  • "I went there last Friday with some friends from out of town, and none of us enjoyed anything about this place. The whole concept of having the chef cook your food in front of you is supposed to be fun, and this was totally uncomfortable. The server and the cook were fighting in front of us, the meal was flavorless--the meat was overcooked and the shrimp was undercooked. All of this for $50 per person, and we walked away hungry and disgusted. None of us plan to ever go back!"

The service was BAD - the waiters were not nice and the cook did not even greet anyone at the table. The food was even worst! There wasn't any seasoning on the food. The egg yolk is disgusting, the fried rice tastes like Hamburger Helper (it has ground beef in it), the meat is bad - everything was BAD. I would NEVER go to this place again! If you are looking for a Japanese restaurant that is close to Benihana, stay away from this one! You will be disappointed!!!! I can't tell you how horrible the food was."

Our cook Jose is an absolute beast at cookin and he is truly an amazing soul. i recommend a group of people to go unless your looking into meeting new people, which is also very cool. The chef performance was poor and the ambiance was tacky. I would never go back. I was aware of the prices which is why I expected excellent services instead I received poor services."

  • "One reason we go to hibachi style restaurants is for the Show, ie the onion volcano, the shrimp tail flip... Which is also something you pay for as the average meal is about $35/ person. We had no show, in fact the chef barely spoke to us and barely spoke English (when he spoke to the waitress it was in Spanish). Then in the middle of cooking the entrees he accidentally knocked over a glass and it broke on the cooking surface. He was cleaning the surface to remake the 2 steaks, when we asked of he could make them on another table since we knew there was glass on this one he told us it would take too long. We told them to forget the steaks, & to take them off the bill. They deducted $6 from the bill & the manager was rude. "

  • ". I was in town visiting Chicago from San Diego, and I had been her several times before. It wasn't as great as I remembered it, but still good. I still LOVE the egg topping they put on the shrimp! I don't know why other Japanese steakhouses don't use it, I only know of one other one. The chef was happy to make some to top my fried rice as well! This used to be my all time favorite, but it seemed my filet was a little tough, not as tender as it should have been. The chef used to make it a type of show in the past, instead of just cooking the food. And the menu was pretty overpriced compared to another famous, national Japanese steakhouse that I frequent. Not as entertaining for the price."

The amount of food for the money was unimpressive. There was nothing "special" about what was served. I didn't have anything that makes me want to go back. I am quite confident I could have cooked the same quality of meal for MUCH cheaper. The ice cream was terrible. The chef didn't engage with anyone. However, our server was great. He was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, that was the only good thing about the experience. "

  • "I recently went to Ron of Japan and was overly satisfied! I was a bit skeptical from reading some of these negative reviews but am so happy that i went! From the moment I went into the front door, they were attentive and accommodating to my needs. From there, it just got better. Once sat down, the waiter promptly came to take our drink order and the chef was a pleasure to be around..let alone he was an amazing cook who seasoned things in ways I have never had! The lobster is a good 10inch tail and delicious with their amazing egg yolk sauce. It wasn't an accident as to why the benihana in chicago went out of business, my opinion it was because it couldn't compete with Ron's! I would recommend this place to anyone!"

  • "Made reservation but kept waiting for 55min after reservation time. We informed restaurant it was a birthday via online and in person, however it was completely forgotten about. We felt bad for the birthday boy when all these other tables were getting a celebration we were just given the check at the end of the meal. The "show" aspect at our table never happened...just cooked food. No interaction and no "big fire flames" or "tower of onion". Again we watched that happen at other tables. Unfortunately we were seated with an obnoxious lady who kept loudly complaining...not sure if she ruined the show for us, or if our table just was the forgotten table. Generally this is a fun place for a celebration, but this time around it was not."

The food was average at best, The back room they sat us in had background music that was too loud, it was extremely smokey and the cooking staff was not energetic at all. Every other teppanyaki restaurant we have ever been too puts on a show as part of the meal, our meal could have just as easily been cooked in the kitchen and brought to our table. I will order carry-out before going back to Ron of Japan.."

  • "As someone who recommends restaurants to tourists as part of my job description, I understand that there are two very important elements when it comes to dining and service. They need to be good. You need them both to be on a higher level, there is just too much competition for a restaurant to have as poor service and food quality as this restaurant. I was beyond disappointed, and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone."
