. New York strip steak to die for, cooked to perfection, au gratin potatoes and sautéed mushrooms! Lobster bisque soup was rich and flavourful. Jim is a perfect host. I love this place!!!! Highly recommend!"

  • "All went well weather and all. You were within 30 minutes of our scheduled time. We went to the bar I ordered two drinks one for each of us mine Vodka and Seven-up all I tasted was seven-up I think the bar tender just passed the bottle over the glass I was not happy I paid $7.50 for nothing. Could not get back to the bar to tell anyone. I had wine with dinner."

  • "Rosewood is one of our favorite restaurants!! The food is outstanding and the white chocolate mousse cake is out of this world! We go to Rosewood for all our special occasions and to celebrate the New Year every New Years Eve!!!! Great place to eat before concerts and before heading to the Rivers Casino."

  • "Rosewood is the go to place for a special occasion or just a good upscale kind of meal. Forgot all those other places on River Road which we have generally found to be expensive rip offs and tourist appeal restaurants. Rosewood consistently delivers very good food with excellent service. Valet parking is also appreciated. Private rooms for groups."

  • "We ordered a drink, looked at the menu and heard the specials and LEFT after paying for our drink. A 24 oz Rib Eye was $68.00 (same thing at Capital Grille is $42.00), CHICKEN at $37.95 and a sweet potato at $10.00!! Everything al a carte and NOTHING (including pastas) under $38.00. That includes soup and salad -everything else is extra! This is a glorified banquet hall and how they think they can charge these kind of prices I really don't know. I will NEVER return."

  • "The service was great, food was excellent. The only complaint is the round table we there at, had the table leg in a way that I could not move my chair without being on top of my brother and so close to the table behind us that I was getting knocked into every time someone needed to pass by. It was a holiday, so a lot of people and a little cramped."
