Rosa Mexicano - DCPleasant Experience at R.M.Rosa Mexicana was recommended to us by a co-worker of my husband's. we were visiting D.C. For the weekend, and we enjoy Mexican food. I can say one word "Awesome." We enjoyed the whole dining experience from the homemade guacamole prepared at our table to the finishing touch with the homemade Churro with dipping sauce for dessert. Our server was efficient and knowledgable. My husband let her order for him, and he could not have done better himself! We had the nacho appetizer which was different than what we are accustomed to; however, delicious with the right amount of ingredients and taste. No problem, Rosa sets up another spot at the table. Even before we order, a 6th shows up. Without blinking, Rosa moves us to a (better) 6 person table.
We went to celebrate a colleague's recent promotion and the restaurant gave us a special appetizer on the house. Its a small thing, sure, but a wonderful gesture.
The manager visits our table to make sure we're having a good time & all of the staff really make us feel at home and special at Rosa.

The Mexican food was indeed Mexican and not a mix of Tex-Mex. The food was delicious and the servings were of the appropriate size. It's a little pricey for Mexican fare but its so much fun I don't even mind the prices. My most recent visit was for brunch and it was great! We got french toast which was topped with crispy sweet plantains and they were so good. We also got the carnitas hash with fried eggs on top and it was great...slightly salty with shredded potatoes and onions mixed in and the runny eggs on top brought it all together. I highly recommend it. My husband isn't big on guacamole. But we devoured the guacamole made table side - it had just the right balance of flavors. My husband had the Carnitas Huevos at the recommendation of our server and raved about them. I enjoyed the Beef Mole enchiladas and was thrilled with the flavor of the mole. Our daughter enjoyed the couch chicken nachos (appetizer) as her meal and it was for than plenty for her. But we decided to try it anyway. What a great choice! Being made table-side, it was very fresh -- we ate almost all of it! One tip, though. Some of the pieces were a bit large (too big to be picked up by the chips) so you have to use your fork and smash them down a bit. But the flavor was worth it. The margaritas, however, were pretty small. Good but small. The service was stellar, unfortunately, I can't remember the woman's name. We had the guacamole, which you don't want to miss. The table side preparation means it's fresh and they modified it a bit because of my low sodium diet. I had the carne asada which was fabulous! Served with their black beans and rice it was amazing. My sister had the chicken similarly prepared and said it was great too and it must have been since I wasn't offered a bite. We always go to Rosa Mexicano when she's in town. It's fun, the house marguerita is great and the food excellent. We had a great time. Despite the crowds, we were seated fairly promptly. The guacamole served tableside was wonderful as usual and our meals were very good. Nice atmosphere, since it is right across from Verizon Center in downtown DC. We went there right after the Washington Capitals beat the NY Rangers in a playoff game. So great location to go to after a game and let traffic die down.
Everyone was very friendly. Energy in the restaurant. Very nice bar area, and plenty of tables for the dinner crowd.

Also, the presentation of the salsa was poor and we had to ask for plates to eat the chips and salsa on. My Short Rib Entree was fabulous though - meat was so tender!
