Our first experience at RoMo's was awesome. The food was over the top. My steak was perfect! My husband's duck dish was something he had never tried and he loved it! The service was great. We will be going back!

The restaurant was quaint and vibrant but the waitress was not very informative and friendly. The crawfish etouffee had no crawfish and the dish was taken back to the kitchen for problem to be remedied. The burgers were ordinary. The pudding and pork belly were very good. The ambience and live music were good.

we had read reviews that were very favorable. we were with a group of 6. we orderd the wedge salad (delicious), kale soup (where was the kale, was good), husband ordered coq au vin and asked the waitress if the chicken was white meat, and she said it is a quarter, so i said breast and wing? and she said yes. of course it was dark meat, which he does not like, but he said the meal was good. i had fish (good) with zucchini and a very peppery broth. we had the dessert with the cake and pudding on top and did not finish it. so, i would say we were pretty disappointed.

The quality of the food was very high. The chicken slider soup was excellent and the arancini the best I have had in town. Great pastel impossible dessert!

Not a professional restaurant. Really should not be on open table. We had a group Of 12. This was for a business dinner. There is not ambiance. It is a store front with a bunch of metal tables and chairs. No decor, period.Wait staff nice, polite, but absolutely not trained nor professional. Food was fine, presentations poor. I Had aChicken in in wine sauce, that was poorly platedAnd the presentation, there wasn't presentation. It looked very bad on the plate. Bluntly, not a restaurant for folks looking to entertain customers.

Was a little mislead when I went to their web page and there was a reservations link. I thought they would be packed. When we walked in, there was only one other table occupied so a reservation really wasn't necessary.

Had a wonderful dining experience at RoMo's Cafe. Our server was familiar with all the menu offerings and was forthcoming with suggestions. Do try the daily blackboard specials. The roasted chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy and the spaghetti with meat sauce was a delight! If you want delicious food at a reasonable price - this is your place.

To get started on a good note, I did not have a problem with the restaurant or service. The restaurant, while plain, was clean. The service was nice, prompt but not overbearing. My date and I started off the meal with the Duck Fries, Truffle Fries, and the Arancini. The truffle fries were rather good, but the duck fries were soggy and tasteless. The Arancini was okay. My main course was the Italian Risotto and Scallops. With that I received a small portion of bland rice with 2 small scallops in the middle. For 19 dollars, that was ridiculous. My date ordered the Lamb rack ($20) which consisted of one tasteless rib, two forks worth of spinach and half a potato cut up. None of our items tasted good enough to warrant such small portio

Had lunch, not many other diners as it was about 2 pm. The blackboard special crawfish etoufee was incredible, as was the in house bread.Which brings the question, why isn't bread offered as a free appetizer like in other restaurants? The fois gras appetizer was a bit gamey for my taste, and duck fat fries could of been crispier. Over all we will give it another shot...this time for dinner. Waitress was running front of house by herself, and she was very friendly and competent.

Lots of sparkling reviews took us to RoMo's. We like to try new places with friends. Maybe we were expecting over the top, and it wasn't, except for our server who decidedly was. Could have used some salt and pepper on the table or offered. My entree of risotto with scollops was a miss - rice swimming in commercial chicken broth and scollops just browned not seared. The steak with mushrooms was very good and the only outstanding thing on the table. Everything was under seasoned for our group. Salads and desserts were good but not extraordinary . Portion sizes were good, not huge piles of food. And it is nice to be able to take your own wine and have a reasonable corkage charge. Over all, it was good but not remarkable.

Food was quite average. When entres were served to our party of six, some of them were cold. The only memorable dish was my husband's kale soup. Also, we ate the French fry variety plate as an appetizer. It was very good. We were quite disappointed in the food because the restaurant was given a good report in San Antonio Taste Magazine.

Food was ok... Tried the pizza, philly, pot pie, trio of fries and spaghetti. Philly gets high marks... The pot pie not so much. Lots of options to choose from. Service was very poor. Only had two waiters which was fine when we arrived as the restaurant was only half full. Once it got packed... We never saw our waiter again. We ended up having to refill our own drinks and when we asked for the check he said he had other things to do and would bring it later "in about 10 or 15 minutes". Yikes... Really?

My girlfriend and I visited Romo's for the first time last week. I was very excited to visit Romo's since I'd heard so many great things about it. We were both greeted immeaditely when we walked in and had no problems being seated. Our waiter was very professional and knew the menu very well. I ordered a salad and my girlfriend ordered the philly sandwich. My salad was very good and I was very pleased with the taste and presentation. My girlfriend was a little disappointed when her philly sandwich came with what seemed like crumbs of leftover chips. The chips weren't a nice to compliment to this wonderful sandwich. We both agreed that fries would have been the perfect compliment.

I really enjoyed Dan Ryan on guitar. I rated the food outstanding, even though my steak was a bit over. I ordered it rare, but most of it was medium rare, which is fine by me. The beet-potato mash that came with it was really great. The shrimp and grits were also outstanding, not all cheesy like most places, nice butter-bacon flavor. The service was less than stellar, attentive but hurried, because there was only one guy in there at 6:00 on a Saturday, and he was seating and serving. Not a great idea.

This is an oasis of great food in what I've otherwise found to be a veritable Sahara aka San Antonio's northwest quadrant. Located in a nondescript strip center, it's tastefully decorated with a very eclectic selection of local artwork. The food is a completely different story, innovative, unique, well prepared and served. Duck ravioli, pork belly entrees were excellent. Chalkboard selections (that change frequently)supplement printed menu. Excellent service.

  • Gourmet Food, Terrible Service
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

Food was excellent. Service was terrible. Food was brought out one dish at a time, with a long delay between dishes. My meal was brought out, and I didn't touch it because I was waiting for others to be served. The waiter then came over and said it was mixed up with someone else's order, so he took it. I watched him take it over to kitchen, then reserve it to another table. Finally, all but one of our party was served. We all were kept waiting for her meal. I had to call over the waiter to ask him to check on her meal. He said he had forgotten to turn it in with rest of order but that the kitchen was working on it. I suspect the kitchen and waiters were overwhelmed by another large party that came in after us.

Not sure why they're using a reservation service, as the place was not busy at all. In fact, it's a bit confusing claiming that they have a maitre'd because it's in an old strip mall. Overall the food is good and once they get all the decor set artsy types will love it.

RoMo's was a great FIND for us! Food and service was AWESOME. We were visitng from Denver and staying at the Hyatt Vacation Club and most restaurants in the area were ALL CHAIN-type that we have at home. RoMo's offered something different and YUMMY. Menu is a little limited but they have specials that can please anyone and everyone. We had the Grilled Salmon w/Udon noodles, Risotto balls, pasta with Romesco sauce, truffle fries, and an amazing dessert (can't remember the name?). Expect to get quality, amazing food for a very reasonable price. We were lucky enough to find this little 'gem' on open table website as the hotel had no idea who or where they were. We immediately recommended RoMo's to other hotel guests!

Great menu and wine list. It is located in a strip shopping center - don't let that be a reason to walk away. Part of my party raised their eyebrows when we drove up - they were extremely satisfied and pleasantly surprised.
