A word from Rosa Mexicano - Lincoln Center
Our highly anticipated second Rosa Mexicano location opened in July 2000. Just steps away from Lincoln Center, this impressive David Rockwell-designed space features a 30-foot iridescent blue tile water wall that spans both levels of the restaurant and is adorned with 240 miniature cliff divers. Here you’ll also find a dramatic “floating” staircase made of orange and red terrazzo slabs and backlit panels behind the bar embedded with rose petals. Awarded “Best Restaurant 2000” by Interiors Magazine, this unique, contemporary look ushered in a new era for us at Rosa Mexicano.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "the food and service was amazing. Would highly recommend"

  • "We found a hair in our enchiladas. Everything was mediocre. Kind of gross, actually. The steak was fatty and undercooked. The creamy vegetables it came with tasted like airplane food. I remembered this place once being good... feels like it went seriously downhill."

  • "Upscale, Mexican food made with fresh ingredients. Attentive service. Happy, vibrant decor."

  • "I have been to Rosa Mexicano many times. It is one of my favorite restaurants. The guacamole is a must have. They make it right next to your table so you know it's fresh. I tried the fish tacos for the first time and they were delicious. They give you 3 very large portions so you are very satisfied. I think that will be my standard order when I return."

  • "A friend and I enjoyed dinner here during Restaurant Week. Rosa Mexicano's menu was heavy on standards: homemade guacamole, budin/chicken tortilla pie, pomegranate margaritas. The only quibble might be that, on a busy Friday seated outdoors, there's no room for the kind of tableside guac preparation experienced on other visits. Other than that, excellent food and good service."

  • "The salmon such appetizer we ultra skimpy. the beet/chevre salad was OK buy not enough chèvre, the Bronzino was very good, salmon was fine but skimpy and the deserts were ok except the iced cream creation was very good. Overall I would say that the food was pricey and the sushi was markedly over-priced, as if they were giving away the family jewels."

  • " The food was just ok, nothing exceptional as in years past. Overall very disappointing to say the least."

  • "From the moment of entry until departure, my group of 5 thought this was magnificent - reception, main server & team were great and extremely helpful. Incredible appetizer and food. Highly recommend - at least the property near the Lincoln Center."

  • "Usually love this place, but service was missing and food was just ok. They seem to be overwhelmed by large parties and coasting on reputation and location."

  • "I just celebrated my 60th birthday this week and had a group of 20 people with me. I've been there many times but was a little anxious about the size of our group. But the service was excellent, our waiter Anthony was friendly and amazing. The food was delicious, as always And we all had an incredible time. Best Guacamole in NYC and, of course, you cannot miss the Pomegranate Margarita!!"

  • "Creative tasty Mexican food , never disappoints . Perfect location if you are going to Lincoln center"

  • "While the ambiance was great and service was o.k., the food was terrible and the prices were too high. My girlfriend and I ordered two $13 margaritas and they came in a medium size glass, totally full of ice to the top and a small amount of liquor. No chips and salsa is served or anything to start you off, as in all restaurants. It was early and none of us were very hungry, so we ordered two tortilla soups and a entry and the bill was $76.00+. The restaurant lays on it's laurels that is close to Lincoln Center, which is too bad because the people that frequent Lincoln Center also like to eat well."

  • "I attended a dinner with a group of 8 people Tuesday and to say we left annoyed with the quality of the service and food would be an understatement. We were seated about 25 minutes after our reservation time, even though we arrived early, so total wait time was about 45 minutes, then we were led to the upstairs seating area which was about 15 degrees warmer than the downstairs area. After waiting about 20 minutes for the waiter to come back to take our orders, he promptly took our order for guac and ran off before we were able to provide him with drink and meal selections, even though we were ready. Our 7:30 dinner reservation resulted in our actual entrees being served at 9:10 and we waited almost 30min for a check, had to flag a bus boy."

  • "Ceviche with extra vegetables, enchiladas with a special sauce....delicious and delightful"

  • "I love Rosa Mexicano... I particularly favor the one in the Lincoln Center neighborhood -- considering its competition, and stiff prices elesewhere, Rosa is a haven for attentive and warm service, excellent food at reasonable prices - guacamole at your table, yummy tortilla soup as typical on the menu, and a fine wine list. Most importantly, to me, as a 'semi-regular' the restaurant is generous to its patrons, to wit: I have received free desserts (Tuesday, the churros were delicious!); salsa shipped to my home, and a generous discount if I celebrate my birthday with them, which I did last year with several friends. It is also the favorite watering hole for my NYCB dancer friends"

  • "The guacamole was outstanding and made at the table! The margaritas and enchilada's were really great! The only downside is that it is quite noisy, so I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for an intimate special occasion. I also wished that the had the blinds open, so we could look it at Lincoln center."

  • "Very good all around as usual. Especially good in summer when you can eat outside and convenient if going to Lincoln Center for a performance."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "Rosa Mexicano was a great choice for lunch. The pomegranate margarita was wonderful. The freshly made guacamole was so delicious and the ceviche was very fresh and tasty. The sauce on the enchilada was the best part of the whole meal."

  • "The best place for pre-theatre dinner when going to a performance at Lincoln Center. The table-side preparation of guacamole is a show in itself."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "Great and quick service for theater crowd. Food is decent and cocktail is great. Kids friendly and good atmosphere"

  • "We've been going to Rosa Mexicana for 30 years - its great that their food quality has remained wonderful.. THIS is good Mexican food!"

  • "We've been Rosa Mexicano regulars for many years, and they've remained pretty steady in terms of pleasant dining and service. We go pretty much for the exceptional margaritas and guacamole. We've hosted a few groups of six this past year and everyone's enjoyed themselves."

  • "If you don't mind other diners who are unconcerned about proposing loud "toasts" or just shrieking with delight in a (very) crowded restaurant, Rosa Mexicano has interesting decor, attentive service, that table-side prepared guacamole and good Mexican food. The wall beside the long staircase leading upstairs was decorated with about a thousand little diver dolls plumetting from the cliffs of the second floor on a wall with cascading water. My kids & I loved it. The windows offered a view of the Lincoln Center neighborhood, a plus for us touristas. The food was good, the service was excellent & this large place was packed on a Thursday night. Not the place to bring your grandparents, but my 11 & 14 year old daughters enjoyed everything."

  • "I love this restaurant. The food is delicious. Best guacamole and margaritas anywhere. Great for large groups and celebrations."

  • "Four of us met after work and before a show at Lincoln Center and the food and service were great. I had the chili rellanos which was delicious with a red and green sauce and it wasn't just stuffed with the usual cheese. We also had the fish tacos- delicious, the mahi mahi and the salmon. There was nothing left on anyone's plate. We had time for a delicious dessert and comfortably made it to the show. Our server asked when we sat down if we were going to a show and paced the meal accordingly. Overall, I highly recommend Rosa."

  • "With a gluten allergy, I am always hesitate on dining out. My experience at Rosa Mexicano was absolutely wonderful. They served me a gluten-free dish, and it was delicious. The atmosphere is very welcoming. I would highly recommend."

  • "This is the first time we ate at Rosa Mexicana, but it won't be our last. The restaurant has a warm atmosphere, the staff friendly, and the service excellent. The Mexican menu is extensive and the food very good! The only concern is that in order to use an elevator to reach the restroom without climbing a flight of stairs is to go outside and be escorted by a very polite staff member to a separate building around the corner. Other than that, the entire experience was way above average. We will return."

  • "We dined at Rosa Mexicano on a busy Saturday night, with visiting family. Great location near Lincoln Center and a lot of capacity inside helps with the large groups of people we saw. The table-side guacamole was delicious and made efficiently and quickly. Servers were attentive, but not overbearing. Ambiance is lively and fun. We are vegetarian, so there are not a lot of entree choices, but the entrees we chose were delicious. Whether you are visiting NYC, hosting visitors, or just out for an enjoyable dinner, you cannot go wrong with a visit to Rosa Mexicano."

  • "Purchased a Gilt City deal - $60 for a prix fixe menu. Received Guacamole, Mahi Mahi apps to share, your choice of 'type' of taco entree (includes 3 tacos) as well as churros with chocolate. Choice of single margarita (choose your tequila) or a tasting flight of 3 tequilas. We were stuffed. Plenty of delicious food, and spot on drinks. Ended up getting an extra margarita each. Carnitas tacos with plantains were delicious. They're famous for their guacamole and it was no wonder. Nice, easy, beautiful summer-night dinner."

  • "Even amidst a bustling atmosphere, we were seated on time. Service was fantastic and attentive. The guacamole was out of this world. Food was served promptly and was excellent overall."

  • "The guacamole is terrific - one order is large enough for two. The shrimp were fine; the chicken taco tasted like it was cooked a while ago and warmed over. Staff did respond to complaint."

  • "RM is a reliable staple near Lincoln Center. The ambiance and service are average but the food is really good (especially for a chain). Thy have creamy and taasty guacamole. My favorite dish is the mahi mahi tacos which is tuna cevice in hard shells. I recently discovered a shrimp with beans and brown rice dish that is really good too. Fresh shrimps grilled and served with a roasted pepper sauce."

  • "My wife and I had yet another wonderful experience at Rosa Mexicano. This time was for our 10th wedding anniversary. As always we enjoyed their pomegranate margaritas along with their stellar cuisine. A highly recommended restaurant."

  • "The food & service at Rosa Mexicano- Lincoln Center was outstanding! This was my first dining experience at an authentic Mexican restaurant in years, unless you count Taco Bell. We decided to dine here before a recent show at Lincoln Center and were not disappointed. Our meal started with a fantastic bowl of table side guacamole and chips; we also tried the Empanadas which were out of this world. Our main course was the “Tampiguena de Carne Asada” skirt steak marinated in guajillo chile and tequila, with added shrimp. The dish was fresh and flavorful beyond our expectations. The service was also outstanding, our drinks were never empty! If you are ever going to a show at Lincoln Center, come a little early and try this wonderful spot."

  • "I have been here quite a lot because it is so convenient to Lincoln Center. I find it to be the most reasonably priced restaurant in the area with good food. The guacamole is excellent and comes in 3 levels of heat; I recommend the medium. The chile relleno is not the best I ever had, but is still very, very good. Excellent tamales. The entrée comes with refried beans and rice, and you will be stuffed. There is occasionally only one hostess, so you might have to wait five or six minutes to get seated. Reservations are suggested before and after performances in Lincoln Center because it attracts a crowd. The service is fine, especially the bus crew, which keeps your glasses full and dips on the table. I highly recommend."

  • "The food at this location of Rosa is always good. The table-side prep of guacamole is always a nice touch. This location is a little more dramatic than the other two in the city, what with the 2-story art installation in the middle of the restaurant. It's also a little more touristy and hectic. Which explains why the service can be a bit distracted."
