A word from RokPrime
RokPrime is located across the street from the historic Mission in downtown San Juan Capistrano. We serve only Prime beef, chops, seafood, and poultry. All of our proteins are naturally fed and raised.
No hormones. No antibiodics.

Our steaks and seafood are cooked on an ultra hot lava Rok heated to 750 degrees and using only salts and minerals minded from the Himalayan mountains. This method of cooking the steaks creates a flavor and juciness you won't find anywhere. We deliver the best steak in Orange County.

In addition to our Prime steaks and seafood we offer a menu of signature
sandwiches and burgers, as well as from scratch soups and salads.

The food was great and we were happy we ordered our rib eye medium so we could use the rock to cook it a bit more if need be. It was a nice touch and fun to do. We will definitely go back. Did not go into the restaurant itself so not sure of the restrooms, etc. But our experience was great."

  • "We live in San Juan and had some good things about Rox Prime, so we finally got a night out and wanted to try it. To start the server was totally unprepared, didn't know what was the on the menu. Forgot things we ordered, recommended the truffle fries which were so bad we sent them back (something we never do) not to mention I've never met a french fries I didn't love. We will not be returning and have already told a few friends how bad it was, I don't see it lasting long."

  • "We were in town for a horse show, and made a last minute reservation. The restaurant was not crowded, and we got good service. The idea of this restaurant is that they have these hot lava rocks, and they put them in a 700-plus degree oven, and then they put your steak on it and bring it all out to the table. The rock stays hot for hours, so you can put your food on it and cook it some more or just warm up things. As a person who has the "curse of the cold food," this was wonderful. We had the flat iron steak and it was divine. Lobster stack was great and lamb lollipops for apps. Bread was worth every carb. Will definitely go back!"

We all ordered the Waghu flat steak...absolutely delicious! Also there is a great wine selection available & very generous pours! Definitely worth the moderate pricing. Looking forward to going back very soon!"

  • "The restaurant was very accommodating to a mobility challenged guest and the service was excellent! Wonderful cocktail list with unique creations. Get there early and enjoy the happy hour! The small plates were delicious! We sampled the lamb lollipops, truffled fries, lobster stack, pancetta wrapped prawn skewers, grilled artichoke, jumbo onion rings and mac n' cheese. We'd recommend any of these dishes and would order them again! We dined on the Rok ribeye medallion steak (unique presentation; tender and delicious...not slathered in butter but with unusual dipping sauces), the scallops (numerous and tender; delicious), Pan seared Miso sea bass (light and flakey; very tasty) and the Rok seared pork chop (huge but very tender and tasty!)."

  • "The service was great until it was time for the check. It took a good 15 minutes to get my check once requested. The server took a quick drink order from the table behind us then went to the table on the other side of us. It was a 6 person party that were loud and took up a lot of time from the server. She just could not get away from this group. The table behind us was so mad they also walked out. They went to the front disk and another server had to come over and trake care of them. This other server also had to bring my check. Other than that the food was GREAT and was server was also great at reviewing the menu and how the rock cooking worked"

  • "We met some very special long-time friends for dinner at Rok Prime. It was a very nice meal. The novelty of the lava rock cooking technique was a fun twist. The risotto could have been smoother and a little tastier. Overall, a very pleasant meal."

  • "Went for the first time since we had a Christmas gift card. Had small filet and sea scallops, and a wedge salad. Filet, although $30, was tasteless piece of cardboard. We had ordered the steak rare, and cooked is slightly more on the table rock (novelty for RokPrime way), and even though it was med rare, the steak had no flavor. Potatoes were mediocre. Sea Scallops ($28) were overcooked. The side veg was tasty. Wedge Salad was lacking on the bacon pieces and lettuce was all core. Bread-a couple warmed up rolls from Costco. All in all we loved the interior decor, staff was friendly, but we won't be back even with a free gift certificate. Disappointing!"

  • "Upon arrival, we were seated immediately. Our server was right behind us with menus and asking about drinks. After we ordered, there was a 20 minute wait before drinks were served by a different server. We then waited at least 20 more minutes for someone to take our food order. Our food was delivered right away. Then, another wait for our server to attend to us. My husband's meal was missing a side. The server questioned him three times if he was sure he did not receive the side! Finally, a different server arrived with the missing side. After our desert order, our server disappeard for at least 25 minutes before she returned. At the time of our meal, there were only one more party in the restaurant. We were there for 2 hours!"

  • "Overall, all four diners had great food and enjoyed the experience. The Wagyu skirt steak served on the rock was very tender and flavorful. The lobster stack with avocado appetizer was also a favorite. We also ordered the roasted corn side dish and it complemented the meal well. The vegetables served with the entre were a very small portion, so I would suggest another side if you are a big eater. I recommend this restaurant."

  • "The waiter took our drink orders, but forgot to enter the order. He comes back to apologize 15 minutes later - he said he was doing 'double-duty' as the waiter tonight. He brings me my wine, and proceeds to bring us an appetizer (on the house). The service was impeccable after that. The waiter 'regained' his tip. The food is a bit bland - hence the sauces to dip the food in. The cuisine is a bit 'gimmisky' - as they bring food that is 'cooked rare' to the table. You then 'cook' the meat to your liking on a 'hot round stone' that they place in front of you. It reminds me of 'Ishi-yaki' (Japanese cuisine. It literally means 'cooking on a stone'. I guess this is the Americanized version of that. I'll definitely be back to try this place again."

  • "Unfortunately we didn't end up having dinner, and steak seems to be what they are known for, but we did have appetizers, a salad and a couple of drinks. Everything we had was above par and the service was excellent. Parking is a bit tricky though, so keep an eye for an available spot!"

  • "I took my family there for the first time on (six of us) Thanksgiving and was pleasantly surprised with all aspects of the experience. A professional waiter, excellent food preperation/presentation/flavor (several 3-course alternatives to choose from), nice atmosphere at a reasonable price. There is free 3 hour parking in the nearby structure. The meal was comparable or better than many other well known Steak and Seafood restaraunts. We all left saying to each other how great it was."

  • "About 2 years ago we were walking down the street in San Juan Capistrano. RokPrime had just opened. There was a woman sitting outside the restaurant telling people about the lunch special. My wife and I went in to give it a try. The food was terrific. We liked it so much we brought a friend back and even our son. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere. The unique use of hot rocks to cook your steak was amazing. Since then we have been back a number of times. Always a great place to eat. This evening the service was so poor it took us easily 20 min between courses. My wife's dinner was overcooked. My partner could not get oil and balsamic vinegar without asking 3 times. Although everyone was nice, it was like we were an afterthought."

The servers were very attentive and upbeat. They have a large outdoor patio which is currently closed, but looks like it would be nice for a summer dining experience. The decor is a mixture of spanish and country french. We will definitely be back for more."

The decor is funky and unique and matches the awesome background music that was playing coffeehouse style hits all night long. The food came out fresh and tasty, we particularly enjoyed cooking our own steak on a 750 degree rock. This allowed me to have medium steak and my wife to make medium well steak at the same time. The salad was very good and we tried two side dishes that were both delicious. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to go out for a nice dinner in South OC."

I recommend having it served with the cooking stone, it was a great experience. they bring your steak on a heated stone to the table, which allows you to finish cooking your meal to your personal taste. worked great on the steak and the vegetables. service was excellent, keep our drinks full and constantly checked on us."

  • "From delicious food, to a unique cooking concept, to the chic ambiance, to the accommodating staff, our first visit to RokPrime was a wonderful way to celebrate our 7th anniversary. We started with a bottle of yummy Wild Horse Pinot, followed by the incredible Tenderloin Bruschetta for an appetizer. For the main course, I had the 6 oz. filet, and my husband got the flat iron steak. We had our steaks brought out to us to complete the cooking on the "roks," which added a sense of fun. The steak just melted in your mouth. We also ordered the roasted corn for a side- so good! Finally, we got the warm butter cake with vanilla bean ice cream- tasty. George, our waiter, was the best. Even the owners made sure to say hi. It was a special night!"

  • "Friday night I was looking for a spot we had not been before so I made a reservation... At first glance, ambiance was terrific, very cuddly booth in a corner that was pretty private... Good start. We ordered the Lobster stack appetizer , a bowl of the pumpkin soup, which sounded really good and the halibut to share.... And an iced tea for me and an Arnold Palmer for her... Then it all fell apart :-( Appetizer was great ! Soup we never did get... Halibut was very dry almost inedible. Potatoes cold and my side of asparagus was just asparagus, big ones - not very good at all... Our server Cienna was very nice, but not very attentive at all...she never even checked back on us till meal was over..."
