Rosa Mexicano - Chevy ChaseMole SauceI went there because it is hard to find good Mole sauce in the NE. It is a nice place, but not nearly what the original restaurant in New York in the 80's was. One thing I would like to say is that our server "Rus" was extremely good and made the experience that much better.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen we asked our waiter aboutWhen we asked our waiter about how a dish was prepared, he didn't know. Instead of fobbing us off, he brought out the chef to answer our question. The chef was friendly and helpful, answered all our questions. We loved the service and attention and will definitely return.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMService was excellent. TableService was excellent. Table side guacamole is a must, and the white wine sangria is perfect for the summer.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGilt CityThis was a Gilt City deal and it was amazing. We had 3 courses, including two margarita tasters and a pitcher of sangria. Guc and chips to commence, entree's and desserts. Overall this was a very good deal, and I would purchase it again.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe entire experience wasThe entire experience was great until the host seating a family directly next to us when most of the restaurant was not full. The family had young children that were screaming and yelling constantly and being very disruptive. If the host had sat this family further away from us, I don't think we would have had an issue.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good contemporary MexicanVery good contemporary Mexican but overpriced - $26 for a large guac, really? Service was excellent.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFelt Like I Was On VacationWent on a Gilt City voucher for Sunday brunch. Magnifico! Started off with 4oz tasters of Pomegrate Margaritas, a perfect balance of alcohol and fruit. Next came Rosa Mexicano's legendary guacamole and chips. Then a choice of entrees---in this case a chile-dusted stuffed brioche french toast with carmelized plantains and a lively scramble of eggs, tomatoes, and chiles with tortillas. To wash it all down, there was a pitcher of Sangria, red or white. Hope you aren't full, because the deal concluded with a small pitcher of Mexican Hot Chocolate and churros. Suffice to say dinner was a non-starter!!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, fast food preparatioGreat service, fast food preparation, great ambiance.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMexican food at its best..outstanding food. really enjoyed the Guacamole done at table side. we cannot wait to go back for dinner next time. i understand the pork shank is wonderful..4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is wonderfully preparedThe food is wonderfully prepared - I'd never experienced gourmet Mexican before. Especially nice is the fact that they make the guacamole right at your table - and it tastes fantastic. Service is friendly and responsive. A little pricy - but not for this neighborhood.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWelcome to CH CH!!Where have I been? Rosa Mexicano moves to Chevy Chase DC!! Didn't realize it till I drove by and noticed the sign. Went right away and had a fabulous meal in a quiet space, OK it was Easter night! LOL, but really downtown way too noisy for me. And I am delighted to have them so much closer with parking not such an issue. This is the only place in DC that I know of the serves a Michelada (sangrita or Bloody Mary type mix and beer)- my fav. The scallop tortilla/enchilada with salsa verde was delicious!! Waiter was patient with our wacky mood. Art on the back water wall with the Acapulco diver sculptures is awesome.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMService was great, waiterService was great, waiter was perfectly attentive and patient as we waited for a member of our party. We really enjoyed the food and each had a different variety of the tacos. Crab turnovers and Guac were perfect sharable apps and the sangria was delicious as well. Our apps/entrees were reasonably priced but our drinks did some damage, 3 people and the bill was $200 (total). Worth it for a good night out.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMVery accommodating. LovedVery accommodating. Loved that there was a Passover menu, and enjoyed what was on the Passover menu. Family enjoyed it too.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMReally good. You are the centerReally good. You are the center of their world. They are so good.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food presentation withGreat food presentation with delicious tastes. Will definitely go back.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMvery nice restaurant . thevery nice restaurant . the food was good and the staff friendly . they make their own guacamole , which is quite tasty.if there is a downside it seems a little expensive .3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI feel weird calling it aI feel weird calling it a "neighborhood gem" when there are several locations, and it's not as active as the Chinatown location, but it's kind of nice not to have to fight for bar space and still get those phenomenal margaritas.
I wouldn't mark it as kid-friendly just because we weren't there during the dinner rush, but early on in the evening it seemed like there was plenty of room for kids.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGilt City Sangria Brunch for TwoWe enjoyed it. Wish I knew our servers name, he was excellent.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA cut above standard Mexican fareThis was my first visit to this location. Our server was attentive and helpful but he did get one order wrong; my aunt had asked for one goat and one chicken enchilada, one with mole and one with salsa verde sauce. Instead she received two goat enchiladas, covered in mole. Otherwise, it was a very nice experience. It was early, so quiet enough to hear ourselves talk. Margaritas were very tasty, although on the expensive side. The ceviche sampler and guacamole were excellent. The chile relleno was so-so (too chewy). I'll definitely return despite some minor issues.12/11/2012 12:00:00 AM
