A word from Root Down
Root Down aims to connect the neighborhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food. There should be a seamless bond between the elements and experience, which stimulates the senses and draws people in.

Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own.

At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

We enjoyed cocktails and appetizers al fresco after work. The cucumber, pomegranate, vodka cocktail was light and refreshing. Duck wings and lamb slider were delicious. The service was friendly and prompt. This was my first time here, and I will be back.

Brunch was terrific; Tater Tot Benedict and Fried Chicken & Biscuit are not to be missed. We started with Chai and the pastry selection with homemade Grape jam and Miso butter!! What??? Yes, this group is creative and spot-on. Thank you for making dining in Denver a perfect experience.

This was my 2nd visit to Root Down & it was just as enjoyable as the 1st! Wait staff is super friendly and attentive and they are extremely knowledgable about the menu and gave us great recommendations. Food is amazing! Definitely a pricey meal but they match the price with very high quality food (which is a work of art on a plate). Will definitely recommend this place to friends and will be returning soon!

Overall it was a wonderful meal. Service was good. The food was mostly excellent, the only part that I didn't enjoy very much was the bruschetta which was a special. One of my favorite parts of this place is the cocktails. They are so good. They were very nice to accommodate as well and make my girlfriend her favorite, the Ginger Collins from Linger. Great dining experience.

Your tastebuds will thank you for taking them to Root Down! The food is absolutely delicious, the atmosphere is comfortable (we dined al fresco during the evening, and had a view of downtown Denver), service was friendly and helpful. I don't often give 5 stars in all 3 categories - Root Down deserves them all. They also have a restaurant at the Denver airport in the C gates, so we got a second dose of goodness on our way out of town.

This restaurant is a great place to eat. It is a tapas-based system, but honestly, since the portions are for the whole table you can get one or two and be content with a great dinner. Their house-made non-alcoholic drinks are very good and also good for you. Would definitely come back again!

This was my fourth visit to RD. Three couples celebrating two birthdays. Reservation made requested outdoor table, reservation confirmation call by RD confirmed we would have outdoor table. We were seated in a corner inside. Service was slow, wine arriving after appetizers, salads then prior to completion of appetizers. Requested split plates for salads, told "no problem", all salads arrived on one plate, done of three were split. Food was great as normal, but server was non attentive and slow. Overall, on this 4th visit, after high expectations, we were all disappointed.

Root Down seems to be on the decline. The food is not as exciting and unique as I remember it, and the menu seems smaller. This is the second time in a row we have had a bad experience with the kitchen. We ordered a number of small plates. The first group came in normal time. The Palisade Peach starter tasted like Safeway peaches from a hot-house. After we ate the first 4 plates, we waited a full 45 minutes for the next group of plates, with virtually no attention from the servers until right before the food came out. In compensation they gave us each a tiny caramel (which was delicious, but seriously?). Root Down used to be in our top-5 Denver restaurants, but after two similar experiences in a row, I think we won't be back. It's a shame.

We have been to Root Down a number of times and this visit was as good as ever. I had the Kashmiri Chicken and it was the best chicken that I have had in a long, long time. It was done perfectly, the spicing of the chicken was perfect (a little spicy but great Turmeric and Curry) and then the spicy green chili sauce was the topper. The goat cheese and peach bruschetta was to die for as well. All in all, a memorable meal.

I've been to Root Down before and enjoyed it, but this time I went with a group of girlfriends and we ordered several items to share (two salads, 6 small plates, the lamb sliders, and two desserts), so we got to try a little bit of everything. All five of us agreed that every dish was absolutely amazing. As a bonus, the drinks were good and our server was friendly and attentive. What more could you ask for?

Visiting for dinner during the summer restaurant week my friend became stuck in traffic on 36. As I had been seated at a choice table on the patio, I expected to be asked to return to the waiting area. Instead the staff was incredible. I was offered champagne to drink while I waited and assured that I should just relax and enjoy the view. This extremely high level of service continued throughout the evening. The food was beautiful and well prepared, however, on some dishes the sauces overwhelmed the main course. I particularly enjoyed the variety of textures in each dish.

I went for the first time during Denver's Restaurant Week. The food was AMAZING, and though it's not the cheapest, it's a great deal for the type of food you're getting. The cocktails; OH THE COCKTAILS. So good. This place's ambiance was way trendier than I expected after reading the menu, but even a hipster-hater like me would recommend it :)

Root down is by far my favorite restaurant. It happened to be Denver Restaurant Week on our last visit. I usually try to avoid restaurant week but for some reason I didn't realize it was going on. Nonetheless, the food was superb. Even the water there is somehow fabulous. I had spinach gnocchi and the tofu plate with a berry dessert. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

This is the second time we have chosen this restaurant for restaurant week and again it did not disappoint. The melon gazpacho was outrageous! Sweet, cool and crunchy, with a long after burn. Heaven! The kale and heirloom tomato salad was excellent too. The salmon entree (la pancha) was extraordinary - and they substituted a lovely quinoa for the Israeli couscous for those of us who are gluten free. I could have licked my plate (although my friends would have been mortified). And THEN, the chocolate semifreddo and berry compote were both the perfect ending. None of the meals felt like an assembly line. All were lovely and spot on. Have to also give a shout out to Al, Waiter-Extraordinare. Awesome!

So this is my second time going to root down. My first time was for happy hour because me and a friend are vegan and they had decent vegan options. Well the first time I went i wasn't impressed however this visit made me a believer. The food was amazing. I had the seeded tofu and the sauce was to die for. I made reservations and we were a little early but they got us in right away which is crazy because it was restaurant week. The service was great. Not only the waiter but the whole staff was pleasant bsd more than accommodating. While I probably wouldn't go all the time. It's a good place to bring first timers and someone you want to impress.

I have been to Linger several times, but this was my first time visiting Root Down and boy was it good. The service was perfect. We had Tiffany and she was very friendly. She walked us through everything and I never felt rushed or pushed to move faster. We got the Restaurant Week specials and the food was amazing. Me and my date loved each dish we received. The food is well presented as well I thought, which is always nice. The cocktails here were great as well and there are some creative combinations. There is a patio outside as well as inside seating. Both of the environments are trendy and enjoyable. This place is always crowded so make sure to get reservations in advance! Wonderful restaurant.
