  • "If you are looking for FIVE STAR dining-Look no further than Romola's! Started w/ grilled lemon garlic shrimp, crab cakes, & prosciutto wrapped w/ melon, each huge portions presented beautifully & simply outstanding. Large main courses were a chicken w/ jumbo shrimp special, grilled rib-eye, & Dover sole, All had a starch & perfectly cooked veggies. The chicken & shrimp dish was in a delicious delicate sauce, the rib eye perfectly cooked & super tender. The Dover Sole (to die for!) filleted & presented tableside - OUTSTANDING! Normally, we don't have dessert, but couldn't pass up bananas foster or bread pudding. Both were excellent! The service was absolutely impeccable & the Owner, Sonny, made sure to visit each table. We will be back!!!"

  • "I made a reservation before I saw the negative comments. The negative comments might dissuade someone from dining there, but I don't think they should. The food we ordered was great. The service was attentive and personable. The atmosphere is a bit mixed. The space is modern, white table cloth, tables somewhat close to each other. It is a seafood restaurant with the feel of a fine Italian restaurant. The restaurant does share some space with the pizza place next door - the bathrooms are shared and they are not consistent with the atmosphere of the restaurant. We did not hear noise from the other restaurant which was noted in another comment. The portions were ample with the dishes we ordered. It is worth trying."

The pre-fixe menu offers a nice variety for a great price, and the regular menu has a wide range of exciting possibilities. Romola's is highly recommended!"

  • "Food was quite ordinary. I liked the decor. Staff was pleasant enough, but not overly so. Weird set-up where they share a kitchen w/Brooklyn Pizza next door. The adjoining door was open and it sounded like a children's party was going on next door. Not conducive to a quiet or romantic dining experience. Cost was on the high side... about $90.00 /ea for (2)appetizers, (2) dinners, (2) sodas, (2) cappuccinos and one dessert . When we first walked in we could smell whatever they use to clean and/or mop the floors with. It was not terrible, by any means. If you are fairly easy to satisfy then you would probably enjoy, but I would not personally recommend to a friend."

  • "service and food were very good. tuna was excellent--fresh and cooked perfectly. noise level was a major issue. t hey need to change the acoustics--once the restaurant filled up, our group of 6 couldn't hear each other talk.. and the desserts were a notch below the starters and entrees. overall--would go back, but maybe not on a Sat. evening."

  • "The ambiance was nice. But throughout the night I felt a little rushed. Again not a huge deal but when spending this kind of money that's not fair. Another thing I noticed was the menu was not exactly the same as online. As a matter of fact the online menu was 3 and 4 dollars cheaper on some dishes. But on the flip side the portions online looked much smaller than what was received. Now the appetizers and meals were excellent all the way around. Steak Au poive, halibut, rack of lamb and linguine with scallops. Portions were fine. Vegetables and sides were fine. Potatoes were small proportion. A very small scoop. But main dishes fine. All in all a very fine evening and a very nice restaurant and find. Definately worth a shot."

  • "Without a doubt the worst OpenTable experience we have ever had. Noise level was such that we could not hear each other across the table, waitstaff had to lean into and over the table just so we could hear them. Food was WAY OVER PRICED…My wife had scallops (3) and Shrimp (2) with risotto for $35…I had seafood over pasta for $28…the piece of lobster was tough as were the scallops….I work in NYC and we dine there at least once a month, but when I pay NYC prices I at least get good food and a substantial portion for my money!!!! The only positive was that the wait staff was friendly and courteous…. Would definitely NOT recommend this to anyone!!"

  • "The food was prepared well, but not really well enough to justify the price points that are on the menu. I had a scallop/shrimp entree at over $30. Shrimp was a bit over, scallops a bit under. If it had been a $22 entree, I would have been okay with that, but once you get into NYC price territory, I'd really expect tighter execution than this."

  • "The food is the real disappointment,. I had a crabcake appetizer that was mostly breading with crab taste coming through. Also it was heavily topped with a creamy & somewhat flavorless aoili. Putting the aoili on top of a seared crabcake only made for a very soggy and unappealing texture. For the entree, I had the snapper. The description sounded good as it is a seared piece if fish in a tomato broth. What I got was perhaps seared fish that was smothered in tomato sauce (no way resembled a broth!). The fish was soggy because again, as with the crabcake, cover anything in sauce all you get is a soggy mess. We didn't even order dessert, because at $9 per item, I knew it was just not gonna be worth it. Could make both dishes better at home."

  • "Our party of 4 was excited to try the newest Cranford restaurant, but left after dinner very disappointed. While we were seated right away, and service was prompt and friendly, the room is very noisy...we had to scream to talk. Worse though was the food. The seafood was fresh, but had no flavor at all, no seasoning on the fish or the sides. I convinced my non fish eating husband to try the place since some of the reviews wrote of how great the non fish entrees were. His steak was the worst he's ever tried to eat. In retrospect he wished he had returned it, but we've never sent food back. Wisely we left after entrees, drove to Westfield, and enjoyed dessert at a local bakery!"

  • "On a rare date night with my husband we walked into a beautifully lit restaurant greeted by a very professional and friendly hostess and manager. We were escorted to our table and every server was nicer than the next, The food was great especially the seafood crepes and the chocolate dessert. We will definitely go back again and again!"

They were dry and burned and tasted like it came out of the frozen food section of the supermarket and microwaved. Red snapper was better but notworth the prices.   • "My wife and I spent our night out on Valentines day enjoying the food and atmosphere at Romola's. The food was fantastic and our waitress was on top of everything. I enjoyed the seafood crepes as my wife ordered the special which was a flounder dish. They went out of their way to cook the flounder without some of the stuffing of crabmeat as she has an allergy to it. The desert of chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream top off the perfect evening."

  • "My wife and I tried Romola's for the first time on Saturday night and were very pleased. The room is very attractive and comfortable, and we were pleased to see that the restaurant was very busy and vibrant at 9:00. We were seated immediately and the service and attention were excellent. The menu is very interesting and just large enough to please everone. Our salads, seafood and pasta entrees were all prepared perfectly and were delicious. Desserts were also wonderful. We are pleased to have this great neighborhood restuarant in our area and we will certainly be regulars."

  • "The owner(s) have injected class into this newer restaurant. When entering you notice a large mound of Parmesan cheese that is used as a cheese treat for diners. You are greeted very nicely when arriving. The food at this BYOB is well prepared and presented. Some of the serving sizes of the entrees were modest but the flavors were excellent. The Seafood Fra Diablo was good, but overcooked---the small lobster tail was tough and hard, as was the shrimp. Our desserts were very small but one of our servers brought us a second no charge. Wait service was good but lost a touch because they were busy---there wasn't an open table in the house. Overall satisfied and will go back, but with the prices as they are, it wouldn't be a frequent choice."

  • "the food was excellent - we had the Seafood Crepe as an appetizer and it was delicious; my husband had the Rack of Lamb and enjoyed every bite - said it was perfectly cooked, not too rare and not overdone; I had the Shrimp and Scallops over mushroom risotto and loved it. Unfortunately we had no room left for dessert but the ones I saw come to other tables looked great and people didn't leave anything on their plate. Tables are a bit close together but other than that we have no complaints and look forward to dining her again!"

  • "Beautiful setting, pleasant background music - you can actually enjoy having a conversation without shouting. It's BYO - so you can enjoy a great bottle of wine with an amazing meal.   • "This was our first dining experience at Romol's and what a pleasrue it was. I was online looking for a BYOB in the area as our usual Saturday night restaurant was booked.The professionalism and the attention you receive from the staff is impeccable, always available without being a nuisance. Both the presentation and the taste of the food is amazing. I had the chillean sea bass and my husband had the seafood crepes, both delicious. Comfortable seating and great ambiance. I believe we have found another favorite BYOB!"

  • "This is new restaurant in town. It is a bit upscale with many seafood dishes which were different from the normal. I was very pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere an elegant & romantic atmosphere, service was above & beyond and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to those that want to go for a special meal for a special date or occasion."
