Diner Reviews
  • "We didn't like our play, but we loved this restaurant. The menu had a great variety, the specials added to it and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the chicken marsella. We were too full for dessert, but they looked fabulous as well. This place is a keeper."

  • "Rosebud was a recommendation by a friend for dinner prior to attending the theater. Food was very good and our service was impeccable. Our waiter (Paulo) was very attentive with our meal but also walked us to the front of the restaurant to make sure we knew our way to the theater."

  • "For an evening at the theatre, there's no better place to enjoy a well-paced meal. Good food, a nice selection of wines, and perfectly timed service that was cognizant of our needing to make a curtain. My only complaint: my companion was given too much food (we weren't in a position to take a doggie bag)."

  • "This is the second time we've been to Rosebud Theatre District in the past 6 months. The veal milanese was out of this world -- some of the most tender & tasty veal we've ever had. However, the lobster ravioli topped with scallops special was somewhat disappointing. While the scallops were very tender & tasty, the rest of the dish was drowned in a veggie red sauce which was overpowering. The portions are extremely generous, and we took half of our entrees home. Salad portions are also generous, and two people can share an appetizer salad. While we were too full for dessert, we allowed ourselves to be tempted by the chocolate mousse cake, which did not disappoint! We'll be coming back soon."

  • "Had a great waiter. Funny, charming, and entertained. Good advice on food choices. Food was very good. Great find before seeing a show. Very aware of time for those going to the theater."

  • "Convenient place to meet up. We arrived early and encountered a rather raucous "bar" crowd . Still, the dining room was comfortable and food was pretty good. Service was very good, attentive yet reserved. Location for theatre district - obviously excellent."

  • "We had a great meal at Rosebud. So easy to make the reservation at a place as famous as Rosebud and in the area we were exploring. Special place for special day!"

  • "Rosebud theater district is tucked into an office building. It's got good atmosphere and a cute little atrium "outdoor" seating area."

  • "Food is decent, well prepared and generously portioned. Staff here is on the ball, knows when to engage and when to leave diners to themselves. Very fast service, can be in and out in 45 minutes if you want, good selection of healthy choices."

  • "Great menu and food. Service was good, Our waiter and wait staff were very attentive. Overall a great experience."

  • "Will not go back to this restaurant. Food portions were huge and everything was dripping in butter. My "doggie bag" had terrible containers and the plastic top wouldn't stay on. All the dishes spilled and I was left with a large bag of garlic butter. If that's what you enjoy, go for it."

  • "I chose Rosebud for a business lunch, and the food did not disappoint. I highly recommend the lobster ravioli - it was an excellent dish. My only negative comment is that our server was a bit odd and cooky. He referred to himself as an entertainer, which is fine for later evening dining but not ideal for a business lunch crowd."

  • "We chose this restaurant because the menu and location seemed good for a pre-theater meal. We made a 5:45 reservation to make it to a 7:30 show. We were seated promptly. The waiter seemed to expect us to know the various types of fish preparation available on the special menu and suggested that people from Wisconsin might not understand that this was not a supper club. He forgot our drink order before he left the table.Salads were served fairly promptly. They were unremarkable. Our main course did not arrive until 6:35, which forced us to hurry. Main courses were just okay, and the food arrived lukewarm. Coffee was also lukewarm and the waiter forgot the sugar. The room was very loud. Other diners seemed to be served more quickly."

  • "While the food and atmosphere are not spectacular, you always get good food and excellent service. Portions are huge and very reasonably priced. Service is extremely attentive and very fast, especially if you want to eat before the theater. Consistently meets our expectations."

  • "We enjoyed our time at Rosebud Theatre District so much! The food was outstanding! My salmon special was incredible. I was so sad that I couldn't take the leftovers with me, as we were going to a show right after dinner. It seemed a horrible waste to leave it. My husband loved his steak; I had a bite, and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Service was impeccable; our waiter was so attentive, but not too much so. Can't wait to come back again!"

  • "My wife and I made a reservation at Rosebud Theater District before going to the Oriental theater. The food was outstanding and the wait staff could not have been better. Our waiter was patient competently explaining the entrée choices. The service was very attentive without being obtrusive."

  • "Went here for dinner with a small group before watching a show. The service was excellent and food was really good. A nice restaurant with reasonable prices, especially since we shared large-portion entrees."

  • "Very loud after work crowd. Wait staff was very courteous and efficient. Way too much sauce on the veal marsala. Mushroom s looked suspiciously canned but tasted fresh. Whitefish served on a mound of spinach was delicious. Overall OK place to eat but would go for lunch."

  • "For simply asking if they could move our table approximately 6 inches and us obliging they comp'd us a dessert. Outstanding customer service."

  • "From the moment we walked in the staff was very attentive. The food was excellent and portions very generous. I would definitely dine there again."

  • "The food was all great, large portions, and great service! I had read a bad review about them being slow and delivering uncooked food, not even close to our experience. It was great. Definitely recommend."

  • "Very nicely decorated. The food was very good, but not memorable. Service was efficient and courteous. We went after a matinee at the Cadillac palace theater and had reservations but they were probably not necessary."

  • "Went in a group of 10. We were after the theater crowd, so timing was good. Waiter helpful. Celeb drawing on the wall great. Will go again."

  • "We had Adam as our server. The first thing he asked was if we were on our way to the theater. Very nice of him so he could keep us on time. With one of our orders the vegetables were not what was wanted, so he went to ask the chief what else could be put together. Food and Service by him and the kitchen were great!!"

  • "Excellent sized portions, very attentive service. The food is very good, though the tomato sauce used for the pasta side is somewhat lifeless, in my estimation. My wife considered it healthful though. Tables a little too close together, and somewhat noisy."

  • "Food and Service was amazing, even had coat check but I think we lasted longer waiting for valet at Rosebud Prime to find ours and everyone else's keys and cars. There was no organization, communication, anything! A huge mess. We even had to walk down the block to get to the car when they eventually took our ticket. It was VDay, but there still should be some type of system. Great restaurant, but park elsewhere."

  • "Had a special Valentines Day/anniversary dinner before theater. The service and food were great and considerate about getting us there by show time. Follow up un the reservation was thorough and informative."

  • "We ate here before going to see Phantom at the Cadillac Theater. We chose the theater special white fish which was excellent. The spinach salad was very fresh and could have been a meal in itself."

  • "This is our go-to for great Italian food, and service. Our experience on Valentine's day was superb. We did not go with the pre-set menu, but went just off the regular menu. Our server was outstanding, the bus service incredible too. The management came to check up, make sure all was well, which it was. Chicken Vesuvio, outstanding. Sausage and peppers, fantastic app. My wife got the Penne al vodka. That too was wonderful."

  • "My wife and I had theatre tickets and made dinner reservations at Rosebud. Fortunately, we were seated in Timothy's section. The other waitstaff may be good, but Timothy takes waiting to an art. He is delightful, knows the menu preparation in detail and is very attentive. The food was excellent. While not being rushed, the service gave us plenty of time to eat (salad, appetizer and dessert) and make it to the theatre with time to spare. We will definitely return - and ask to be seated in Timothy's section when we do."

  • "This was our third time dining at Rosebud Theater District. We always find the food to be good and the staff to be very attentive. Great location for pre-show dinners!"
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "The food and desserts are excellent. I know when I go to Rosebud I will not be disappointed in any of the dishes I order. The veal piccata? Out of this world good! The chicken saltimbocca? Fabulous! Roasted Asparagus? Cooked to the perfect snappy tenderness. Tiramisu? Heaven! The bartender also makes a delicious Lemon Drop martini. I am always very satisfied when I leave, with a small doggie bag as well!"

  • "The portion sizes are enormous! The three of us all had leftovers but since we were heading to the theater, we left them behind. Little did we know that if you ask, they will hold your leftovers for after the performance! Bummer! Next time I'll ask if we can share entrees or have our leftovers waiting for us... The food is too good to waste!"
