Diner Reviews
  • "The food was good and the portions were so large I have lunch leftovers for 2 days. Our waitress, however, left much to be desired. Upon the server finally coming over to greet out table, I ordered a pomagranite martini. The waitress asked me if I had ever had that drink there. I told her I didn't recall. She said she'd never seen it made there but wouldn't go check to see if it could be made. Finally, my boyfriend asked her outright to go check. She, of course, responded with a lot of attitude, and then no surprise, they couldn't make the drink. That set the tone for a lot of attitude the rest of the night from her. I would have given 1 star for service, but the bread and water ladies were so nice and helpful, I gave 2."

  • "Only negative was that my mom ordered scallops, which tasted great but there were only 4 scallops. We thought for the price that was silly. Caramel cake was a little dry/too salty. Wine was great. Our waitress was super friendly."

  • "Rooster's is one of our favorite restaurants. The Caesar Salad is the best any where!! Love the spit-fire roasted Chicken. It is really moist and tender! You have to try the pan fried corn. The Strawberry-Rhubarb pie was amazing! You can't go wrong with whatever you order. Service is always great! Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Pork belly was terrible. The flavors were good but the "pork belly" was glorified thick cut bacon. Mushrooms and veggie side dishes were very good as was the desert. i have eaten here on numerous occasions and this was a first."

  • "Great after work spot, nice beer and wine list. The food was all delicious and the atmosphere was fun and inviting. Will visit many more times."

  • "The food is great. Very original dishes you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else in charlotte. I love it, I just wish I could afford to eat there more often!"

  • "1/4 chicken at $10 includes.... A piece of chicken on a small plate no garnish no nothing. If you want a little veggies or starch you order them as sides they will add up to a $30 meal. Charlotte isn't NYC. If I were running the restaurant I would throw in a small amount of starch and veggie and present a nice plate for $15 Unlikely I would return here. Nice to stop by for a glass of wine. Find somewhere else for dinner."

  • "You can dress up a pig but it's still a pig and this place seems to be over-priced BBQ! The best part of the dinner was the cured meat we had as a starter. The portion size was ample for the price; however they may want to consider presenation. We tried the carolina bbq pork shoulder & hanger steak for entrees and split the Asparagus, Spinach (both drenched in butter/oil), and Polenta (fried) sides. I love pork made any way but this one bordered on dry. The smoke level was good ; however I was not a fan of the Lexington style side sauce. My boyfriend had the hanger steak which he liked but it was a little tough/chewy- it’s not tenderloin. We did not try dessert. I honestly would not go back for dinner, but maybe for lunch."

  • "My husband and I went to Rooster's for the first time over the weekend and we both thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. The restaurant seems to stay very busy and full, yet the staff was efficient, attentive, and very personable. The wine list was great: an entire page with a variety of origins and price ranges. We chose a cheaper bottle of wine, yet it was absolutely delicious. The food was equally impressive: from the dipping oil to the scallops and shrimp to the lovely desserts that we ordered, high quality and thoughtful preparation was evident all around. Definitely will recommend to others!"

  • "Met with friends for dinner. While service and wine were very good, the menu was difficult to understand. No vegetarian options. Serving ala carte is very expensive. Have enjoyed it for lunch but would NOT go back for dinner."

  • "Had a great dinner Thursday evening. Warning: get your open table reservation well ahead of time. Started with 2 very nice salads; arugula and blue cheese. My wife had a delicious salmon; done perfectly at medium well; our server helped make selecting the cooking temperature the right one. I had the short rib, huge, delicious; one of the best I've ever had. We shared a roasted beet side. Good cocktails and wine by the glass. Like the way your glass is poured at the table, nice touch. Tonight was stellar; great job!"

  • "One of the better meals I've had at this location. Rooster's continues to provide consistent quality, food selections and a great wine list. This is one of our "go-to" spots in Charlotte"

  • "Food is good although it's always hard to know what to order. Loud restaurant butnot overly so. Great aroma from grill. Perfect for large group. Service was mostly great. Had to ask for water refills and appy plates. Would recommend to a group of friends or adult family group."

  • "Good menu; good service; two or our entrees were a little on the salty side, but that has not been my experience in the past."

  • "I always love Roosters!!! I took a good friend there to celebrate her birthday, as she had never been before. She LOVED it! Not only is the food absolutely delicious, the presentation is phenomenal. I love to sit at the bar and "witness" the cooking......quite impressive and entertaining!!! Great restaurant!"

  • "The only complaint I would have for this place would be the portion size but only because the food was so delicious! I wanted so much more. 5 star all around! Wine a lil expensive but it was worth the experience! Definitely going back!"

  • "We both had the salmon which was very tasty. The ceasar salad was pitiful however. You would expect much better given the price and caliber of restaurant. It took too long to get the main course too. I really enjoyed the glass of Riesling though. Can't really say it was worth the money overall. Didn't like how you had to pay extra for the sides. One note, make sure you request a table in the main dining room. They were seating people in the hallway which was not heated well. The bar dining room across the hall wasn't as nice either."

  • "My husband and I love Rooster's. We have both been there for lunch, but we hadn't for dinner. The dinner was fantastic just like we suspected. He had the duck which was really good! I got the BBQ chicken breast which had a really good tangy BBQ sauce. I think next time I will get the duck. For the side I would recommend the Au Gratin potatoes, and you most definitely have to try the bread pudding for dessert."

  • "We wandered from the wood-fired specialties and were disappointed in the result. Calamari, called squid here, was pinky ring size, over battered. My seafood linguini was flavorful, but portion was more 'small plate' and contained: two nice scallops, one nice shrimp, four tiny mussels and a scattering of calamari scraps and pinky rings that wouldn't tip a scale at more than a couple of grams. Drinks and service were great, and the chicken looked good going by. Moral of story: don't order fish at a place named Rooster's."

  • "Went here on husband's birthday and everything was perfect. Our waitress remembered us from the last time we were in which was about two years ago! The food was perfectly prepared and the portion size is the best - not too much. My husband got the hanger steak which is always great and I got the salmon, which was among the best I've ever had. We also got our favorite sides: creamed corn, spinach, and couldn't resist their fries! When the waitress found out it was husband's birthday, she brought a chocolate molten cake which was luscious (and comped). A fabulous evening."

  • "Roosters is our go to neighborhood restaurant because of the friendly and helpful staff as well as good food. Last week I had a pasta which was made like gnocchi but semolina with port shanks and a delicious sauce made of purred vegetables. Delish."

  • "We chose Rooster's as the place for an introductory team meeting. The hostesses were great about our reservation, which had to change. We had attentive and pleasant service. Like the Rooster's in Uptown, the food was fabulous. This was my first time at the South Park location with a brand new team at work. Great impressions all around!"

  • "The ambiance is casual and unassuming but when you walk in the door it is the aromas that really hit you. Each dish was a surprise and showed much more technique than I would have thought by the "wood fired" in the name. I had the foie gras appetizer and the pan seared flounder. Both were plated beautifully and the tastes were layered and wonderfully complex while still highlighting the fresh ingredients. My husband had the duck confit and is still talking about it. They could charge much more for their dishes but they do not. It says quite a bit about how the kitchen and the business itself is run, don't you think? I think you have some very smart people running this restaurant."

  • "As always, i enjoy going to Roosters. You can always expect attentive service, and wonderful all natural fresh food. Prepared perfectly every time!!! I love the coconut cake for desert, the French martini, the grits w/bacon, and all the vegetables!! Actually, I have enjoyed everything I have ever ordered there. Local foods are used where available."

  • "Last year we decided to make this the start to our bike racing season each year. We love sitting at the bar surrounding the open kitchen. Even though it is first come first served there, the restaurant was more than graciously reserved us a couple of chairs. We started with the salami and cheese pizza It had a wonderfully thin and crisp crust combined with the toppings were great. The BBQ rotisserie chicken and mac and cheese (always on the menu) hit the spot. The BBQ sauce is different than what we normally find around here but it ranks high with us. We also had the pork chop (on of the specials) that looked like it would flip the Flintstone's car, and was seasoned well. The roasted vegetables rounded out the meal wonderfully."
