A word from Root Down
Root Down aims to connect the neighborhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food. There should be a seamless bond between the elements and experience, which stimulates the senses and draws people in.

Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own.

At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

I love Root Down. The food is always amazing, as is the service. The restaurant is also beautiful, but many of the tables are just too close together. I don't want to hear about the person dining next to me's bitter divorce, and I'm sure she was equally as disinterested in my conversation. A bit of a buzzkill.

While the quality and quantity of food as well as pacing of courses is top notch at Root Down I have a quite personal issue with the service at Root Down. Hours prior to arriving at Root Down on Wed Nov 26th for my 7pm reservation I called to see if I could push my reservation to a slightly later time. Unfortunately they could not make a change, which I said was fine and stated we would arrive on time for my girlfriend's birthday. After arriving at 7pm we waited over 10 minutes to be placed in what I consider the "cheap seats". My girlfriend, 26 and myself 23, felt like we were being treated like the "younger looking people" in the restaurant who probably won't tip well. In our seats I was crammed right in the middle of the restaurant and I constantly adjusted to let waitstaff pass by. This was second time visiting and the second time I was placed in the same spot even though I had a reservation both times. My waiter was also the same as the first time. I forget his name but he's a bit awkward and bland which is negligible. Please though, at least have the decency to say "Happy Birthday" to my girlfriend just once! Root Down, we love your food but there seems to perhaps be a gap in the front of house and back of house. Note- When I dropped off my cake around noon that day, Chef Daniel was very helpful and attentive to my needs.

I love that they have so many different and lovely small plates, which gives me a chance to try many different things. It does seem that they have drastically reduced the number of full size plates, which could be a problem if you are in the mood for a more traditional dinner.

I am a vegetarian, going on 34 years now and I cant tell you how much I love their food. My husband is a meat and potato man, and still enjoys going to Root Down. We took friend's here for a Birthday celebration, they had never been to a restaurant like Root Down, and they want to go back with us. Our server was amazing and we had a window seat with a view of Downtown Denver - it was a great evening Thank you Root Down

This was my 2nd time dining here and was so disappointed. It took over 10 minutes for our server to come to out table and acknowledge us, and then 40 minutes to get our food, and this was morning brunch! I didn't care for the dish I tried, and it was such tight seating, we had to slide our table over anytime someone next to us wanted to get up. I don't think I will be going back.

I've been to root down several times previously and each subsequent time the service has been worse. The food is good and seasonal but wait staff don't seem invested in the dining experience. I was especially disappointed this last time as the waiter was unable to recommend dishes or drinks for us. Again the food is good but I don't know that it makes up for service.

Loved the kale/brussel sprout and the roasted beet salads. The shared dishes were amazing too. I didn't care too much for the sauce the mussels was in, but that might just be me (traditionalist liking garlic and white wine). The toffee dessert was amazing!

Birthdays, anniversaries and the first Tuesday of every month(Raw Food Night) this is where you will find us. Their menu is creative and elegant and their staff is always attentive and friendly. We discovered a new wine there that we will definitely order again. Thank you very much Root Down!

I would. The food is so amazing! We started with the Heirloom Carrot Salad, followed by the most amazing meatballs I will ever have in my entire life. The Sweet potato falafel was delicious as were the Seared Colombian Arepas. The lamb sliders are a staple there, and are always good, but definitely my least favorite. We ended up ordering a 2nd round of meatballs they were so amazing. I also asked about the end of the supply wine list and got a beautiful bottle of Cotes du Rhone for only $33, although they had an amazing wine list. I love every experience I have here. Always a mind-blowing flavor adventure!

There were only high-starch sides offered during brunch, so I asked for a side of the veggie offered on many of the dishes - to which I received a "no" 25 minutes after we submitted our order. Was a bit bummed by the lack of flexibility. Overall it was fine, but there were a few small glitches that kept it from being excellent (for example - one of our folks ordered a bloody mary before the food arrived, but the drink didn't arrive till after he had eaten the ENTIRE meal.)

We had a reservation for Friday night and we were seated promptly. The 3 of us enjoyed many small plates including the scallops, lamb sliders and a beet salad. The dessert was a special and it was outstanding. It was a sticky toffee with caramel and basil ice cream. Lovely evening. We will be back again.

The parsnip soup was the best ever! Texture, flavor, creative mix of ingredients. The lamb sliders were juicy and delicious. Loved the 'whisper" of tastes from pistachios, roasted Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and cream sauce served with the meatballs! Our waitperson was fiery, delightful and efficient. Amazing restaurant. Incredible food and service. My only complaint is that I made a reservation and requested outdoor seating. Upon arriving I was told there was no outdoor seating so we happily sat inside. However, we were sitting by the window and able to see that there were at least four empty tables outside. Otherwise, such a great experience!
