I shared small plates and had the wine of the month. Delicious5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMJust plain AWESOMEThe food was so good and so interesting I would absolutely recommend this to everyone. But please note that this is really a small plate type of resturant so to really fill up you need to order a few different things but the are all soo good it really was just amazing food.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!The food was amazing!! We had a great waiter his name is David D., very knowledgeable about the menu took his recommendations and loved everything. Will definetely be back. Also loves the rhubarb sling on the drink menu. Don't miss the dining experience .5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers DayWe went there for dinner on Mothers Day and were lucky enough to sit on the patio. It was a beautiful night and the skyline of Denver was amazing. Loved our waiter, he was very knowledgable and nice. The food was delicious. A great night.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, slow serviceWhile the food was beyond excellent, I was a little surprised at the slowness of our service. With so many servers, etc., our entrees came much slower than anticipated and we asked for bread in between our first course and our entrees. Some may enjoy this slower pace, but it seemed a little awkward.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGet down at Root Down!Root Down is one of LoHi's neighborhood gems. Not only can you ALWAYS count on great contemporary cuisine, but the service and ambiance are the best. On the weekends, bring the kids along for an outstanding brunch. The entire family will love the pancakes and Belgian Waffles. Try the veggie sliders too, or the fried egg sandwich, or an omelet. You can't go wrong with brunch or dinner. Now that the weather is gorgeous, sit outside on the patio and enjoy Blood Orange Bottomless Mimosas.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers Day BrunchEven though they were quite busy, service and food were great. Our appetizers were delayed a little, and because of that they comped us a glass of wine and dessert. Food was outstanding.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLiterally the best food I'veLiterally the best food I've ever had. You will not be disappointed.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of Denver's BestI love Root Down, but like all restaurants, it can be everything to everybody. The food is fabulous, as are most of the wait staff. But the noise level is far too loud to ever be the ideal location for a romantic night out, or even for a group of more than 4, as you'll never be able to hear each other. (BTW, the last time we went the sound track was the most boring – and annoyingly loud – house / techno disco trash mix. The sound level in the room with conversations is already too loud -- why add to the discomfort by adding this trash to the ambiance?) Once the weather is warmer you can escape the noise by sitting on the patio / porch, where you can concentrate on your friends and the food.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was amazing. SheOur server was amazing. She knew the food and preparation and background of everything. outstanding.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectRoot Down NEVER dissappoints!

The best meal we have ever had in Denver.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAMAZING BRUNCH!!!Hands down the best brunch that I have ever had. The Steak and Chilaquiles was perfection! The service was fantastic. Our waiter knew everything about the menu and was able to make fantastic recommendations. Overall, my experience was great! My only complaint is that I wish the water/mimosas were a little more chilled. Other than that, it was fantastic!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter, David, could notOur waiter, David, could not have been more accommodating. The food was outstanding4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Chef and his crew areThe Chef and his crew are able to master the local fresh cuisine with ease. We started the meal with an amazing starter that truly indicated that our taste buds were in for a treat that evening. For the main, I had the steak meanwhile my fiance had the mussells, both a hit. The waitstaff quickly took note that we might need more grilled bread and without any comunication brought more. Nice work. I do not normally eat dessert, but on this evening I decided otherwise. I ordered the bread pudding. Another spot on choice.
The food is not only clean, but truly one of a kind. My fiance and I enjoyed the experience that we called the couple that suggested it up the couple that suggested Root Down to us and thanked them.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had some family in fromWe had some family in from out of town and it was such fun to take them here and KNOW we'll get the best food around, beautifully cooked and exquisitely presented, with expert service and a great buzz in the room. We weren't disappointed. This place lives up to the hype, and goes far beyond that. The menu changes often, the ingredients are locally sourced and amazingly fresh, the food is delicious, creatively thought out, a delight to the palate, the staff truly care about your dining experience, the ambiance is casual and exciting. The layout contains an open kitchen so you can watch the chefts at work, which is fun (if you can tear yourself away from the people-watching). You must eat here!!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMRoot Down always deliversRoot Down always delivers a good experience. I thought some of the dishes were great but a few were a bit basic and lacking in flavor. Good drinks. Service this time was average. The carrot gnocchi was excellent as was the beet salad. Will definitely go back.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the most amazing timeWe had the most amazing time here. The weather was perfect, and though we sat inside (our request), the garage door was open and we were able to feel the nice breeze. I had the cardamom fizz (non-alchoholic) and it was very good! Make sure to save room for dessert!
We have found a new favorite!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great Experience! The duck tacos were excellent. Duck can be greasy, but the duck was tender and flavorful and not the least bit greasy. The salmon was well seasoned and cooked to perfection, but the quinoa was a little undercooked. The lamb sliders were excellent. All the food came out piping hot, and our server was attentive without being overbearing.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMService was excellent. FishService was excellent. Fish was a touch dry & quinoa was super spicy. Didn't love it. The beet salad was amazing.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was wonderful as always.Food was wonderful as always. Our server was really terrific!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSix of us - boomers and foodiesSix of us - boomers and foodies - travelled up from Boulder for a birthday celebration. We were pretty blown away by the quality of ingredients and creativity of the food. Our waitress, Meg, informed us that the spring menu was 60% local and that as the growing season in Colorado progresses, it will be 100%. Also, want to note that we were seated in a separate dining room that enabled us to hear one another - something not possible in many restaurants today. Great service, outstanding reasonably priced food. Hands down, better than anything we have in Boulder today. Please consider opening a restaurant up here!
PS, already made a reservation for next month!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding. I always receiveOutstanding. I always receive amazing service at Root Down. The chefs and servers take the time to adjust meals for my special dietary needs. I can always count on Root Down to have outstanding service and food when I need to entertain business associates, out of town guests or friends a family. Thank You.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT Service, but small menuLoved Root Down. The food was delicious and the service was unbelievably good. We had reservations at 8:00 on a Thursday night, and although we arrived right at 8:00, I fully expected to wait a bit to be seated, considering how busy they were. Bar was packed and I didn't see an empty table. At 8:10, the manager/owner (not sure which) came over and apologized profusely for the wait...again, after only 10 minutes. 5 minutes later, she brought free sweet potato fries. We were seated 2 minutes later, after waiting less than 20 minutes total. The manager/owner came over and apologized AGAIN at our table. So nice. Service by the waitress (Megan) was great, too - kept our drinks full but didn't hover.
My only complaint is that the menu is limit4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit toThis was our first visit to Root Down and all four of us loved it. I can't wait to go back and have already recommended the restaurant to friends here in Boulder. The food was fantastic and the staff is welcoming, energetic, and knowledgeable. There are interesting flavor and texture combinations and great attention to detail in preparation and presentation. The service we had was excellent, knowledgeable, attentive but never overbearing. A couple of highlights were the devil on horseback and the seared Colombian arepas.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great meal here.We had a great meal here. My only complaint would be that it was a little more expensive than I would have liked. But I got over it.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy new favorite restaurantMy husband took me to Root Down for my birthday dinner, our first time there. The restaurant came highly recommended by a friend.
The food was incredible! I admit I ordered far too much because there were too many great choices. At the end of dinner, we asked to see a dessert menu (I don't know why I thought I could eat anymore), and as we were provided one, our server said, "And you have a complimentary pudding for your birthday!" I was amazed that he knew it was my birthday, and my husband had not told him.
After dinner my husband said that when he told me "Happy birthday," the server was at the next table with his back toward us, but apparently caught those words. How is that for multi-tasking? Fantastic service!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMRoot Down was a great find!Root down was a great find. My wife and I had a delicious cocktail in the bar area and then ordered a couple of small. Plates for dinner. The food came out in a timely manner and was served to us by a very attentive and fun server. The server also answered questions helpfully and specifically when needed to. We enjoyed the devils on horseback and the lamb sliders were fantastic. Recommend getting dessert. We had the bread pudding, which was great. Really loved it overall.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service! TheGreat food and service! The waiter had great recommendations and was very accomodating with ordering a variety of items and sizing them to fit the need. The table area is a bit crowded, though, and privacy is not easy. Tables right by door to patio caused a cold breeze every time the door was opened.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticOur first time at Root Down and the brunch was fantastic. This place can be great for medium sized groups but you MUST make a reservation at least a month in advance. We have had the pleasure of spending 2 Anniversary dinners here over the past few years and are always so pleased with our meal, the service, and the overall experience. We are well taken care of, well fed, and both times they've thrown in some extra treats for our special date. The soup was amazing, my salad was delicious, the salmon and shrimp were excellent. The option of half portion dinner entrees enables us to order more variety and leave feeling perfectly but not overly full. We'll gladly come back each and every time we're in the Denver area.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
