A word from Rosa Mexicano - Union Square
Just blocks away from Manhattan’s lively Union Square, our third New York location provides a warm and vibrant setting for our award-winning authentic Mexican cuisine. Designed by David Rockwell, the restaurant features architectural accents inspired by the late, famed Mexican architect, Luis Barragan. The internally illuminated electric-blue tiled water wall features cliff diver figurines and candles among the cascading water to separate the bar from the main dining room. Warm terracotta and yellow colors with hot pink accents are featured throughout the restaurant as well as traditional, one-of-a-kind Mexican crafts, fabrics and artwork. This combination creates the perfect backdrop for the festive atmosphere and innovative Mexican cuisine of Rosa Mexicano. Continued

  • "Attentive staff but not annoying. Good food and great cocktails."

  • "Great service, unique flavors, now one of our Must Go spots in NYC!"

  • "The guacamole is their hero product and pretty delicious albeit the price tag is a touch inflated. The tacos for their taco and tequilla special were really amazing, I had a few as appetizers which may have set the bar too high for the entrees as I was underwhelmed. The chile relleno and steak taco entrees were good, just not great. Chile Mango marg is highly recommended."

  • "If you order nothing else, the Guacamole made in front of you is why you go to Rosa Mexicano. Don't miss it."

  • "Rosa Mexicano is a great place for the tex mex type of cuisine. Its large and slightly noisy but works well for office gatherings and not for intimate moments. The guacamole was lip smacking good. The service was a sbit slow but it was a busy night. Works as a great meeting place, well located."

  • "That's how we feel when I treat my family to dinner there. The waitstaff is personable, attentive and helpful, the food is always delicious and the atmosphere is festive. The changing menu keeps things fresh and exciting. We have never ordered a drink or dish that we didn't love and want to share. We also have a member of our party with severe food allergies, and this is one of the few restaurants that is knowledgeable about serving safe food so we can all relax and enjoy a good time. This is where I always arrange to meet our daughters for a family meal in the city, and it's always a hit."

  • "I was blown away by this place! The waiter was very helpful and gave people in my group lots of good suggestions on what to order. We got the famous table-side quacamole and we were very impressed. The restaurant has just the right noise level. The pomegranate margarita was to die for! And the churros on the dessert menu were out of this world. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant. Best nachos of my life!"

  • "A must eat place every time I'm in NY. The table made guac is so good I want to lick the bowl! Interesting ways of preparing tacos and burritos. Every dish is delicious."

  • "It was my husbands birthday and everyone had a great time. Service was excellent...as well as food. It's the restaurant I always take all friends & family's if they want Mexican food. I highly recommend the Union Square Rosa Mexicano...it's fun...lively...excellent food & Great service."

  • "They have a separate gluten free menu that I've eaten off of twice with no adverse effects. The regular menu is also great I am told. The tables are well spaced and staff is friendly. Both lunch and dinner were enjoyable. The bar scene at dinner time on a Thursday around 6:30p was lively with an afterwork crowd."

  • "This meal was fantastic! I've been a fan of Rosa Mexicano for a few years now. As usual, the guacamole was outstanding and the best I ever had. For the first time, I tried the queso with chorizo. I really loved this dish. Instead of having some sort of cheese sauce, the dish was truly shredded cheeses melted and crisp on a skillet. The chorizo was on top. The only advice I have for this dish is to make the pieces of chorizo larger. It didn't do anything for me to have it ground up. The Tablones are by far my favorite dish and the plantains were incredible and sweet. To finish of the meal, the Mexican Churros were outstanding. This meal was the perfect thing I needed to finish off my incredible weekend."

  • "We had a great time there. It was my last meal in NYC and it could not have been better. We all had different dishes and the table side guac and everyone had to eat a bit of everyone else's food. I'll miss a lot about NYC, but I'll miss Rosa Mexicano the most."

  • "i was recently at the restaurant at peak dinner hour (which i usually avoid because of the volume), and was again blown away by the artistry of the food. this night it was the chile poblano Relleno, which had none of the gooey cheesiness often relied upon by restaurants, instead the chile was stuffed with a lovely vegetable combination with a small amount of brown rice and goat cheese, just enough to hold together and complement the chile. both sauces that were under the chile were wonderful and each was different. together with what must be the best black beans in new york, this dish was a dream."

  • "Having just left Dos Caminos in Soho because our waitress was so bad, we were overjoyed to find a welcome at Rosa Mexicano with one of the best servers I have experienced The Margaritas perfect, the Guacamole to die for, The Pollo Pibil was beyond exquisite The decor magnificent"

  • "The food was great. The guacamole was made right in front of us and was the freshest and most delicious guac we've ever had. Sangria was also delicious. Expensive but worth the money. "

  • "The Rosa Mexicano at union square is awesome, we were a group of three out for a birthday celebration. The food was delicious and beautifully plated. Would recommend for a fun night out. "

  • "Went here on a date this weekend and had an amazing time. The food was absolutely delicious and the waiter was so friendly and helpful. The only disappointing thing was that the $14 guacamole appetizer only included 1 avocado. That seemed a little outrageous. Other than that I think everything was well priced. I highly recommend the Busin de Pollo. It was described as a "Mexican lasagna" and it pretty much was. "

  • "I had a good night out with amazing food and sub par service. My waiter barely spoke to us. He spent most of his time with his coworkers and forgot my drink and brought it at the end of my meal."

  • "Fabulous food and a spacious location! Not so stuffy as the Lincoln Center location. This incarnation is still a "nice restaurant," but has a warm, upbeat feeling. Delicious food, excellent cocktails."

  • "Best Guac in NYC.. Service was spot on. An overall pleasant experience. I wish they would bottle the Green sauce they bring with the chips! I could drink it!"

  • "Despite the fact that Rosa Mexicano has grown into a chain of restaurants, you will not feel like they are skimping on anything to please the masses. All of the food- from the hand-made guac to dessert is all freshly prepared. Flavors are bold and vibrant. Where there is heat, it enhances the the dish and not there for the sake of a burning pleasure. We had reservations on Cinco de Mayo and were seated promptly despite they were packed as expected. My only complaint- the Mariachi band seemed to be there for less than 1/2 hour and then they switched to a DJ and loud club music! This was before 7 pm on a Monday. The food is fairly authentic and would have liked the music to be as well, especially on their national holiday."

  • "guacamole was a bit too salty, and the waitress asked for it to be made again with less salt within minutes! she was so sweet and accommodating! got the scallop porkbelly tacos which was really good!!! friend got the braised short ribs. HUGE portion we had to take half of it to go. so yummmy!! it's always loud and energetic in here but thats the kind of ambience."

  • "Upon entering, your eye is immediately drawn up to the high ceilings and vibrant colors of the restaurant. It is a lively place with everyone talking and seeming to have a great time enjoying the food and company. The two back private rooms had skylights that hopefully next time I can be in one of them. My waiter was attentive as was the server and guacamole chef. Everything that we ordered (two of us) was delicious and we shared. Next time I need to bring a bigger party so I can try other dishes. Loved everything, the food, service and especially the decor."

  • "We went to celebrate Mother's Day eve last Saturday night. The staff was so hospitable and courteous. We sat 5 in a booth by the beautiful blue mosaic wall even though it seats 4 comfortably because we wanted a nice view. The food was very tasty and we frequent Mexican restaurants so we know good Mexican food. The only thing is that they don't give free chips and salsa. This is usually in customary in all of the others. Drinks was awesome. "

  • "Great fun for Cinco de Mayo ... Marachi band rocked and although quite busy the service was A+. Food was so good. Drop in they are celebrating all week !!"

  • "Fun celebratory evening dinner for Cinco de Mayo !! Staff kept everything moving along, and service was great considering the huge crowds. Food was very good, but I feel that the food was more rushed in it's preparation than usual. Bar kept the drinks flowing on this very energetic night at Rosa Mexicano."

  • "...and you won't be disappointed! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu and there's something there for everyone. I absolutely love this restaurant and can't bring myself to go anywhere else to satisfy my cravings for upscale Mexican cuisine!"

  • "The food here really is delicious as are their drinks and they do have a nice wine list as well. I suggest going here with a group of friends or family gathering as its huge and loud and is really not meant for a romantic dinner for 2. Its definitely not your cozy and quiet neighborhood place but the food is amazing so definitely check it out. What was a bit annoying as well is that we had a reservation but still had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated but then again it was a Saturday night and that area is always busy so thats to be expected."
    Dined on 5/3/2014
  • "Entire restaurant was packed with people, the noise level was high but that's Saturday night in a popular city restaurant. Considering the amount of people the service was quite good. The food was not up to par; it lacked flavor. I've been to Rosa Mexicana previously and the food was far better. Disappointed that they would present two of the same salmon dishes with one person receiving a lovely center cut piece and the other a flat end. That's not attention to detail. "

  • "The margaritas were excellent but the food was disappointing. The chicken tacos I ordered were filled with shredded chicken that was bland and tasteless and accompanied by a spicy sauce that did not add any value to the dish. My guest ordered enchiladas that were smothered in a salsa verde that was excessively citrusy and lacking in any other flavour. Overall a disappointment, especially given the prices."

  • "It's the third time at Rosa Mexicano, but the first at this location, Union Square. I have to say that I prefer the Lincoln Center location. The main course was not really good, but the Nachos (appetizer) are amazing! I like the environment and the ambience. Service was good. I expected a little bit more, but I still like the place a lot."
