Diner Reviews
  • "I would say it is okay. Not anything bad or remarkable"

  • "Yummy food and great atmosphere! A wonderful downtown spot to relax and enjoy well prepared food."

  • "My wife and I had a difficult time choosing our entrees because everything on the menu sounded fantastic. The chef really understands what ingredients to put together to create something that tastes excellent. We were ultimately happy with our choices, and we look forward to returning to try other items."

  • "Beautiful dinner before a Booth Theatre event!. Waiter -- TROY -- was THE BEST! Did not feel rushed but was in-out with a relaxing dinner in an hour, 15 minutes. He made perfect recommendations for wine, apps & dinner. And, for a rainy night did not get wet -- parking garage connected to Roosters -- walkway to theatre! Look forward to next visit."

  • "I've never gone to Roosters and been disappointed. The food is always fresh and flavorful. The soft shell crab special rivaled anything you could get in Maryland or DC."

  • "I've eaten at Roosters SP several times, but first at uptown store. Waiter was busy and very distracted. first bottle of wine was corked. I had the pasta special--way too salty--like eating a box of salt. Bus staff kept passing by our table dropping food, dishes, and water which splashed on my guess--this happened twice. the bus girl that cleared our table spilled water and olive oil on the table and did not come back to wipe up. when I asked the waiter to wipe the table she seem annoyed and gave it a small wipe, but did not completely clean the table so we used our napkins. Seems like the wait staff needs training."

  • "This is our Go To Place when we want reliable great food and friendly service. Chef Joe always offers fantastic specials if we want to try something other than the great regular menu. A must have is the charcuterie: house made meats and local cheeses. Never disappoints, the restaurant or the Bar for food. Check out the Bar Bites Specials on the chalkboard. We love their sandwich specials. "

  • "Just eat here. Food and wine are delicious. One of my favorites. Smoked chicken wings, chicken liver mousse, duck confit, succotash and more. All excellent."

  • "We went here before a show at the Blumenthal and had a great experience. The food was delicious, the service was great, and we were able to walk over the crosswalk to get to the show. We had been to Rooster's at South Park but never Uptown. The tomato and basil bisque was to die for. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "We had a wonderful meal and a great waitress! She helped us make decisions ans steered us towards really wonderful selections (hanger steak, au gratin potatoes, bourbon butter pudding and a good glass of wine). The sides were big enough to share and very well prepared. The service was efficient and prompt though we didn't feel rushed. Would return again! We sat upstairs away from the bar as we were looking for a little more quiet and it was a fun spot as you can keep an eye on the cooking and enjoy the bustle."

  • "Everything great. Sides are big enough to share 2-4 people. "

  • "Like the fresh food and the organic food. could have a more pleasing presentation. don't like it when the waitress pushed appetizers and other a la carte items. "

  • "Probably the best tomato bisque we've ever eaten. The roasted beets and pan fried corn were both very good. Gnocchi and hanger steak nicely done."

  • "Was a very good dinner to have. Very good food and friendly waiters and staff"

  • "Roast chicken is as good as it gets. The burger was mediocre at best and the bun was chewy and tasted microwaved. Didn't eat it this time, but the turkey sandwich at lunch in the best ever. (they do tend to run out of a lot of items and we ate at 8pm on a Saturday night)"

  • "This was our first visit to the uptown location of Rooster's, and my husband and I were THOROUGHLY please (as we were at the South Park location as well!). I love that Rooster's has a unique and simple variety of well-prepared dishes using locally sourced ingredients. Even with splitting an appetizer, side dish and dessert along with our main entrees and a glass of wine, I left feeling very pleasantly full and not overwhelmed or stuffed. I so appreciate the beauty of the natural flavors taking command over heavy amounts of salt, grease, etc. It really shows both in taste as well as how you feel when you finish your meal! Portion sizes help with this too. And the coconut cake?....DEFINITELY a high recommendation!! Best I've tasted!"

  • "Like anything good you have to pay for it. I thought the food was great, very nice for my sister's birthday celebration but it is priced a little high."

  • "The location was odd, located in BOA building halfway up the staircase. Small and kind of rustic appearance. The menu didn't impress where I expected several chicken options. There were only 3 with varied sizes, natural chicken, BBQ chicken, & chicken wings. We ordered the BBQ chicken half bird, and wings with fingerling potatoes. BBQ chicken was decent served in a vinegar based sauce, but too dry. The fire roasted wings were the highlight of the meal, perfect char. Fingerling potatoes were crunchy and delicious but not worth the $7 price tag. Overall, disappointed about the lack of chicken options, & considering the sides weren't included, kind of pricey. Probably wouldn't go back unless grabbing just the wings."

  • "Dishes were perfect for sharing and this meshed especially well with the a la carte menu that was offered. You were able to create your own meal by selecting your favorite pieces from each section of the menu. "

  • "Had a great meal at Roosters! Charcuterie sampler was fantastic, and a great deal. Short ribs were among the best (if not simply the best) i've had. Open kitchen was a visual treat for everyone, and our server Heather was awesome - really made us (and the kids) feel welcome! We had a wonderful time, look forward to visiting again when we are back in charlotte!"

  • "Service only got 3stars because one of the managers ended up being our waiter after we waited for a long time for our waiter to get our order. They were notably very busy but we waited almost 30mins before we finally spoke up. Everything else was fabulous though!! Great food and will definately returned again. "

  • "This was our first time there and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food and service were both outstanding, although the drinks were on the pricey side. That seems to be the norm in downtown CLT though. "

  • "The food, service, ambiance all are outstanding. The Kale salad is so good, we had 2 apiece. The service is unbeatable. The servers recommend wines and foods that fit to a tee."
    Dined on 4/19/2014
  • "Food was very good, but everything is ala carte. Salad was $9 to add to an entree. Wine was $10/glass. "

  • "I love Rooster's SouthPark, and this was the first time I've visited the Uptown location. We ordered several dishes - the featured pasta of the day was delicious! The pan-fried corn and sweet potato hash were over-seasoned (the first too peppery, the second too salty), and our scallops were cold. We also had the banh mi and pork belly from the bar menu - the bread on the former was stale and the meat was tough, but the pork belly sandwich was good and spicy. The food at the SouthPark location never disappoints, so I was a bit surprised that Uptown didn't deliver the same consistency."

  • "Enjoyed lunch very much. The sandwich was fresh, chicken was great and was happy to get a lite side of spinach instead of fries. My server was excellent and very attentive throughout the service."

  • "Not as good as the original at SouthPark. But close."

  • "As always this restaurant never seems to fail us. We dine out approximately two to three times a week in the Charlotte area. We attend the Blumenthal Theater uptown frequently and have tried dining at other restaurants before attending the show. Roosters is our favorite! The food is exceptional and on this visit our server was Awesome! (Jimmy) He recommended a terrific wine with our meal that we really enjoyed. And the coconut cake was divine! Our server made sure we had plenty of time to arrive to the show. Enjoyed the entire night out."

  • "Went with a friend for the first time to Roosters for dinner and drinks. I throughly enjoyed the myself. The staff was great, and the service was on time. My only note is the Half Chicken I order was a not flavorable. I will definitely eat at Roosters again, but i will not order the Half Chicken."

  • "Food was excellent both sides and entree, portion size of Entree I felt was very small for the price ($17 for 5 small scallops) and a small rectangle appetizer plate of shrimp for my husband. The sides portions are enough to share and were delicious (onion rings, beets, and au gratin potatoes). The whole experience being that the menu was a ala carte style made the meal quite expensive. Flavors were delicious. You know when there is no salt and pepper on the table food will be well seasoned and it was. I'd appreciate the entree coming with a side or two for the price and feel that would be more appropriate and would draw me back sooner."

  • "Good choice before heading over to the Belk Good food, great service, convenient to theater Note-- almost all items ala carte Sides enough to share"

  • "A friend and I wanted to try out some new food places in Charlotte and we pass this restaurant a lot and decided to give it a try. The food was delicious. I tried the BBQ Meatloaf, and yes I generally do not eat anyone's meatloaf but my mother's, but this was a steal! Crispy and full of flavor. The quality of the food and the price is amazing and appreciated; we'll be going back."
