A word from Root Down
Root Down aims to connect the neighborhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food. There should be a seamless bond between the elements and experience, which stimulates the senses and draws people in.

Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own.

At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

My wife and I had a rare date night while the kids were with a sitter. It was amazing how our server, Drina, helped us enjoy Root Down to the full extent even though theywere quite busy. She had great recommendations, helped select the food we wanted without busting our belly, and had such a great attitude. We would come back anytime for a date night!

This "hidden" gem is nearly tucked away from other notable areas but delievers on all accounts. Free valet parking, excellent food and a variety of GF/V food available. We had the lamb sliders, the beet salad and the devils on horseback and the Colombian Arepas. Everything was very good. Don't forget to make a reservation!!!

Amazing seasonal menus, great service, indoor/outdoor seating. Menu has recently changed to fall offerings. The Kale and Brussels Sprouts salad was delicious. Two of us shared an Icelandic cod entree, the kale salad and delicious sweet corn risotto, followed by a chocolate semifreddo. Great drinks offerings, also.

It is difficult to get a reservation, but when you want to go, definitely try, even if it is a week in advance! It is a small place, the food is delicious and it's very reasonably priced so of course everyone loves it. I really like that they have lots of small plates (not tapas small but small enough to get a few between 2 people) you can share, which is great because you can try a bit of everything and not struggle deciding between dishes. I also like that it is a rotating menu and farm-to-table so even if you go a lot, it will still be new!

Frankly, I was a little disappointed. My husband asked for his steak "Medium Well." It came Medium and was cold. That's annoying. And we were never asked if we wanted coffee with our dessert. We love Pressed Coffee and had it, but our dessert was long gone. And it was our anniversary. We won't rush back.

Having eaten at Root Down a few times, we were disappointed with our experience this past SAturday. Service has always been a strong point at RD but this time it was inconsistent and just not very good. We had to ask 3 times for our drink order and then a different server from Gwen finally delivered it, one of the entrees arrived later than the others which prompted the rest of our table to wait and allow their food to cool --Root Down compensated with "comping" the late entree and the drinks. We were just surprised --considering how "on top of things" Root Down has been in the past. Sitting o the patio was a plus and the wait staff was very kind to the 4-year old was part of our party.

I finally made it to the main Root Down after loving the DIA branch (so much so that I make a point of going to the airport early). With my birthday as an excuse, I brought my family. We shared small plates and couldn't decide our favorite since thy were all equally innovative and delicious. Same for the cocktails! I was worried about the noise level but we could easily carry on a conversation without shouting. Service was attentive with a fun attitude. Can't wait to go again and I won't wait for my next birthday.

We were sat in a corner seat with each of us facing other tables. The seating was uncomfortable and when the tables next to us were sat we had an uncomfortable experience. The prixe fix menu had great appetizers, but the entrees were small and left us wanting more. We have eaten at Root Down at DIA and would say that the food at the airport is truly better.

Great seamless and enjoyable dining experience. I love the decor, its very unique and energetic. I had the pulled pork omelette and a mimosa. It was a great morning pick me up. I had my 10 month old baby with me and the server and busser was very accommodating to my request for highchair and cup and when my monster would throw his toy they would fetch it with a smile. I always appreciate great service esp with a baby.

I was in town for the weekend and found this amazing find through Yelp. I had made reservations and arrived early. They accommodate us and sat us pretty quickly. From the moment we were seated to the minute we left, the staff was incredible. The food was amazing, from the arepas to the spinach gnocchi. The drinks were amazing and they had a wide variety of wines as well. I will definitely return next time I'm in Denver. Thanks staff.

Every time we have something special to celebrate, we make a night of it at Root Down. The service and food are always the best around, and the seasonal menu always brings us a new adventure in flavors. The corn risotto is not to be missed this summer! (Also, don't miss the gnocchi, the mussels, the salmon, the arepas, the devils on horseback, and the sweet corn ice cream!) In short, order a bit of everything, share plates and be amazed at the diverse flavors swirling in your mouth to make something perfect.

Although the soup and shared plate were very good, the tofu main course was extremely over salted and possibly one of the worst main courses I've ever eaten in a restaurant. The rest of my table enjoyed their food, however, one who ranks Root Down as her favorite restaurant, said that the evening's meal was not at all up to their usual standards and that her salmon was overcooked to the medium she had requested. Overall I'm very disappointed based on what I had heard of Root Down.

Root Down is all about excellent food. We had mussels, filafel, scallops, and lamb sliders. All artistically prepared, beautifully presented. Service was friendly and efficient. (But why do servers everywhere feel compelled to tell you everything they're going to do? "I'm going to pour you water now." "I'll put your order in and bring your cocktails". Yeah, sorta guessed you would). Fairly casual place. Servers wears jeans. Patio was lovely when we went, end of September.

As expected from previous experience, dinner at Root Down was fabulous in every way. THe scallops were a bit too salty, but even they still went down! I wondered if the Root Down owners/managers have ever inquired into the possibility of appealing to RTD for a slight route change in the evening bus traffic on the corner of 32nd? Just an idea. The buses intermittently come through and the noise is deafening for a moment or two on the patio. It's an urban scene and site so you're going to have this, but, who knows, if the right word here or there might mitigate some of the noise from the buses.
