A word from Rosa Mexicano - Lincoln Center
Our highly anticipated second Rosa Mexicano location opened in July 2000. Just steps away from Lincoln Center, this impressive David Rockwell-designed space features a 30-foot iridescent blue tile water wall that spans both levels of the restaurant and is adorned with 240 miniature cliff divers. Here you’ll also find a dramatic “floating” staircase made of orange and red terrazzo slabs and backlit panels behind the bar embedded with rose petals. Awarded “Best Restaurant 2000” by Interiors Magazine, this unique, contemporary look ushered in a new era for us at Rosa Mexicano.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The food & service at Rosa Mexicano- Lincoln Center was outstanding! This was my first dining experience at an authentic Mexican restaurant in years, unless you count Taco Bell. We decided to dine here before a recent show at Lincoln Center and were not disappointed. Our meal started with a fantastic bowl of table side guacamole and chips; we also tried the Empanadas which were out of this world. Our main course was the “Tampiguena de Carne Asada” skirt steak marinated in guajillo chile and tequila, with added shrimp. The dish was fresh and flavorful beyond our expectations. The service was also outstanding, our drinks were never empty! If you are ever going to a show at Lincoln Center, come a little early and try this wonderful spot."

  • "This place tries to be as an upscale dining experience but it is not. The massive space has no intimacy and feels like a 3* hotel cafeteria. There is no intimacy and no ambient light or decor to set the mood. The food is decent but not authentic nor innovative or sophisticated. The service was forgettable and the pricing was not reflected in the quality of the food or the overall experience."

  • "I have been here quite a lot because it is so convenient to Lincoln Center. I find it to be the most reasonably priced restaurant in the area with good food. The guacamole is excellent and comes in 3 levels of heat; I recommend the medium. The chile relleno is not the best I ever had, but is still very, very good. Excellent tamales. The entrée comes with refried beans and rice, and you will be stuffed. There is occasionally only one hostess, so you might have to wait five or six minutes to get seated. Reservations are suggested before and after performances in Lincoln Center because it attracts a crowd. The service is fine, especially the bus crew, which keeps your glasses full and dips on the table. I highly recommend."

  • "Great ambiance, great service, wonderful location. The food is neither tex-mex nor authentic Mexican except for the Guacamole, which was wonderfully prepared fresh in front of our table, but just a bit too salty. The presentations were nice, the food fresh, but the sauces were missing something, overall, not quite the flavors you expect. My family still enjoyed ourselves, but we prefer more classic Mexican flavors even in an upscale place like Rosa Mexicano."

  • "Great dinner here with our teenage kids. They make the guacamole in front of you and it is the best ever. Always busy and yummy food."

  • "The food was very good. Not your usual Mexican fare. The prices were a bit high but that's typical of New York. The service was attentive and personable. I'd recommend to friends."

  • "The food at this location of Rosa is always good. The table-side prep of guacamole is always a nice touch. This location is a little more dramatic than the other two in the city, what with the 2-story art installation in the middle of the restaurant. It's also a little more touristy and hectic. Which explains why the service can be a bit distracted."

  • "Amongst the many Mexican restaurants in New York, this one stands out"

  • "I have had a couple of mediocre experiences at Rosa's in the past few months, but this lunch was back up to par. The food is always good, which is why I go so much, but the service can be spotty. It is very frustrating when you are paying top dollar to have to try and hunt down a waiter for service. That was not the case this time. Maybe going for lunch is the key. The food at lunch was wonderful as it always is, but the service was wonderful as well. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and got the order right. I will be back for sure, but hopefully my next dinner will be as successful in terms of service as this lunch."

  • "Outstanding restaurant. Great ambiance. Staff was very accomodating. Guacamole made table side ... Delicious! Definitely will return again."

  • "Erratic service we had to cancel dessert after bill had arrived Rosa Mexicano may become a victim of it's own success"

  • "The quacomole at tableside and the margaritas are so delicious. We savoured them before ordering our entree. The poblano rellano was huge and the fish tacos was so crispy beer battered fried. The flan was so creamy. Loved all the flavors of the food and the accompanying sauces. Wait staff was very attentive and quick, yet unobtrusive."

  • "Very good food and fairly reasonable. We spent about $100 all in for two entrees, appetizer and 3 drinks."

  • "My spouse & I dine at Rosa Mexiano every time we are in NYC. The food & service are consistently reliable. We have never had a bad experience there."

  • "The food was wonderful but the service was slow. It took a while to get our drink order and had to ask for extra jalapeños three times. It was busy but my husband and I were disappointed."

  • "Had reservation, no wait. This was a weekday night.. Crowded bar hard to get in the door. Exceptionally noisy, got worse as evening went on...to deafening. Indifferent service, long wait for main course of chicken taco. Dry, overcooked small strips, cheese glued to plate, flavorless. Signature guacamole was good. Friend ordered vegetarian taco...better. Took forever for dishes to come...for bill to arrive and pay by 9:30! Looked like a sorority/fraternity / college weekend event when we finally left. Hard to get out the door. Disappointing"

  • "We had lunch here before attending a matinee performance at Lincoln Center. The lunch was excellent - I had the fish tacos and my husband had the pork tacos, and they were some of the best we've had. Service was efficient, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the meal and make it to the performance on time. This was our second visit and it was very consistent with our experience the first time."

  • "The birthday boy was told that sleeveless was against dining room policy. With his mother's sweater, we were seated. Thank you. Diner went on, but we didnt see our waiter for 25 minutes after our plates were cleared . We frequent the 1st ave location and menu. Long story, short, you aren't 1st Avenue."

  • "Great freshly made guacamole. Nice ambiance, spacing of tables. It took awhile to get our food, but the wait was worth it. Definitely a couple of cuts above regular mexican cuisine. Especially starting with the guacamole."

  • "This used to be an amazing place for dinner -- But stick to the pomegranate margaritas and guac. Food was not great, overcooked, Classic mexican favorites not well presented or spiced. Stick to the bar -- it will give you all you need."

  • "After having been here before years ago for a mediocre meal I decided to give it a try again with my teenaged son for a pre Lincoln Center dinner. Food mediocre at best (my son had enchiladas, I the Mahi Mahi) with their "award winning" guacamole as our only app. With 1 glass of wine, very average meal and a single app I make at home once a week (guacamole is as easy as boiling eggs) and no dessert or coffee, the bill , with tip, was a little over $100!!! Really disappointing... Wish there were some better options around Lincoln Center!"

  • "The food is good (not great), but the guac/margaritas never disappoint. Worth coming to even just for a catch-up w friends over guac/drinks - sit outdoors on a nice day."

  • "Located across the street from Lincoln Center, it's the perfect place to grab dinner before a show! The food is great and you can't pass up the homemade sangria!!"

  • "We had a very late lunch at 3:30. The restaurant wasn't crowded, so we sat outside. The wait staff was nice enough, but either over-worked or not clued in. The food, as always, was very good. But the service was slow and uninterested, it seemed. Odd, since the place wasn't real busy. And the order took very long to come. Not up to the expectations of RM."

  • "This is a favorite spot and this time we booked for after the performance of Alvin Ailey at Lincoln Center. It was late, but still a hopping place. We thoroughly enjoyed our margheritas and guacamole along with a few other small plates. This is a great place with cheerful staff for before the theater, after the theater, or any old time."

  • "Had tickets to see Alvin Ailey at Lincoln Center. The first thing they asked is if we had theater tickets and they were very mindful of that. Food was just delicious and the waiter was attentive. Managed to snag a coveted seat outside. Great spot for a pre-show dinner."

  • "Just too my three daughters (17-22 yrs) into the city for a couple of days. I let them use open table to pick a "nice restaurant for our last night". I didn't even ask until we were walking, and was pleasantly surprised when they picked Rosa Mexicano. I was pleased that they were able to use the site to find a great location in the city, with excellent food and a super location near Lincoln Center. I have been to the restaurant three times before for both business and pleasure and was not disappointed on the fourth. Will go back again."

  • "We have eaten here pre Opera on several occasions and thought it was great but we were disappointed when we went after an ABT program. Perhaps all the good food is gone by 10:15 PM, or the cooks are getting tired."

  • "My friend and I had a lovely lunch at Rosa Mexicana. We got off to a slow start: friend caught in traffic, but they were willing to seat me right away - something I'm always appreciative of in NYC! Fast, friendly service. Gacamole made at the table - delicious! Short rib enchiladas are amazing! The only complaint I have about that guacamole cart - it takes up the aisle between tables. Several parties had to climb over my table in order to get to their seats while the poor guy making guacamole was trying to work and keep guacamole off their backs. Not sure there's a great solution here without changing the table side service to a service "close by to the table" or re-arranging the furniture. I will ask to sit in another area next time."

  • "This is my go-to restaurant in the Lincoln Center area. The service is outstanding, as is the food. Earlier this week I was there with a friend simply for guacamole and an appetizer (for a main course) before heading off to a performance, and we were accorded the same gracious service and solicitude as if we were ordering a full dinner with coffee and dessert (which I often do at other times). When the restaurant is full it becomes a lively "fun" spot, but when I ask for a quiet table in the corner, somehow they manage to accommodate me. I highly recommend it."

  • "The food was great, which was expected, but the nice surprise was the outstanding service! Excellent waiter with good support team for food-running and table-clearing. We were concerned brunch at prime time would be delayed service, but it was the opposite. Highly recommend it!"

  • "Rosa Mexicano is always amazing. This was my first time going to the Lincoln Center location, and it was excellent. It is perfect for big dinner parties. The food is always delicious and the pomegranate margaritas were wonderful! Lots of energy and the staff is great! I have never been disappointed by any Rosa Mexicano."
