We had a reservation for 5pm but since the Twins game got over early ( yes, they won!), we went to the restaurant early and they had no trouble getting us in. The appetizer we order was awesome, so were the drinks and our dinners were sized right and we still brought a little home with us. Very cool atmosphere. Our waiter was very helpful and attended to all our needs. We will come back!"

  • "This was my wife's and I first visit to Rosa Mexicano and she wanted to go back the next night with our 3 children and 2 son-in-laws. She and I both loved the food but the service was extraordinary. The chef came to our table to wish us a happy anniversary (as did the hostess and manager) and the chef brought us a fantastic appetizer. The waiter was attentive but not overbearing and did his job superbly. The food was great, the best Mexican food we have found in MN. After living in Southern CA for 8 years it has been difficult to find authentic Mexican food in the Twin Cities. The ambiance was very nice and we enjoyed sitting by the fountain. Thank you for an enjoyable evening and we will certainly be back!"

  • "We dined there last week. We love Mexican food so were eager to eat there. We shared appetizers and had drinks. The food tasted good--just good, not excellent. The disappointment was in the cost. $14 for a quesadilla. 4 pieces, only a few peppers. We added steak for $8 more. 2 pieces had no steak at all, the other two had two bite sized pieces. The chicken empanadas were very good. Margaritas were also good--but you can't get happy hour prices in the restaurant so they are $10 each versus $5 in the bar. We won't be back. There are too many other places to go for good Mexican food and drinks."

  • "I've been to rosa's before and was craving fresh guacamole, after very long week so this was fun. Even though our adventure started off a little uneasy. We tried walk in, but the hostess informed us there would not be any tables available til eight and it was five. We went on open table and booked the next reservation. It just seemed like their.hostess was willing to let.customers walk out the door, she never told us there was open seating in the bar. Overall our waiter and guacamole specialist were super fun, so it made up for the not having a reservation thanks open table."

  • "The food was OK to good but not a good value. I don't mind spending $25 on a really good lunch but this was not THAT good so I don't know that I will return. The table guacamole was tastey but a little on the salty side. The wait staff was nice and attentive and I like that there is adequate space between tables. It was not very crowded. I bet if the food was a better value, they would pack the house. There aren't that many good lunch places in downtown Minneapolis where one can sit and enjoy a leisurely lunch so if they increased the value ratio, it would be a hit."

The Baja tacos were tasty, I wish I had noticed that the fresh was fried rather than broiled. The table side guacamole is outstanding. Made table side and the heat can be adjusted."

  • "This was the first visit for all 3 of us. The chips were good and table side guacamole was amazing. The man that made the guacamole table side was also fabulous. Everything else, not good and way overpriced. The sangria tasted like juice. The margaritas were fine, actually on the strong end. The rest of the food, apps and main course, not good. Actually poor. The service (other than the really good guac man) was not great. Waitress got snippy and slow at end...usually near tip time they are extra nice. For three light eaters we paid $180. None of us will be back."

  • "First visit to this restaurant . Perfect location for pre show dinner if you are attending event at any if the theaters in hennepin. Beautiful dining area with central water fountain and large separate bar area so dining room is relatively quiet. Service was friendly and attentive. We shared mahi mahi tacos and skewered shrimp, which were both beautifully prepared and presented. Everything tastes very fresh and well seasoned. The mahi mahi was moist and not greasy and the slaw was just the right compliment. The skewerd shrimp were served with brown rice, and a perfectly spicy ( not Minnesota spicy) sauce. would definitely return to try more of the menu . Serviced was well paced, so we were not rushed to get to the theater."

  • "My wife and I have always loved rosa. This past trip wasn't as good. First, our friend ordered her drink without salt and they brought it with salt anyway. We also ordered several dishes without cilantro and we got them with cilantro anyway. When we requested a new dish the server met us with some attitude. When we received a second dish that appeared to have cilantro and asked if it did they took the dish away. The server came back with the replacement dish explaining it didn't actually have cilantro in it but because we questioned it they "had to make us a new one anyway." It would have been nice if they would have just said "no that's not cilantro"... And we could have left it at that. Not a huge deal, just a bit awkward multiple times."

  • "I've eaten at Rosa in New York and Washington D.C., and finally made it to their Minneapolis location. This place is huge, but it's very interesting and comfortable. Service was outstanding and included some helpful suggestions. The guacamole is made table-side and shouldn't be missed. There menu offers a lot of choices, but avoids the ridiculously endless list of combinations found in so many Mexican restaurants. The food is very good, and obviously built around fresh and high-quality ingredients. I will make a point to go back at least once a quarter. They really do a very nice job across the board."

  • "Our table was stuck in the back and basically forgotten. Food was good, but our drinks ran out and the wait for our food was unacceptable. When we complained to the manager on duty, he was not helpful, giving me his card and apologizing saying he would love to make it up to us next time with guacamole or drinks and then added that he might not be there since he is only there for another month."

  • "Dined here for the first time during restaurant week. The guacamole was wonderful and I enjoyed that it was made to order at the table. I didn't like that the margaritas were 1/2 the price during happy hour in the Bar Only -- we had to walk to the bar to get a drink at half the price instead of having happy hour prices apply to diners as well as bar goers. I thought that was a bit ridiculous to be honest and probably won't ever buy alcohol with a meal there for that reason - its more cost effective to get your drinks yourself at the bar and walk back to your table, which is disappointing for the servers since their tip would be lower overall on the total bill since no beverage costs would be applied to the dining bill."

  • "I have been here a few times before and have had great experiences, but I will not be returning after the evening I experienced this weekend. I brought a group of 8 people for a special occasion and could NOT believe how incredibly rude our server was. Completely ignored our table to the point of where one member of our party actually got up to get a water pitcher for our table herself. It took an hour for him to bring a drink for the guest of honor that was ordered right away when we got there. He was incredibly clueless about the menu, not able to answer any of our questions. This lead to orders being returned since he did not explain them correctly. I'm completely embarrassed I brought my friends to this place and will not be returning."

  • "While the food was actually pretty good, it was so over priced that I wouldn't go back. It wasn't THAT good and got certainly didn't get big portions. However, the salsa was excellent. We also had now poor, slow service. It was a Saturday night and our waiter kept forgetting things. Overall just wasn't really impressed. It did remind us of what we lived about our neighborhood Mexican restaurant."

  • "we went out on a Sun night, the restaurant was basically empty (but it may have been a result of the weather). we had a great time - food was really good, server was great, and we loved the guac cart...but it is SOOO expensive! the flan was the best i have ever had - and my leftovers were even better the next day. it will be a while before we head back, but only because it is so expensive. we each had dinner (3 course Restaurant Week special) and 1 margarita and the tab was $88 (before tip). I have heard that they have a good haappy hour, maybe that is worth looking into."

  • "We went to Rosa Mexicano in downtown Mpls for a nice romantic dinner, and were not disappointed. The ambience is lovely, with all the flowing water, nice lighting, and the cool cliff divers kinetic sculpture in the middle. The food was upscale Mexician, which isn't that easy to find. I am vegetarian and had a great chili relleno dish. A little pricy, but worth it."
