A word from Root Down
Root Down aims to connect the neighborhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food. There should be a seamless bond between the elements and experience, which stimulates the senses and draws people in.

Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own.

At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Love the vibe as you walk in. Our server was great in reading our mood. Let us talk, enjoy a drink before helping us with the menu. It was Denver Week #2 and the menu looked great and the food exceeded that expectation.

The good was unique and delicious. The only complaint I have it that there was a hair on my dessert plate that I was trying to tell the server but the server did not even acknowledge me.

Root Down in Highlands is a converted service station with alot of charm. There is a variety of interesting and tasty food choices, and good coffee. Best to make a reservation. They try to get you seated at your requested time. Can be a little loud but overall a great experience!

This restaurant had been highly recommended to us. We were advised ahead of time to stick with the sharing plates and skip the entrees. We should have heeded this advice. The restaurant was offering their restaurant week menu a night early, so we decided to do it, and also added on a few additional sharing plates. The entree that came with the restaurant week menu was the salmon, and it was extremely salty. Also, the dessert we had was not bad, but nothing to write home about. We ordered the scallops, lamb sliders and meatballs in addition and they were EXCELLENT. Some of the best scallops I've had. The atmosphere is nice, the alcoholic drinks are AMAZING, and service (especially bartender Cynthia) were top notch. Overall GREAT!

I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for months. I have read great reviews, and on a recent flight I had a quick bite at the DIA airport location and thought the soup I had was outstanding. I went to the Denver location on a date and sat on the patio. Very nice ambiance. Service was good. My date's cocktail was good, but mine was undrinkable. We both tried it (the coconut ginger fizz ) and both agreed it tasted and looked like dirty bathwater. Soups and salads very good. The salmon and the risotto entrees were really only just ok. For such a popular restaurant kinda expected better flavors and seasoning in the main courses. Was boardering on boring compared to the soup and salads. The dessert again just ok.

This gem has never failed to please but the meals we had last week were exceptional. Perhaps, it's that the seasonal produce is at it's peak, perhaps it's just that the recipes and presentation are exceptional. I would go there once a week if that was possible!

Innovative choices in both bar and restaurant. The price is very good for the quality of food. Good portions. Quiet neighborhood and nice outdoor space. They did great job converting an old garage with funky decor in bar area. Excellent and friendly service. Free valet. Can't wait to go back to denver to revisit.

We made our reservation online, which was perfect! It was a little difficult to find at first but was worth the u-turn. The menu is not overwhelming, yet offers a nice variety of selections. The waitress was friendly and very helpful. She described the portion sizes and encouraged us to share certain dishes, which was perfect for our Anniversary dinner. We will be returning! The food was delicious, fresh, and the presentation we as outstanding. The food arrived hot and we enjoyed a very memorable night, thanks to Root Down.

Went here with my dad and sister for dinner, got a reservation quickly and had a great table on the patio. Our server, Beth, was awesome. Perfectly attentive, made great suggestions, and nailed every step of service. Food was all very very good, we ordered almost every shared plate and each one was loved by everyone at the table. All the cocktails we ordered were great also. Thank you so much for a great night, we'll definitely be back soon!!

Took out of town family to this restaurant and we all loved it. Service was on point. Waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu, made great recommendations, and with the one drink that someone didn't like she happily took it back and exchanged it for a different drink. Great ambience and fun place to try new, creative foods. The chef knows what he's doing.

My friends and I were visiting from Texas. We made it a point to visit as many of the culinary places in Denver as possible. We discussed it following our trip and it was our favorite spot we ate at. It is a must stop place in Denver for any foodie! The staff was knowledgable and loved what the restaurant stands for. Food was superb and incredibly tasty. It will be a must stop whenever I am in the Denver area. The Scallops were superbly cooked, and the creme brûlée maybe the best dessert I have ever eaten... so good. I would recommend this for anyone looking for great food and atmosphere.

I found Root Down last year when I was here for a conference. I love the veg options and the bartender was amazing and offered several great suggestions for food and drink. I've wanted to take my meat eating boyfriend here and we recently had a wedding near by.I made reservations 2 weekends in advance. Ony two time spots left then. We had an attentive and fantastic server. I got carrot thai soup, veggie sliders and the vegan chocolate ice cream. Everything was great but the soup was my favorite. My bf had antelope with heirloom tomatoes and chipotle corn. He is still raving about it. Varied dress from sundresses to jeans and t shirt to collared shirts for men. Laid back atmosphere and can't wait to be back in Denver again for this place.

After enjoying Root Down in the airport every chance I get and unsuccessfully trying to get a reservation at Root Down in Denver, I was able to get a reservation for my wife, daughter and I in celebration of our 27th wedding anniversary. I was kind embarrassed to admit my favorite restaurant in the Denver area was in the airport, but now I can claim a restaurant that's actually in Denver. They're wonderful. It's pricy, but a foodie paradise and well worth it.
