I went with 2 friends to Roost on a Friday night. We opted to sit outside because it was a nice night. It's a good thing too, because the lighting inside was as bright as the dairy aisle in the grocery store. Overall the food was ok and the service was weak. We started with the cheese plate and a bottle of red wine. It was fine but came with no introductions on what the cheeses were. The wine came and there was no tasting. Just a giant pour in all of our glasses. Then the waitress put the cork back in the wine...let it breathe, lady! My friends ordered the mushroom risotto which was completely underseasoned and bland. I ordered the salmon with polenta which was decent.

Food was very tasty, a little disappointed they could not cook hamburgs the night I was there.

I went here for brunch last weekend with a few of my girlfriends and it was exactly what I was hoping for. The manager gave us the option to sit outside where they moved around a couple tables to accommodate us. The 'Easy like Sunday Morning' was refreshing and had the perfect combination of pineapple to gin. Brian, our server, was attentive and talkative despite serving the entire patio. I couldn't decide between the Spanish omelette and Nutella almond French toast so obviously I got both. GREAT decision. The omelette was fluffy and full of chorizo and the French toast was to die for with globs of Nutella and a killer syrup. The eggs florentine looked beautiful in it's little skillet, too. Definitely going back soon to try the pork belly!

I went to Roost on a sunny Thursday for lunch. The waiter matter-of-factly informed us that they did not have their Roost Burger or cheeseburger today. The menu is not expansive, and ground beef is sold next door -- how could you be out of it? Our chicken sandwiches were super-dull. The purported sun-dried tomato pesto had no taste or presence at all. It was a bun with some wan chicken breast on it. The fries were fine. The wait for these three chicken pieces on buns with iceberg lettuce was at least 30 minutes, even though there was only one other diner there when we arrived. Overall, not impressed!

Went here for Sunday Brunch. It was nice to sit outside on Newbury St and people watch in the sun. However, the tables were crammed together on the patio, making it quite uncomfortable. The food was nothing special... I got 3 eggs over easy and 2 had broken yolks. Would probably not go back.

We had a fabulous time as a group of 8 trying out Roost. The food was excellent...the wine selection was varied...and our server was wonderful. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try.

Very nice service, but a little amateur - lots of empty dishes, glasses left on table. Food is mediocre at best. Burger was good but big buns were stale (I'm talking 3-days old). Had to send back my lb) entree as it was over cooked (well done when I ordered it rare to mid rare) and when I got it back, it was raw. Some nice beers. I would go here for a drink but eat elsewhere.

A friend and I took another friend to Roost for her birthday. We wanted to like this new restaurant on Newbury street, but the only stellar thing about it was our waiter Miguel. One friend observed Miguel trying to confirm the specials with the manager who appeared to be very dismissive. My porkbelly sandwich was greasy and goopy (from the coleslaw), my friend's crispy chicken sandwich was over done. The lobster roll was good, but needed more mayo and less bread. Miguel was extremely attentive but it seemed as though he didn't have much support. There was only one other table with two diners, yet we waited a long time for our meal. I think they need to work out some kinks with food delivery, executive service and the ambiance.
