  • "The wife and I love this place. We usually only make it to Roka Akor during the holidays. "A holiday treat for us". We recently brought along a couple of new friends and they both loved the food, atmosphere and ambiance. It's always a good place to bring people from out of town. We can't wait to come back again. Service is excellent and also informative. Keep up the good name. Regards, Mark"

  • "This place continues to amaze me. Every time I go there is a new exotic fish I have not heard of. Constant fresh fish everyday. Had a special of wagyu hanger with chimchurri sauce. The most amazing piece of meat."

  • "Food was phenomenal. The lamb was "out of bounds" - Guy Fieri.... The brussel sprout appetizer was unmatched. I swear you will like it even if you aren't a fan of brussel sprouts. Service was on point. Our waitress was extremely helpful, gave great recommendations, and had everything perfectly timed while being extremely attentive. Many thanks! Great place!"

  • "Excellent! Finding both excellent food and superb service was a real treat. As returning guests, we came prepared to navigate the eclectic menu, but our very knowledgeable server was still able to provide us with welcomed advice for our choices. The real treat was the dessert that topped off our meal and exemplifies what Roka Akor's menu is about, exquisite flavors blending together for an exciting and tasty experience. The Japanese flan (the name escapes me) accompanied by fresh strawberries, smoked almonds, a yuzu mouse and sauce - wonderful! We'll be back for that and when it's cooler, for our favorite Japanese Wild Mushroom Hot Pot of rice."

  • "We took a sushi foodie from out of town to this restaurant, and all of us were very impressed with the presentation and the quality of food. We don't understand why quail egg or salmon roe are not offered, however."

  • "Superb service, amazingly delicious meal beautifully presented. Highly recommend a dining experience from the minute you come through the door."

  • "Excellent food. Outstanding service (Casey) Because I was on my own I sat at the kitchen bar. Great seat if you're a foodie. Had Omikase. Food was really good and creative. Really really bothered by most of the cooks handling the food with bare hands without washing. In an open kitchen that's not good. Would definitely return, if for nothing but the service, hoping by then the cooks had found where the sink was. Would never go back if that element of Roka is not improved. Kinda gross to watch"

  • "I have been to your restaurant establishment before and brought a friend this time around to experience Roka Akor, for the very first time. We loved the Brussel Sprouts, Cremini Mushrooms, Sweet Potatoes, Black Cod, and my favorite cocktail.....the Blood Orange Margarita. Had great service at the bar as well. Keep up the quality service and the great good. A little pricey, but worth it."

  • "2nd time in this week. Did the chef tasting with my whole group. About 9 courses of perfection. Finished off with Japanese Wagyu. The best I have had outside of Japan. The service was outstanding and the hospitality sublime. Can't wait for the All night happy hour starting on Sunday. That will make me a weekly regular for sure. "

  • "The flavours of the food were outstanding. I will not be able to eat inexpensive all you can eat sushi after this. The room is beautiful and the kitchen is open. The wait staff were excellent. I would recommend this place highly although it is expensive."

  • "The sushi is top notch. The freshest I have had in town. The prime ribeye was heavenly. The service was professional and knowledgable. The General Manager, Rick, stopped by and made use feel really welcomed. Insisted we try some Honey Shochu. Wow! That was awesome. Think I have a new favorite cocktail. Can't wait to get back there."

We ate in one of the private dining rooms and had the most amazing waitress (I forgot her name she was tall brunette absolutely gorgeous) the food was amazing per usual I love the butterfish appetizer and the black cod is done amazing here! Wish there was one in Orange County I'd be a huge supporter "

  • "The food has always been good at this restaurant but the ambience for fine dining is terrible. The Pike Place Market-like shouting that servers use to communicate with the open kitchen is a terrible affectation. It's quieter at a hot dog stand in Penn Station. The servers and wait staff rush about so much that relaxed dining is impossible. Edamame which is complimentary at many sushi restaurants is a la carte here and was not revealed as such by the waiter. The food is superior yes but for the prices they charge I expect to be able to talk to my fellow diners without shouting. Too much "Scottsdale chic" for me' I'll take my sushi elsewhere, thank you."

  • "The Lamb was undercooked and my girlfriend spent three days getting over the undercooked meat. Its so dark in the restaurant that you cant see how rare the food really is. Be careful… This ruined the rest of the weekend."

  • "So many restaurants to choose from there in Scottsdale and many of them have the same feeling. This one stands out. From the sleek decor (maybe just a little too minimalist, but still beautiful) to the unique menu offerings, everything felt special. Our server, Lisa, was very patient as I asked a million questions about the menu--and she had an answer for them all. The first thing I ordered, at Lisa's suggestion, was their specially infused vodka drink called Sochu. It was great. Everything that followed was equally impressive. What shocked me the most was the steak. It was better than most I've had in standard steakhouses. Desert was to die for too. The GM, Rick, came over to chat and made us feel at home."

  • "We were 3 couples and everyone thought their food was delicious. The presentations were awesome! My husband and I each had the black cod and tempura veggies. Others had the salmon and edamame. Roka Akor also has a great happy hour which we plan to try soon. We all left satisfied and full. "

  • "I tried something new this time. The Black Cod, is simply amazing. It is the best Black Cod entrée, that I have EVER had. I am a big "FOODIE", so this comment from me means a lot. Also, the Brussel Sprouts are to die for if you are a Brussel Sprout lover. They are fried, but it is so worth it, so go ahead and take the plunge I say! I will be back. That is a fact."

  • "We just returned for our third time to Roka Akor and each time it has been exceptional. Wonderful list of nigiri, and enough options for those who don't like sushi. We request a waiter named Casey each time we go back because he does a fantastic job and he truly makes the dinner a unique experience."

  • "Were some of the best I have had: so flavorful and fresh. Also enjoyed the brussel sprouts, butterfish, and sushi rolls. "

  • "This was my first visit to this restaurant after having heard good things about it. Unfortunately, the menu was very limited, undoubtedly because of the Easter holiday, although our waitress & the kitchen was kind enough to offer some limited selections (sushi rolls) from regular menu. Fried rice was very heavy, probably due to the addition of pork belly. Spare ribs were the big winner and would recommend them. This less-than-stellar dining experience was clearly a function of the Easter holiday, so not completely fair to judge how the restaurant would be on a normal day for lunch or dinner. "

  • "Roka akor does good food - but not at the price you pay for it. The steaks (their specialty) are good, not great. And yes their rolls are good, but their fish is mediocre (somewhat understandably as Phoenix is inland, but then don't charge such a premium for the sushi). The overall experience was underwhelming and over budget. "

  • "The freshest sushi I have had anywhere in the valley. Actually watched the sushi chefs carving up whole, fresh yellowtail. The Robata grill adds great flavor to the steaks. Out server was so awesome. Had the Honey Shochu infusion. Outstanding. I can't wait to get back for more of that good stuff. Overall an incredible experience. "

  • "Butterfish, kale Caesar which was large, sweet pots, crispy Brussels sprouts , Robata scallops, full bar. All food excellent and cleary fresh. Great desserts-Toffee & Brownie best 2. Only complaint was that it was pretty Noisy. The sushi chefs holler a lot & so do the waiters. Cute for about 2 minutes until it startles you over and over. Also wld be nice if they had more unique rolls. Pricey but normal for high quality food. despite what many other people say on the reviews you can get out of there at $50 or $60 bucks a person and maybe even have a drink."

  • "We had a wonderful dinning experience to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food and service was superior. They have a nice mix of raw and cooked items. We had hamachi that was lightly seared and served in wonderful ponzu flavored sauce. this was followed by a few rolls and then seared scallops and a lobster special that was grilled over the charcoal. We also had grilled peppers and finished with a spicy tuna roll. Every bite was delicious. I highly recommend Roka Akor. It is worth the price."

  • "Good selection of happy hour appetizers. Brussels sprouts were dry and salty. Pork belly over-seasoned Tasty mushroom sliders. Out of Mochi! That is disappointing for a Japanese restaurant,"

  • "Really love Roka Akor for our special occasions in Main Dining Room and regular visits to the Bar Area. Just celebrated my son's birthday, my birthday and my step son's engagement April 12 and had another great time. We closed the place down and appreciate management and staff hanging in there for our last bottle of Sake (Dream Slayer!) Food was great and of course we spent a ton $ but it was worth it. Cant wait to go back again!"

  • "It was me and wife's night out from tucson and we decided to go to Scottsdale and right next to the resort was the restaurant as soon as we walked in we were greeted and given a table we had a cold saki called Aladdin which was excellent and we didn't know what to order cause we had never been and it was our first time. The waiter stated we should go with the chefs choice which is some of the chefs best work and seasonal ingredients. When I state you won't be disappointed I truly mean it they serve you 8 different dishes my favorite was the lobster roll, grilled bison, and a grilled whole fish with lemon juice and a mango chutney. I'm mean everything was heavenly."
