We did have to wait a little while for the table still, but we were able to enjoy a drink at the bar. The food was outstanding and the service was great, even on this busy day. Can't wait to return again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Italian FoodI first ate at Rosebud over 20 years ago, at their restaurant in Little Italy, in Chicago, W. Taylor Street. I was very impressed by what I had back then. So, 20 years later, I finally got around to returning. I am a garlic freak. There was, and maybe still is, a restaurant, in the North Beach section of San Francisco, that touts their intense garlic flavor. And Rosebud is similar. Both the appetizer and my main dish were robust with garlic.
I don't often find Chicken Vesuvio, but it was on the menu, and I ordered it. It was phenomenal.
My fiance had the Ravioli with meat sauce and meat balls, and her's was also exceptional.
We shared a dessert which was also delicious, and most adequate.

The dishes are nothing modern, but good old classics like chicken marsala and veal saltimboca. If you are very old-world Italian, they have a neckbones special! We enjoyed ourselves and the food so much; we decided we would go there every year for our anniversary.
The service, form the bus boy thru management is exceptional. This establishment and it employees truly know how to treat a customer like they would a guest in their own home.
The quality of the food is top-notch along with their wine selection. The food is always consistent, served at the proper temperature, and delicious.
Recommendation: If you cannot decide between steak, and pasta, you should consider the “Grandmas Gravy”. Waiter offered us a free appetizer which was nice. Enjoyed the Baked clams, especially the sauce that came with it. We each had a steak (one was Vesuvio and the other Italiano). I would recommend both. For dessert I had cannoli's which were good but my partner had tiramisu which she REALLY enjoyed. Martini's were a bit pricy for quantity given. The Rosebud Old World Italian was great. Beautiful dining room, and very crowded on a Saturday night. The food was excellent, and the portions as large as we remember from the past. The four of us had a wonderful evening. My only complaint......the noise level. Very, very loud. It really goes beyond "lively". We had to wait 20-30 minutes, even though we had a reservation. They did give us a free appetizer (without asking or complaining). Food was great Our guests commented that it was the best italian food they had had. Service was also very good. My only negative was the noise level. Staff including hostess and wait staff really pleasant. Someone in our party order the special 'Baked Chicken Siciliano' I think it was called. It was fabulous and was enjopyed by almost the entire restaurant including other patrons. We laughed, took pictures and then enjoyed some of it, but mostly taking it home. It was huge but made for great conversation with everyone. Nice presentation of all entrees. We all enjoyed our meals that were ordered and will definitely be back. Our second date was the first time we came here (some time back) and the evening was perfect so, ever since then we have always gone back for any special occasions and have never been disappointed (and this was no exception). The service was excellent and the food was perfect (as always). The noise level was a bit higher than I would have preferred but then, it was prime dinner time on a Friday evening so the place was full (despite being full however, they were able to seat us immediately upon our arrival even with our being 10 minutes late for our reservation). Regardless, this restaurant is highly recommended for romantic and/or special occasions. The host offered his congratulations as soon as we walked in the door, as did our server. We were seated promptly at a lovely table by the window and attended to perfectly.
