Rosa Mexicano - DCAwesome Mothers Day Lunch!We dined at Rosa Mexicano for Mothers Day. The food was outstanding. My husband isn't big on guacamole. But we devoured the guacamole made table side - it had just the right balance of flavors. My husband had the Carnitas Huevos at the recommendation of our server and raved about them. I enjoyed the Beef Mole enchiladas and was thrilled with the flavor of the mole. Our daughter enjoyed the couch chicken nachos (appetizer) as her meal and it was for than plenty for her. The service was stellar, unfortunately, I can't remember the woman's name. We had the guacamole, which you don't want to miss. The table side preparation means it's fresh and they modified it a bit because of my low sodium diet. I had the carne asada which was fabulous! Served with their black beans and rice it was amazing. My sister had the chicken similarly prepared and said it was great too and it must have been since I wasn't offered a bite. We always go to Rosa Mexicano when she's in town. It's fun, the house marguerita is great and the food excellent. Nice atmosphere, since it is right across from Verizon Center in downtown DC. We went there right after the Washington Capitals beat the NY Rangers in a playoff game. So great location to go to after a game and let traffic die down.
Everyone was very friendly. Energy in the restaurant. Very nice bar area, and plenty of tables for the dinner crowd.

The food was outstanding - large portions - high end Mexican. Very lively probably because of the concert (Maroon 5) happening. Drinks were very pricey and slight. I had expected something fancier in a margarita glass, but instead my margarita came in a half glass over a lot of ice. The only other downside could have been an "up" side if we had been in a rush to get somewhere. The service was spot on, almost to the point of us feeling pushed to leave. We walk in, and this is Easter Sunday mind you, and our table was readily available no wait at all. Our waiter Andres was amazing, very attentive, knew the menu, gave great options, and yes did I say attentive. We had great food for dinner, and of course the regular pomegranate margaritas (yum). In addition our son (12yrs old) truly enjoyed his dinner. We had martinis for dessert that were not on the martini meny but as our waiter assured us they could still make them , they DID!!
