  • "The prime rib was way over done. There was not one piece that was rare as a prime rib should be. The service was great except when I went to get my roll the waiter had taken it away. We had an amazing table and a perfect view. Thanks for such a wonderful, experience."

  • "My husband and I came her to celebrate my birthday, and we were definitely not disappointed! I requested a window seat with my online reservation, and they delivered. The views were spectacular, the food was fantastic, and it was a romantic setting with beautiful live piano music playing. We will definitely return here for special occasions!"

  • "A fun night to go out and look at the Salt Lake Temple and enjoy good food. My only complaint was the food wasn't worth the price of the ticket, but overall a great night."

  • "I didn't mind that this place was a buffet , but the food was cold as soon as we sat down. The view was the only great thing about it and our waiter. Dessert was delicious we had flan & creme brûlée. Overall our experience here was ok. Best part was view, dessert, & waitress."

  • "This was a great experience. Wonderful views, beautiful building with a lovely atmosphere. We love that there is a pianist playing music which really adds to the experience. The food and service was great! This is a place that we come to for many of our special occasions as a couple an with our family. We had a nice relaxing evening celebrating a birthday. Did not feel rushed so the evening was very enjoyable. The ease of parking was a big plus too!"

  • "Since this would be our only time visiting this restaurant I asked for a table near a window when my husband and I arrived. I had not requested one online because we were not "celebrating" anything special. I did indicate we did had never been there before when the reservations were booked online. Multiple tables were available and were never in use during our entire time there. Seems strange to deny someone their request if the tables sat there empty!"

  • "My wife and I were treated to an amazing meal at The Roof this past week. From the moment we walked in, we were treated so well. I appreciated the fact that Stephen, our waiter, was not rushing between a dozen tables; He was great to walk over for a quick check on things or to spend a couple of minutes explaining details of the menu. He was so knowledgeable, friendly and responsive. We loved the beautiful piano music and the view of Temple Square at sunset was breathtaking. It was great being able to go to a nice restaurant and be able to sample EVERY menu item. It's by far our favorite place for a special night out!"

  • "4 of us Sister Missionaries came Saturday. One of us has been a missionary for over 6 years and none of us knew the Roof did Lunch. So when the I received the notice that lunch was being served on the Saturday of Conference weekend, I quickly told the other 3 and we all thought that would be a great treat for us! Then on top of the wonderful food, the ambience, and the wonderful service, the waiter told us that someone had picked up the tab for all of us! Oh, my goodness! What a kindness from someone who was also there that day.... who didn't know us .... and yet was so thoughtful. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience of being at your restaurant Saturday."

  • "The Roof never disappoints. The view is amazing and the food was perfection. Start off with a refreshing salad and fresh fruit, a couple of shrimp to make it rich. Then on to the entrees that are cooked to perfection, From swordfish to Cordon Bleu, Flank steak and Prime Rib, all were delicious in their own way. We had to try them all. But be sure and save room for some dessert. The selection is unmatched in diversity and flavor. The service is prompt and efficient, the Roof is without a doubt our favorite restaurant in SLC."

  • "The food is average.. Salmon was cold and the prime rib was okay. But the view alone is worth it too me, and the piano. An amazing piano player, playing while you eat as you over look the salt lake valley. Make sure you request a window seat, or your experience won't be the same. If you're looking for amazing food, this isn't the place. Romantic night out, classy, and special occasion? Yes."

  • "The Roof has been around at seems forever. I went there for my junior prom in 1979. For most of my adult life, it has been a high-end buffet with excellent quality cuisine served buffet style. The views are quite nice overlooking the historic Salt Lake Temple for the Mormon Church. Being in the Joseph Smith building, don't expect a wine list nor the ability to order iced tea. However, being able to get a diet coke (caffeinated) was a pleasant surprise. The location is center to a lot of the goings on in downtown Salt Lake, walking distance from Abravanel Hall, the Delta Center as well as the Temple grounds next door. The food was very good and the service was wonderful. The price was what you would expect on the high end. Loved it."

  • "I took a group of 8 to the Roof Restaurant and we loved it. Here's the breakdown: 1. View: Doesn't get much better. You get a view of Temple Square, the conference center, and the Capitol. When we walked in, you could hear everyone just pause and take in their breath. 2. Service: Server was polite, gave great advice, remembered our drink orders, and kept our drinks filled. She was also quick to take our payment. 3. Food: It was very good. They serve buffet style but this is not your normal buffet. One of our group said they were the best mashed potatoes she ever had. The pork loin was my favorite although a number of others loved the slow cooked prime rib. 4. Deserts: All I can say is wow."

  • "The atmosphere was great! Beautiful view, great service, and romantic setting added to our anniversary getaway. The food was good but not what I would consider memorable. I doubt I we would ever select dining here for the food alone. I think that you can find better cuisine for a better price. Overall, a great place to experience and have a romantic evening with a spectacular view!"

  • "The food was excellent from the appetizers to the main course but the desserts are the best part of the meal. Their rolls are light and fluffy and you could make a meal out of them alone. I love the ambience of the place, dark wood with light accents to give it a calming and relaxed feeling. The view of downtown Salt Lake City is breathtaking especially the view of temple square."

  • "So the two positives about this restaurant are the view, and the prime rib. It needs to be more clear and vivid to potential customers that this is a non alcohol restaurant, and a buffet, a very expensive buffet. We went here because of emails I get from OpenTable. It was a bad choice. We could have spent our night out somewhere enjoyable. I am rarely impressed with a buffet, and this was no exception. There were 5 cooked meat dishes, and all of them were like cafeteria food except the prime rib, which was very good. I like to have a glass of wine with dinner, this isn't an option. No alcohol. I didn't know we were going to Temple Square until it was too late. So many great options in Salt Lake, and I feel as though I was duped."

  • "The Roof was amazing! The views were spectacular, the ambience was incredible, and the service was fantastic!! Listening to the glass baby grand piano playing all through dinner really added to the experience. It is definitely one of the top 3 restaurants I have ever eaten at. I highly recommend it. Raving reviews from me!"

  • "The Roof offered quality food, impeccable service and fantastic scenery of the downtown area and temple square. They placed a business group next to us consisting of 10 people. The group was very loud and kind of ruined the atmosphere. They did offer to relocate us but we had the best seat in the house and we were almost through with our meal."

  • "Had a wonderful dinner for a special occasion. The service is ALWAYS too notch. I love the ambiance and atmosphere. The food wasn't the best I've had this visit, but was good none the less. Terri was out waitress and was PHENOMENAL. Great as always!"

  • "We went to The Roof for our anniversary dinner and will definitely be making this an annual tradition. The atmosphere is perfect and the view absolutely breathtaking! A professional piano player makes the ambiance perfect. The food is delicious and the price is moderate, so it makes it easy to say that we will return often. Thank you for such a great eating experience!!"

  • "Pro - So romantic. The pianist was great. He set the mood as soon as you walked in. The view was pretty and different. There was a lot of food to pick from. Gluten free choices were a plus. The prime rib was the best I've ever had. Con - I didn't find the desert as delectable as it was supposed to be. Most of it was little strange desserts that honestly weren't that great. No alcohol."
