A word from Rosebud Italian Specialties & Pizzeria
Rosebud Italian Specialties & Pizzeria provides an innovative perspective on traditional Italian cuisine with a chef driven, weekly changing menu, focusing on regional dishes and fresh ingredients. In addition to Rosebud classics including Chicken Vesuvio and Square Noodles which are staples on the menu, thin crust, Chicago-style pizzas smothered in an assortment of toppings are a fresh addition. Pies are large enough for a table to share as an appetizer, encouraging guests to savor the flavors and one another’s company before indulging in a second course. The goal is to present two distinct dining options, a more casual, family friendly pizzeria offering carry-out as well as a white tablecloth dining room where pizzas are served in addition to the weekly menu. The energetic atmosphere throughout both spaces is casual rustic Italian with striking hardwood floors, a Stone Pizza Oven, and an Antipasto Bar, providing an ideal atmosphere to enjoy a relaxing meal. Diner Reviews
  • "Even the luncheon dishes can be split. All 4 girlfriends shared dishes except me. I had the delicious steak salad, and took the other half home. 2 friends split a seafood dish and salad. The server was fabulous. She made sure we were well taken care of, and helped to make it a nice time. We sat outside, and were surprised that the outside noise level didn't effect us. Definitely a keeper for our Lunch Bunch"

  • "I had a really good time eating outside I just wish that the patio have been bigger and not so close to the street but the food was very good Italian food. The mussels were a really good appetizer and we really enjoyed the wine. Our server was very energetic. All in all it was a great dinner."

  • "I've visited from NYC numerous times to Rosebud locations across the Chicago land area. While my favorite spot resides on Taylor Street downtown...they are all great, consistent spots to grab a nice meal with family! Would definitely recommend them to other visiting and local patrons looking for a great authentic Italian dining spot!"

  • "We dined here on July 4 with another couple. We enjoyed gimlets and fresh bread with olive oil and cheese. We chose a summer salad with fruit-mango, strawberry, cranberry, apple, grapes, cheese which they split 4 ways since it was so large. We split an entree of veal marsala and rigatoni with red sauce. Serving size was ample. Quality of meat, mushrooms and pasta was excellent. Acoustics in restaurant are not good and it was difficult to hear at times. Noise level with quite loud. Waitress did a fine job of splitting the checks and periodically checking on us about needs. It was an enjoyable dinner."

  • "When your in Chicago going to the Little Italy neighborhood is a must!! This is my favorite place and the Chicken Vessuvio is my favorite. It is a bustling place and reservations will ensure your dinner plans without a 2hr wait. A MUST eat place in Chicago."

  • "Usually love this place but on our last visit the ac was almost non existent and it was very hot. Felt bad for the serving staff as well as our group. Management should have come around to each table in my opinion and at least apologized for ac not working - it was cooler outside at 84 and high humidity. I will ask if ac is working before I make another reservation there. Our waitress was great even though she looked to be melting"

  • "I'm disappointed with their new location. I've gone to their old location many times (just down the street), and that was really nice. This place was so hot, and didn't seem as homey as their last place. Otherwise, food was very good! Service, fair."

  • "ONE QUESTION...Why would anyone go to Maggianos with this place close bye. Joe (the GM) and his staff never disappoint... Just cant make my mind up which is better, the food or the service.... BOTH ARE FABULOUS !!!!"

  • "Called said no availability so booked via open table. Place was half full. Maybe person answering was to tired. Sent in complaint to headquarters. They have been to tired to respond. Went to Fiamme this week. They answered and were glad to have a table of five. Lasorella had been accomodating also. Both a couple blocks from rosebuds. Makes not returning easy."

  • "The only reason we didn't rate Rosebud five stars is the noise level. It is exceedingly noisy and hard to carry on a conversation."

  • "As always, Rosebud does not disappoint! Our table was ready when we arrived, the food was delicious and our server was quite accommodating. The only part of the experience that has left a 'bad taste in my mouth' was an inappropriate comment made by a passing server. As I was heading to the restroom, a bit wobbly due to a recent knee replacement, a server looked at me and said, "have another glass of wine". As I was not drinking wine, nor was I intoxicated, I was very offended by her comment. It was unprofessional and unfounded, and ended my evening out on a sour note. Hopefully this can be addressed so it is not experienced by other diners. Aside from this incident, we all enjoyed our time at Rosebud."

  • "Large portions. Excellent friendly service. My linguini and fusilli were overcooked, I prefer Al Dente. Salmon side dish overcooked to be a bit dry. Daughter and wife enjoyed their dishes."

  • "The food is fantastic. I had the Square Noodles with Sauce....The best home made pasta I've tasted; my husband had cheese raviolis. He loved the dish....we shared an order of meatballs. No surprise....they were HUGE and delicious. We both took leftovers home for another dinner. That said, the noise was almost unbearable. There were just the two of us, yet we had trouble carrying on a conversation. We will go back for lunch and hope the noise isn't as loud; otherwise, we will get pickup orders. The food was that good."

  • "Reservation at 11:00 which was opening time. Ordered at 11:15. Told server we had a concert to attend. 11:55, I had to leave ... Only appetizer by then. Others stayed and shoveled down food and packed up most of it. Haven't noticed this before. Would have loved my salad."

  • "We went to Rosebud on Father's Day and my entire family walked away pretty happy - and that is a rare thing. Everyone enjoyed his/her dish and 3 out of 4 of us walked away with leftovers- the portions are huge! The waiter was very nice and extremely accomodating. Our biggest complaint would be the noise level. I could barely hear my sister talking even though she was sitting right next to me. The place wasn't packed, so I think it was just the general acoustics of the space. The drinks were also a little on the expensive side, but for everything we ordered, the bill wasn't too bad. Overall, we had a nice time at Rosebud and I would go back."

  • "We went to eat at 6 PM on a busy Saturday night. We were catching up with some old friends and felt very rushed. The service was almost too much. Checked three times every 5 minutes to take our order. Service was prompt, but while eating the salad we were asked if our bread plates could be removed. After getting the appetizer and salad, the main entree came within five minutes. Piping hot but still, we had barely started on the first course. Busboy kept coming back to see if we were done and as soon as anyone showed an indication of being done, the plate was whisked away which I think put pressure on those still eating. I know they are busy and probably were looking for turnover of tables, but it just seemed too much."

  • "Rosebud is our favorite restaurant for mussels. We've eaten mussels in many places but none seem to be as good as Rosebud's. We need to expand to other items on their menu but keep going back to mussels/pasta. We prefer the restaurant's quieter times as it can be fairly noisy when crowded. Our service has always been top of the line."

  • "Rosebud is our favorite and we are always happy. On 6/5 Rosebud was not managed well. The waitress given the outside was not able to handle it and the kitchen must have been understaffed. The food was very good but after waiting 75 minutes to eat we were not even interested when it came out. Our daughter was full of bread. "

  • "We made reservations here for 4 during a busy time-6pm on a Saturday night. My husband and I had some trouble talking to the other couple we were with since we had to shout most of the time, but that was to be expected based on the time we were dining. However, disappointed that we were seated right next to the kitchen and right in the middle of the aisle where servers were coming and going! My husband ended up moving his chair over so we were squished together and that seemed to fix the situation. Was really hoping for the old Rosebud in Naperville-ambience, food, etc. My Husband proposed to me there 11 years ago. It just isn't the same-menu is different, ambience is TOTALLY different, etc. Only saving grace is the chopped salad!! Yum!"

  • "This was my first visit to Rosebud, won't be my last. We started with a couple appetizers. The calamari was good, the sausage and peppers was delicious. For dinner I ordered the pork chops, which I almost never do, but our waiter spoke so passionately about them that I had to try. Wow! What an incredible meal! The chops were tender, juicy and so flavorful. Everyone at the table raved about their food and our waiter was very attentive and helpful. The next day was spent looking forward to the leftovers. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "I wish there were more good Italian restaurants these days. I took my mom here for Mother's Day. I was surprised to find the restaurant had many empty tables when we got there. The food was okay. Not terrible but nothing to rave about either. The best part about this restaurant is the location. It is in the heart of downtown Naperville. I can't believe they charge $7 for valet parking- in Naperville - wow. "

  • "We celebrated our son's 21st birthday and Mother's Day at Rosebud on May 11. Our party of 6 had excellent service and fantastic meals. We will definitely return!"

  • "Even though it was extremely busy, with the reservation we sat down just after our time, which was nice. The service was a bit slow but with how busy it was, it was understandable. The food was very very good, but the noise level was so high I couldn't understand what anyone at our table was saying unless I got real close. The whole meal was spent relaying messages around the table which does not make for a pleasant dinner conversation and definitely is not inviting for people to stay and have coffee and dessert after the meal(which we did have after we left and went somewhere else). "
