  • "We arrived with a party of five and our reserved table was set and ready to go; we started with calamari which was crispy and delicious! 4 out of 5 ordered the filet--all cooked as ordered, mine medium rare and right on money....the 5th had a sirloin....everyone was thrilled with their choices....baby roasted brussels sprouts were a hit :) If you like beef, Romaine's is the ONLY place to go!! The wine list and cocktail menu were awesome....we had a fallen chocolate cake for dessert for the birthday girl and it was yummy. Romaine's does it right from start to finish....highly recommend!"

  • "Our most recent visit to this favorite did not disappoint. Though very busy the booth we requested was available when we arrived. We tend to mix bar and large plates. Our mussels were very good, my beef tips flavorful (though perhaps could have been a tad more tender) and my wife's lamb steak was fine. All the accompaniments were excellent, as was our service."

  • "As always, the food, service, and atmosphere were outstanding. It's with good reason that Romaine's is one of our favorites in Northborough."

  • "We have eaten at Romaine's over a dozen times and never had an average meal or service. They are always spot on with their service and food!"

  • "Romaine's is the place where everyone calls you by name and you feel like you are at home! Great food, great wait staff and awesome bartenders!"

  • "My husband and I have been regular Romaine's customers. We return again and again because we enjoy the food, and Romaines is located in our neighborhood. However, we feel that it is time to change the menu! We are getting tired of the same old, same old! At our last visit I had fish (haddock) tacos, which were quite blah and difficult to eat because of the large pieces of haddock in the taco shells."

  • "We have several friends in the Shrewsbury/Northborough area who highly recommended Romaine's, so we left our comfort zone on the west side of Worcester to give it a try. We weren't disappointed. Roasted garlic (my favorite) was served with bread. We had the calamari app--it had a little too many tentacles for me, but my husband didn't mind. I had a filet mignon from the menu, although I was tempted by the same from the specials--and it was amazing. It was the best quality steak I've had in a long time--no need for a steak knife, because it was so tender. He had veal bolognaise, which he enjoyed both at the time and as leftovers. For dessert, we split an apple cranberry tart. I love pie crust, and this was obvioiusly homemade."

  • "Romaine's restaurant is very comfortable and cozy - the booths allow a bit of privacy which is nice. The service was perfectly timed and very pleasant. A Patron marguerita was superb and the beer list quite satisfactory - a favorite, Dogfish, was included. The warm bread with roasted garlic was perfect, the calamari starter was excellent - tender with just the right amount of coating. The salad was fresh and enjoyable. After this wonderful beginning, our entrees were a bit disappointing. The accompaniments were excellent (sweet potato fries, potato and parsnip mash, brussell sprouts) but only offer 3 stars for food because we found the wood roasted duck tasty but a bit dry and the beef tenderloin smallish and not as tender as anticipated."

  • "You can never go wrong with Romaine's. The food is always outstanding. Their haddock dish is my favorite and my boyfriend loves the shrimp and linguini. We had an 8:15 PM reservation and were disappointed that the specials were all gone. Get there early if you want to try something different that isn't on the menu."

  • "You'd think Romaine's was the only restaurant in town by the packed house Saturday night. My husband and I have been dining at Romaine's for over 10 years, but I have to say, we dine there now less and less and not just because you need a reservation to get in the place, but because I have seen a big change in the quality of the food particularly on extremely busy nights like Saturday. I'm sorry to say, 3 out of the 4 meals were seriously overcooked. I ordered a seafood special and the mussels were unrecognizable as mussels. I paid $22 for a bowl of rice and 5 shrimp, a big disappointment. The duck resembled chicken it was so overcooked. We will rethink and future Saturday evenings at Romaine's I'm sorry to say."

  • "Although we do not dine out too often, my husband & I aren't afraid to spend money and drive time on "date night" to find really good food & service. Most often we get our hopes up based on ratings-but end up disappointed after a dining out. This was NOT the case at Romaine's. Kris was our waitress & she was attentive, engaging, knowledgeable and really efficient on a busy Saturday night. We started off with the Cajun Shrimp & Grilled Bread appetizer, it was most notable and different thing we've eaten in a long time. My roasted beet salad with duck bacon was really good - it was large and could be a main course salad. We shared the beef tenderloin entree and it was exceptional. FYI-make a reservation w Open Table, the place was packed."

  • "My family and I enjoyed our dining experience. We had reservations and were seated quickly. We enjoyed our appetisers, salads and entrees. Service was efficient and friendly. We consider this the fine dining restaurant in our area."

  • "Romaines has been a great restaurant for a very long time. Its not close to where we live so we don't get there that often but when we do we always ask ourselves why don't go more often. Great for a dinner for 2 or with the whole family. Food is always great, service is super friendly and the special touches like free roasted garlic to start make it a special place. Its also great that they're one of the few places that takes reservations even for a 2 people so it was our choice for a recent birthday dinner. You can't go wrong going to Romaines."

  • "I ordered the duck, and while the glaze was delicious, I couldn't even get most of the meat off the bone because the it was much too rough to eat. The sides were nice - the broccolini was the only thing I finished on my plate. I'm not a huge fan of sweet potato fries, but even I nibbled on these - they were tasty. My husband enjoyed his dinner (the shrimp fettuccini). The ambiance was nice for a date. Unfortunately, the quality of the food doesn't measure up to the price you pay for it. It may be good for the area, but next time I'll travel further for better quality food especially at these prices."

  • "Still my favorite restaurant. The menu is brief and ensures each item is near perfection, as I've never had a bad meal here. The waitstaff is first class, and the service is second to none. Highly recommended."

  • "WOW, were the only words that came out of my mouth after I tasted my Salmon. Wow were the words after I tried my wife's Shrimp pasta (cant' remember the actual name). The food is worth every penny. Even the kids burgers were remarkably delicious. The service was friendly and the noise levels were low which I truly enjoyed. A perfect place for a romantic outing. It's hard to impress me, but they did. Truly a gem."

  • "The menu hasn't changed in a long time, and isn't all that special. We used to frequent this restaurant, but have moved on largely. It's definitely worth a visit, but if you live in the area it will be interesting to go back but not compelling."

  • "Service was excellent. They honored reservation time with no wait. Food was mostly excellent. Any complaint on food was personal preference. We would go again and recommend to others."

  • "I dined here the night it opened after their renovation. The place has the same general look & feel with some nice, modern updates, such as a row of high tables across from the restaurant bar, and new striped upholstery in the booths. (The lounge bar looked the same but I only popped in there for a minute.) The chicken piccata was delicious but slightly greasy. Service was excellent and the meal was paced just right - not rushed but not too slow, either. The wine list was more than adequate, offering several choices across the board, some choices for individual glasses, and a few half-bottle selections. It seemed busy for a weeknight so I'm glad I made reservations. This could be due to the reopening, I'm not sure."

  • "We're always impressed every time we go to Romaine's. The food is always terrific (especially the truffle parmesan fries) and the wine list has a good variety of grapes. One thing we really love is that they seem to get the portions correct -- neither too large nor too small. Though the service was a bit slow this time around, we didn't mind as we were catching up with an old friend who we hadn't seen in a while and appreciated the lack of interruption. This has easily become one of our favorite restaurants in the area."

  • "I don't always write reviews but I have to praise Romaine's for the most reliable, delicious food. There has never been anything I have eaten here that I haven't loved. We almost never go anywhere else because nothing else compares. In addition, the service is always excellent and very professional. Every server we have had has been top notch but Maureen is particularly awesome!! The manager/host staff is also very accommodating of requests, a great feature that makes us feel welcome and appreciated as frequent diners. Cannot recommend highly enough, thanks!"

  • "We have been here many times and it just keeps getting better. As asked champagne was on the table when we arrived for our Anniversary dinner. Staff was wonderful and the food was amazing. My husband had the steak special and he said it was the best he ever had. The haddock was yummy also! Will keep going back to Romaines!"

  • "Consistently good food, a nice atmosphere, and easy to get to (right at Rt 20 in Northboro), Romaines is a great place for special evening with your spouse. They are great about food allergies (e.g. gluten free) and the steak tips/parm. fries are addictive."

  • "Excellent food, service and wine. We went on a Sunday night after the pats loss so the restaurant was slow which is not typical. My wife had the lamb steak which was served medium and looked more like a tenderloin. Excellent taste and cooked perfect. 2 of my daughters and myself had steak which was perfectly cooked and tasty coming from the grille. My 3rd daughter had the fettucine and chicken which she said was very good. We were all stuffed from our meals so refrained from desert. I have been here many times and will always come back."

  • "This was our first time to this restaurant since moving locally. The smell of the wood fired stove set the tone. The food (ribs) was excellent and portion sizes were perfect. Dessert was excellent (chocolate cake with raspberry drizzle). Server was great. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We have dined at Romaine's many times .... it is our favorite place. As always, the food, service and dining experience were exceptional! It doesn't seem to matter what night of the week we go, it is almost always busy here and for good reason. If you have a Romaine's card, after $500 you get a $50 dining certificate to use there which is a great deal that not all places offer."

  • "As always the food and service is top notch. The swordfish was a menu special this particular evening. It was perfectly cooked and paired with ravioli that was outstanding. The pork tenderloin was perfectly cooked as well and was full of flavor. Another notable mention would be the staff. Our server, Jen, was attentive, but noted that this was a reunion with a friend and did not hover over the table--we have enjoyed her service in the past."
