  • "Wonderful food. You cant beat the old world feel of the food at this restaurant. Everything was wonderful. Appetizers, wine, and ravioli were all excellent. The wait staff is very pleasant with out being overbearing. The menu has something for everyone. The ambiance is lacking but you can't beat the food."

  • "If you are looking for authentic, made from scratch Italian, this is your place. Because of the preparation you are going to wait a little longer to get your food, but it is so worth it. Both Rose and Sal were on site making sure everyone is a satisfied customer. If it's a weekend, best to have reservations. Parking is scarce. Advise using their valet. If you are looking for great Italian in Chicago's Little Italy, give RoSals a try."

  • "We were in town for an overnight stay and were looking for a spot relatively close to downtown. I chose RoSals because of location and positive reviews. I was not disappointed. The food was wonderful, and Joe, our waiter could not have been better. The service and food were terrific, and we will be back the next time we are in Chicago."

  • "I was turned on to Rosal's by my neighbors who have lived in Chicago much longer than my 5 years here. We're all foodies, but ones who lean toward establishments with classic fare, authenticity and good value. Rosal's has those in aces along with creative and sensible seasonal specials. Top it off with consistently great, unobtrusive service and what's not to love about the place. An added pluses: You can converse at normal speech levels even when the place is packed. And I've never had to weave around a dozen strollers on my way to table. Friends and family I take to Rosal's always rave about it as well. A true gem on Taylor Street."

  • "Had dinner here with my out-of-town boss last week. The food was great and reasonably priced. Service was excellent and it was just quiet enough to have a business discussion while we ate. My only suggestion for improvement would be to make the Valet sign a little more prominent. We drove around the block looking for parking before noticing there was valet service. Would definitely go back and highly recommend!"

  • "We had a party of ten. Every one ordered. Not sure what happened, but the food didn't come out all at once. Several dishes were barely warm. The taste was good, but I like my food to be just under a hot temperature when served."

  • "Fried ravioli appetizer was amazing. Tons of food in typical Italian fashion. Decor could use some updating but the food more than makes up for it."

  • "RoSal's is our favorite Chicago restaurant. The food is authentic Italian and wonderful."

  • "RoSal's has never disappointed. Two floors of dining with a cozy feel on the first floor and large open space upstairs for larger groups. I prefer to dine downstairs as you can see the kitchen which makes you feel like you are dining in your family's home. The food is always made from scratch and to order, so feel free to make changes to any dish. Known for their Lasagna! I always get the Shrimp and Artichoke dish in a white sauce, the husband gets Sausage and potato dish. Both very good and plenty leftovers to take home. Service is great, the staff know the menu and the wine. An authentic Italian dining experience in the neighborhood."

  • "What a great place! Food was very well prepared and service was excellent. The owner Joe is hands on ensuring customers are taken care of. He even say and had a chat with use. Hard to find that level of customer care anymore!!"

  • "First there was plenty of on the street parking, second you could hear yourself think and have a conversation. The waiter was very knowledgable, he would tell you exactly how the food was prepared and you could make changes If you wanted to. The meals were fair sized and reasonably priced. Not a hopping bar scene for sure but that is a good thing!"

  • "This was our first time eating inside Rosal's, after picking up take out a few weeks prior and discovering how wonderful their service was we decided to go back. The food is good and the ambiance is also very nice and they probably have the most friendly staff that I have ever experienced."

  • "The overall service and food quality were great. The bread we received, while dining was hard to eat, the crust seemed burnt or over baked. It's those little things that can ruin a dinner."

  • "Have been a fairly frequent customer for the last 7 years. My daughters rehearsal dinner was held here 5 years ago. Disappointed in food and not family friendly with my 2 year old grandchild at 5pm."

  • "We had a great meal and a great time. There lots of choices and our waiter suggested a number of good things. The salad was imaginative and the pasta was perfectly cooked with large shrimp, garlic and olio. The wine recommended was great and the hot bread kept coming. A good home cooked meal that was well done is how we would describe RoSal's"

  • "Remodeled beautifully. A real gem in the heart of Taylor Street. Outstanding food and service. The fried raviolis are the best in the city. Menu has remained basically the same...varied and excelle"

  • "Delicious meal, very large portions of old-world style cooking ~ Italian comfort food like Nana used to make! Staff was friendly & service was great. Not too pricey. The fried ravioli appetizer & white chocolate mousse dessert were both fantastic!"

  • "Not having been at RoSal's in over a year, we were looking forward to an outstanding dinner which had always been our past experience but unfortunately that was not the case. We were most disappointed. I had the veal and it was tough, dry and over cooked. The service was mechanical. One of the pasta dishes arrived tepid and timid. Overall, the group felt like the food had been sitting in the kitchen and then "reheated." I hope this was just an off night, but it was a Friday which should be top of the heap. It wasn't."

  • "I love the food here. The toasted ravioli appetizer is to die for! My only "complaint" is how small it is, but sometimes the upstairs is open and that's much more roomy. You can tell the food is fresh & everything is very rich and robust. Great dining choice for a date, not for bringing kids."

  • "Food was absolutely excellent. Veal saltimbocca and portobello fettuccine were highlights. Believe it or not, best dessert was their spumoni which I ordered for my son but I ended up stealing! Good selection of reasonably priced wines. Pleasant, relaxed atmosphere, but also nice enough to come dressed up. Only knock was the service, which was admittedly earnest, but did not match up to the rest of the restaurant's qualities. First server was obviously new and untrained. She didn't know anything about the menu, and I had to ask three times for more bread and oil. Second server was rushing us out the door, and took said bread and oil away even as I was reaching for it. This was on a night where only two other tables were occupied."

  • "What more can I say...the best Italian food around."

  • "The food was very, very good. The portions were tremendous in size, almost like family size. The salads were also large and tasty. The tiramisu, which is home made, was delicious. This is a family owned business serving terrific food. They make you feel quite at home."

  • "Excellent Italian food in a great atmosphere. Staff is friendly and knowledgable and obviously love making people happy with food!"
    Dined on 8/9/2014
  • "The service was excellent. But the prices where high compared to what we were served. The veal wasn't browned enough and the flour was still gummy and under cooked, and the veal. I had the shrimp dish that everyone raved about. But the cream sauce was so heavy, you could only eat a few bites. Thanks but no thanks. In a City like Chicago, you have so many wonderful Italian places, you can be picky."

  • "Was looking for an Italian restaurant with a varied menu the night before a half marathon and WE FOUND IT!!! There was a LOT to choose from and something for everyone on the menu. The food was delicious and really nice size portions...you won't go hungry. The staff are friendly, helpful and very accommodating. The owner, Joe stopped by to say hello and see how everything was. Can't wait to get back to Chicago and RoSal's for dinner!!!!"
